1. Thanks for the contest! I had a lot of fun doing this.
2. Town Creator: Turkeydragon Town: Monument in the Genso Region Town description by region creator: "A place where trainers meet to battle, and gaze at the monument of the very first Genso League champion for inspiration."

Highlights 3 Battle Courts: A blue, yellow, and red battle court. For tournaments Staff can direct players to a specific color court to begin their match. All spectators stand around the courts to spectate. For non tournament competitive play, players go to the courts to find their matches standing there waiting for a battle. Pond/Statue: A monument to the first Genso League Champion that looks down upon the battle courts, and the players fishing Pokemon below him. Old Mans House/Tutor: The Old Man's dialog reads, "I have gained so much knowledge through my years as a Pokemon trainer. I now stay in Monument to pass everything I learned onto the next generation of Pokemon Trainers." The Old Man can teach your Pokemon moves. Some of the items around his house make him seem very familiar. Clan Hall: The clan hall is where clans can go to hold meetings, chat, and plan for future events in a conference room, and the hang out room. People can also come into Clan hall in search for a new clan to be recruited in to. Outside of Clan Hall is a nice, clean relaxing area, and on the other side, tall grass where you can train and EV with your friends and clan members. PC/Mart: The PokeCenter and PokeMart provide all trainer needs. All the berries and supplies you need. They will quickly heal your Pokemon so you can return to battle on the courts! Monument is the mecca for competitive players, and players that love to hang out. There are plenty of ways to interact with people in Monument. Why sit, battle, and fish in Viridian, when you can do it in a town that is designed for it! Storyline: The first time you enter Monument, you are met by your rival. He says, "You are at Monument?! That can only mean you are here for one reason. Follow me!" He then leads you to the battle courts, "I've been battling all day, time to continue my win streak." After you demolish him, he says, "I guess you are ready for Monument…Maybe one day they will build a statue of you here. YA RIGHT!" Notes: I created this town in photoshop using sprites from Fire Red. Some of the structures were altered and you would never find them in any Pokemon Game (Clan house, Battle Courts, Statue, Entry Gate, Picture on Old Mans Wall). I made a giant square of grass as my base to start on, then built this town entirely from scratch. No generator or program besides photoshop. I had the idea for this town before this contest even started, then when I found Monument, it 100% fit exactly what I already wanted to do in my head. So I built the town based on the regions definition, with my own concept applied as well.
3. One thing people are forgetting. You arent the only making decisions. You arent going to get your way how you want it. And if you are banning walls and plan to sweep, Then you can bet your opponent will sweep you right back lol. You are banning things from the both of you, not just yourself.
4. I think its better than it would take longer to build a wide range of good comp pokemon. To compete at a higher level, you should be expected to have a wider range of pokemon to choose from. think going 5v5 or 4v4 with 2 bans could be more do-able for most people. but I would still like 3 bans each. League of Legends, the players have access to a lot of champions, but just like pokemon, there are obviously champions that are more typical for competitive play. So they will ban more typical champions to make people use not so meta strategies. Would make duel less repetitive, and make you think a lot more.
5. I understand, but the point is, if you ban out those walls, then you wont be able to use them either, so the other person could have free range to just have sweepers as well. Same thing as with league. If they ban out all the tanks, then both teams adapt to have no tanks, thus both are still even in the way that they will both just be using hard hitters only. If more tournaments were set up this way I would for sure take part more often. That is my personal opinion of course, it just makes it way more interesting.
6. Its just a 1 duel ban that the players select. Makes it so someone cant just use the same meta pokemon over and over. They have to have a wider array and strategies.
7. Would just have to take into consideration how many different "comp" pokemon there are, then deduce down whether it would be best to do 3 bans each, 2 bans each, or whatever. 3 bans each would just make it much more interesting and fun to to have to be ready with a wide range of different pokemon.
8. I pictured it mainly for tournement play. But, it could just be another option in duel style when requesting.
9. In competitive League of Legends, each team picks 3 champions that cannot be used in that battle. After the bans are selected, the teams alternate picking champions until the team is full. This comp style would require players to have a wide range of comp pokemon, knowledge of all pokemon, and strategies! When a player accepts a duel, an interface can pop up similar to the LoL picking interface, and the trade screen where the player would have access to their PC to pick out their pokemon, and the other player can see their picks, they go back and forth until they both have full parties and the duel begins. Here is a link to a comp LoL match and you can watch the picks/bans at the very beginning!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bk73rHSvtSI
Here is an example of what the Picks and Bands Interface can look like.

This keeps comp players from getting stuck into one meta strategy! Constantly switching up play style and pokemon used! Keeping the game interesting! League of legends is the biggest competitive game in the world, they clearly have done it right! Thoughts?
