  1. I feel I can't read a thread any more that has doubles mentioned in it where gb isn't ranting about something. You don't like doubles? Cool we get it. Now can we stop arguing about this shit on every thread or shall we make a separate thread on comp alley just to contain this bs? You can try and hide behind semantics all you want but if a bracket is filling then its filling. If you are seriously trying to suggest that everyone who enters the tournaments and then proceeds to enter more doubles tournaments hates the 'tier' and is doing so at gunpoint then I guess it's a lost cause.
  2. What if Chanseys jungler counter ganks your dive and ends up giving Chansey the double kill? At that point you lost your Chansey counter and she will snowball out of control and solo carry the team fights.
  3. Tor you are so brave, teach us your ways.
  4. o my bad sumtyme my spellin not bee so gud
  5. I've played many games in my years and I gotta say in all honesty that PokeMMO is the best dating sim around. This would be a very useful suggestion since sometimes I find myself wasting time trying to seduce people that are already taken and this would be a great quality of life change. I think additional dialogue options or a guide may be useful since I can't seem to make best girl @XxJessicaJungxX accept my love.
  6. Without even having to ask im 99% sure which power-hungry trigger-happy staff member banned him. Forever a killjoy.
  7. I think this man may be onto something. Why has nobody thought of this before? The only words I can think of to describe this is simply genius, get this man on TC to make the powerful machamp great again.
  8. @DaftCoolio Can you get your team to farm Kangas / Lax / Blissey so we can have them as prizes?
  9. Soontm? So encounter rate is the only thing considered when thinking about economical impact as apposed to value. Good to know. It's also cute how you chose to entirely skip over the second paragraph even though that was to me the most important part. The fact that singles and doubles prizes are not on separate cool downs just fucks everyone in the ass, no other way to look at it. Would giving out another gyarados to a doubles player break the economy? No. Would givng out another ludi to an OU player make the previous winners feel their prize means less? As somebody who owns one of these poverty shinys I can say in all certainty, no. Ok, so would having more options for prizes and thus giving out appropriate prizes that are actually used in the tiers make it easier for staff to host tournaments that they are happy about? Can't say for sure but I'm guessing the answer is yes. Would giving out more appropriate prizes lead to a better turn out and more effort put in by good players? Yes. And you can't pretend its not a problem. When looking at the upcoming doubles tournaments as well as looking at the last few the prizes are as follows: Crobat, Tentacruel, Ursaring and Alakazam. All of which are either completely unviable or barely viable all with under 5% usage when there are other far better (in terms of viability and appropriateness for the tier rather than simply increased rarity) options that would be available if we didn't have a universal cool down on prizes. The fact that gyarados has been borderline S tier for so long in doubles and yet is never a prize is just bad. Ludi is a really good mon in both OU and doubles yet is only given to doubles now. Both feel wrong. Neither are super rare or would break the economy or would make the previous winners feel worse about their prizes so can we just stop wasting time giving out prizes for shit that is never used in their respective tiers (dodrio has lots of OU usage right?) and start giving out prizes that make sense. Oh, to any staff that is hosting tournaments this is not aimed as an attack on you, you are doing you can with a broken system and I am thankful for it, keep it up.
  10. Fake screenshot, Not enough tentacles.
  11. I honestly feel like power rankings would be great. Although subjective they are ultimately fun and honestly more hype to look at than a spread sheet. I don't know if you are planning to do write ups and if you are just planning to do it for the top dogs in every tier or for more people but I think it would be great if you did, I'm sure lots of people would look forward to reading the thread after winning a tournament or two just to read what was written about them. If you are going to do this then would probably better to get others involved since its a lot of work, especially if you plan to do it year round.
  12. Is it possible to reevaluate the tiers of certain shiny prizes for official events? In the past I've talked to a few different staff members about possible prizes for tournaments and what Raederz posted in the latest doubles official thread confirmed it where there are certain prizes that are simply not deemed very desirable yet are still being treated as S tier prizes that cannot be given out. The fact that Snorlax / Blissey / Kanga are not allowed as prizes and yet Salamence is, is just simply baffling especially when considering they were prize options for 3rd and 2nd respectively in the doubles seasonal. I'm sure there are more inconsistencies than these but I'm too lazy to look for them. It's also crazy to think a lot of these lower and mid tier shinies go on such long cool downs when in reality they aren't exciting or exclusive, and the fact that some of these are used in both singles and doubles further perpetuates the problem, they are completely different formats and should be treated as such especially for lower and mid tier shinies that aren't rare or exclusive in the first place. I'm sure there are OU players who would like to get their hands on a shiny Ludi or UU players who would like a shiny manectric, having a universal cooldown for prizes such as these serves no purpose other than forcing random shit tier reject prizes that nobody cares about since everything else is unavailable. Why when the prizes being given out are already massively restricted by lack of hidden power must there be even more pointless restrictions put in place to further limit the options of prizes and make it even harder for staff members to host worthwhile tournaments that people will care about and will generate hype? Removing a few of these pointless restrictions would make it easier for staff to host tournaments that they want to host and would make the community more excited about tournaments. Doing so would be a benefit to everyone.
  13. Woah. I thought doduo was supposed to be the doubles prize. Because Doubles, geddit? xDxDxD
  14. If it worked that way Gary would be challenger.
  15. Urm. I did I or did I not agree with you that some clause changes could be beneficial? Did I not also say that I would be all for BoX format wherever it was applicable but It's not likely to happen in standard officials due to time constraints. I'm not entirely sure how you could consider me to be saying "Don't fuck with doubles". What I am against however is any possible bans since I do not consider any pokemon to be banworthy. Sure metas usage is high but it fills so many roles that nothing else can fill to the point where banning it would most definitely impact doubles in a negative way and then force more stuff to be banned. Doing all this for a meta game that won't necessarily be better doesn't seem very justifiable. And yeah I did like JJs post that said to keep TC away from doubles and if we were to make changes there should be a doubles only TC. This isn't because I'm against any changes being made ever it's just that I don't particularly trust the TC (no offense) to make these decisions without significant input and maybe even votes from more doubles players. Yeah I understand that lots of the TC may understand doubles to some extent but let's be honest not many actually dedicate a lot of time to the tier.
  16. It isn't that big of a deal but RNG sucks and Bo3 wouldn't be a bad thing? I guess depending on how it is implemented it could be problematic. Worth a discussion the psl thread at least.
  17. I honestly hadn't been thinking along those lines, but that's probably because I doubt it would happen. I'd be all for BoX but I doubt it will ever happen in any standard officials due to time constraints and would be limited to psl and/or seasonal. I've suggested a few times to have more VGC style tournaments to help prevent massive tempo gain / loss purely based off of lead matchup to lower rng but it seems to have fell on deaf ears. Maybe some doubles specific clauses could help if anyone can think of anything that is applicable. But in reality outside of a clause or 2 which likely won't change much there isn't many options to make the tier more competitive without doing some massive overarching changes.
  18. Was tranz playing on his main and forcing you to play vs level 30s?
  19. I don't think Doubles is perfect. But I do feel like the tier is in a good spot. Not perfect, but good. Let's say there is a perfect hypothetical sweet spot where its possible to have almost no centralization and limited rng. Looking at the current meta I think the amount to be banned to achieve that would end up being considerably large to the point where it wouldn't even be recognizable comparable to the current meta game. To strive for this hypothetical perfect meta where we would likely have to ban out a huge amount of mons and destabilize the tier for a massive amount of time when the current meta is already in a fairly good spot doesn't seem like a great idea. That is even thinking that we can hit this hypothetical perfect tier which considering how this game has been out for ages and yet we have never hit it in any other tier seems very unlikely. And saying there are rng factors that are problematic is pretty meaningless. There has been a discussion to ban Swagger and to complex ban body slam on lax to try and reduce rng and its been made pretty clear that banning things simply because they are obnoxious and rng related is not going to happen. rng in doubles sucks but it is perpetuated by how doubles is typically more offensive than singles which is one of the main draws, to change this would again likely be detrimental to the tier. Yeah rng is a fucking uguu and in recent history I've been rnged out of way more than my fair share of tournaments but I still think you are somewhat overplaying its magnitude in comparison to singles. Even if this wasn't the case doing drastic fundamental changes to the format just to lower rng seems extremely unlikely and really not that necessary outside of sleep clause.
  20. I have seen this before. On the same note you can often see a bunch of people bringing UU / NU teams into OU and NU into UU. But honestly this topic is completely irrelevant. I'm honestly not sure what work you think it needs to be done, because I really don't see anyone complaining asking things to be banned because nothing seems restrictive or overpowered enough to warrant this. And based on some of the previous bans and constant tier shifts in the other meta games I'm not sure it would be beneficial in any way, and any changes would probably destabilize the format massively and would very likely to be extremely detrimental. As far as I see it the only things that I think are arguably problematic is the lack of sleep clause but outside of that I've never once thought of anything I've seen to be overpowered or restrictive enough to warrant a discussion let alone a ban.
