    1)Go to your setting

    2) change arrows to WSAD

    3) find encounter or pvp battle

    4) open pokedex while in encounter

    5) Try to type pokemon name which contains W,S,A or D

    6) see what's happens >_>

    gl hf on that kek

I have played this game for years and I have never understood why the Pokédex was lagging sometimes in PvP. Thank you.

You may be the only person discussing its bulk here, right now, but not in discord, neither you were the only that also pushed the argument before. Sorry if the wording offended you in particular, but it wasn't my point. Just wanted to express that such is an irrelevant discussion to have as of the moment.

Gallade wasn't nerfed for long enough to be dropped, and it also suffered from a lag syndrome. I am sure it would drop if more time passed.

Everything you said after that just reinforces that if you want to discuss Gallade, make it when it comes to the absurd dev agenda, as you claimed. That's the only valid concern about it. Custom changes like that are an awful precedent and we should be discussing that instead of trying to argue its brokenness in a format that has proved countless times doesn't exist.

The thing is that right now arguing that Gallade should go back to 1.5 is arguing for Gallade to be changed again. Enough is enough. We don't want this to change for a 3rd time in 6 months. At some point, even if Sharpness should be removed, nerfed or buffed is of no importance. We should aim for the status quo because we can't afford to change shit up every 10 seconds and have to go through all of this again.

Also, this is probably the only pokemon game in existence where a Pokemon was banned out of sheer panic, its nerfed version was completely irrelevant in the tier, people realized it wasn't as broken as they claimed in the offensive side, they buff it, and then the same people now complain that it's bulkier than it seems.

"the same people no complain that it's bulkier than it seems"

I never pushed for a Gallade ban or against it. I only pushed against constantly changing shit up with custom bullshit. Considering I am the only one refusing the unfounded argument that Gallade has no bulk, you can't say "the same people" because the only references me and I have not pushed for a ban.

Also, nerfed Gallade was not irrelevant in OU because if it was it would have felt to UU. And even if Gallade did become irrelevant in OU, who the fuck cares? There is no requirement for Gallade to be relevant anywhere. Should we make custom changes to Caterpie to ensure it becomes relevant in OU? No. Gallade doesn't require special treatment.

And the reason we are discussing Gallade is because everyone knows what is going on here:

    1. Devs fucked up by adding Sharpness
    2. Devs nerfed Sharpness
    3. Devs don't want Sharpness to stay nerfed, so they buff it slowly but surely until it goes back to it's original format

There is clearly a hidden agenda that we are not told because devs would no go through so much trouble just to buff/nerf a random pokemon constantly for no apparent reason. Maybe Gallade is one of their favorite pokemon. Maybe they invested in some Gallade stocks. Who knows? Overall, we have to deal with this mess and that's why it's getting discussed. Not because it will change the outcome of anything, but because there is no where else to vent about this non sense.

how can u say this when u just posted calcs of it being 2hkod by RESISTED attacks, let's say its as bulky as u say and its hard to revengekill (which it isnt) the same mons that can check it defensively with a 1.4boost will keep doing so with 1.5 so why have it custom changed instead of the way its intended when its clearly not broken

On the special side, Gallade has extremely good bulk and on the physical side Gallade has mediocre bulk (not paper tho). Gallade is therefore not a glass cannon since it's not paper on either side of the spectrum.

I posted calcs where Gallade has 0 defensive investments. The fact it gets 2hkod by RESISTED attacks is insanely irrelevant. Think about it for more than 2 seconds. Is anyone going to claim that Volcarona or Starmie are paper because they get 2hkod by Close Combat Lucario, Conkeldur or Mienshao? Is Physically Defensive Skarmory Paper because it gets 2HKO by Spec Draco Meteor Hydreigon? Is Hydreigon Paper because it gets 2hko by Scarf Flare Blizt Darmanitan? Of course not, who the fuck cares. The fact that they can take 1 hit is more than enough. I already pointed out that nearly all physical attacks vs Gallade are either neutral or resisted anyways. The fact that most physical mons do not OHKO Gallade is enough proof that Gallade is not paper. Typing matters.

I'm not arguing anything regarding 1.4 vs 1.5 Sharpness. I wasted enough time to talk about this and devs don't care, they will do w.e they want regardless of anything we say. I just completly disagree with the implication that it's okay for Gallade to be buffed because on the other hand, it's paper. Gallade is not glass cannon.

So all you need is rocks up. Got it 😂

It's not like leftovers and/or any defensive investment were impossible on Gallade. I'm just showing the best case scenario for the physical mons of the tier vs Gallade and as you can see Gallade is clearly not paper.

  6. Just now, kiwi said:

bruh u cant be claiming 68/60

is not paper, espeon gets full investment in defenses and doesnt take atks very well from from mons that arent walls, and as I said what takes on gallade at 1.4 does at 1.5

It's 68/65 and that's not paper at all. Gallade is only weak to Flying and Ghost. Aside from Skarmory in OU, nothing hits Gallade super effectively on the physical side. Sure, there are some mons that carry acrobatics sometimes like Gliscor and Scizor, but that's pretty much it.

    252+ Atk Dragonite Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 109-129 (76.2 - 90.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 121-144 (84.6 - 100.6%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

    252+ Atk Gyarados Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 103-123 (72 - 86%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 92-109 (64.3 - 76.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252 Atk Excadrill Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 124-147 (86.7 - 102.7%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

    252 Atk Life Orb Mienshao Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 91-108 (63.6 - 75.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 120-142 (83.9 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Icicle Spear (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gallade: 129-156 (90.2 - 109%) -- approx. 56.3% chance to OHKO

When Gallade without any defensive investment survives or has a decent chance to survive any stab move from physical mons that outspeed it, Gallade is not paper.

Paper would be Kabutops on the special side getting ohko by the vast majority of special attackers in the tier. Paper would be Dugtrio. Paper would be Weavile. Even Darmanitan with 105 base stat HP is more Paper than Gallade, so there is no reason to call Gallade paper.

Gallade is not a glass cannon, it's way way too bulky to be considered one. It's just a strong mon and its defenses are hardly a drawback.

  7. Espeon has less physical bulk than Gallade and yet it's still played as a physical wall. Gallade's physicial bulk is really not that bad. I'm not saying 1.5 Sharpness is broken or isn't. I just disagree with the argument that Gallade can be powerful because on the other hand it's paper. Gallade is not paper, it's more bulky than what people claim.

edit: I used to play Medicham as a physical wall in OU because Psychic / Fighting is an amazing defensive typing. Medicham has 60 base stat HP and 75 base stat Def where as Gallade has 68 base stat HP and 65 base stat Def. These two are really not that far apart.

  8. It's not really interesting to see the same sets being played over and over, especially since those do not get updated.

Auto generating the mons based on all the data guathered in the OU/UU/NU ladders would be ideal imo. It's an enormous amount of work to constantly update manually the database of these sets. There is so many things to improve in PokeMMO. Updating Randoms manually when it could be done automatically seems like a colossal waste of time.

Edit: There was 150 000 Garchomps sets that won games in OU in October 2023. The data is getting collected already. When you receive a Garchomp on your team for Randoms, it should be one of the 150 000 Garchomp sets that were played and tested already. This would keep random interesting. There is no reason to limit each mons to a few bland sets when there is litteraly a gold mine of data that could be used to spice things up.

On top of that, if the Randoms ladder was using true competitive sets that are relevant in the OU/UU/NU ladder, it would make it easier for new players to be introduced to the PokeMMO metas. The Randoms ladder is right now completly disconnected for the competitive scene and there is big missed opportunity there.

  9. Grinding can be fun if the grinding doesn't involve massive amount of RNG, draining resources constantly and the rewards down the line are worth something. If devs choose to scale up difficulty based on RNG, players should not have to spend resources to attempt the boss then. If devs choose to scale up difficulty based on skill, then the boss needs a timer, players need to scout which version of the boss they are facing during the encounter, etc.

Also, every single event in the past 3 years has been either nerfed or buffed at the half way point. What's the purpose of this aside from fucking people over? When the event is nerfed, players who bothered to put in the work to grind the event get completly screwed because all they have farmed is now worthless. When the event gets buffed, the players who bothered to put in the work to grind the event get completly screwed over because they can't farm anymore. Nerfing or buffing any event is very disrespectful to the playerbase.

These events used to be accessible to everyone. You could enter the xmas event with nothing and you could still have a spot on the leaderboard if you played your cards correctly. You could beat up kids during the Halloween event and still make more money than regular gym runs. When it comes to gameplay, economy and balancing, these events are just poorly designed.

  10. The XMAS event was always pretty good. However, last year's event was awful. We had to breed 16 mons, lvl them up and ev train them just to end up having to use Struggle to clear waves for 24 hours. The XMAS event used to be fun and accessible to everyone. There was none of that last year. I don't mind grinding, but last year was just so dumb.

The Lunar New Year event was pretty good last year. I hope it stays the same and more importantly I hope it doesn't get completly changed in the middle of the event. That was a huge hype killer considering all the time and effort players wasted into developping strategies.

  11. I'm creating this thread to discuss the different features exclusive to the Halloween event and how these features interact with each other. So far in PokeMMO history, we had 8 iterations of the Halloween event.

At first, the event was simple with few features and now much more developped with a lot to do:

    • Beating Up Children for
      • Goodie Bags
    • Catching Halloween Exclusive Swarms Pokemon for:
      • Particles
      • Cookies
    • Doing the Wisp & Cat quests for:
      • High Ivs Pokemon with Hidden Ability
      • Alpha Halloween Exclusive Pokemon
    • Beating Up Pumpking Minibosses for:
      • Special Candy
    • Beating Up the Pumpking Boss Easy Mode for:
      • 5 Goodie Bags
    • Beating Up the Pumpking Boss Hard Mode for:
      • 5 Pumpking Goodie Bags
      • Boss Particles
      • Shiny Boss Particles

I personally think staff has done a good job adding on more features to this event each year. There is a lot to do and that's good. However, I think there are some important flaws when some of the added features completly invalidate previous features. I'm obviously talking about Beating Up Children for Goodie Bags. This was the first feature ever added to the event and goes back to the first Halloween event in 2015. Sadly, in the past 2 years, Beating Up Children for Goodie Bags has become completly pointless. It takes significantly more time and effort to farm 5 Goodie Bags by Beating Up Children than simply beating up the Boss in Easy Mode. Even players not interrested in the Boss fight will earn more by Beating Up Minibosses and selling the Special Candies on the GTL. No one calls out kids locations in the Global Chat anymore because the only thing players want to farm is the Minibosses.

Beating Up Children was the core of our previous Halloween Event and it's a shame this feature is now completly irrelevant. Imo, the reward structure of each feature should be changed. If it were up to me, the Pumpking Boss Easy Mode should not reward players with Goodie Bags, but instead with a large portion of different Cookies and consumable necessary to beat the Pumpking Boss in Hard Mode. Goodie Bags should remain a Beating Up Children Exclusive Reward. So I'm proposing the following reward structure:

    • Beating Up Children for
      • Goodie Bags
    • Catching Halloween Exclusive Swarms Pokemon for:
      • Particles
      • Cookies
    • Doing the Wisp & Cat quests for:
      • High Ivs Pokemon with Hidden Ability
      • Alpha Halloween Exclusive Pokemon
      • Cookies
    • Beating Up Pumpking Minibosses for:
      • Special Candy
    • Beating Up the Pumpking Boss Easy Mode for:
      • 5 Goodie Bags
      • Cookies
      • Consumables (X+ items, Potions, Full Heals, etc.)
    • Beating Up the Pumpking Boss Hard Mode for:
      • 5 Pumpking Goodie Bags
      • Boss Particles
      • Shiny Boss Particles

Anyhow, this is what I think of the Halloween event. What do you guys think could be improved or changed?

Ah yes, that's right Porygon2 was banned for being an offensive uber. How could I forget... oh wait because it wasn't. It was banned for being unhealthy for the tier and too good not to use. Its offensive and defensive traits played into that, but neither of which determined the ban.

P2 was banned for fitting Defensive and Offensive Uber Characteristics. I told you how stupid it was at the time to ban it as an offensive uber. You made fun of me. Munya censored my posts where I pointed out it was a bad precedent to ban P2 as an Offensive Uber. I got a warning point for arguing against this bad decision. Now you are acting like it never happened and it was banned as unhealthy all along.

Look at the facts before making shit up please:
    ab796181b7700e3524dbbc7cbe0c6092.png

When P2 was retested, you opened a P2 discussion thread where you acknowledged again that P2 was banned partly as an Offensive Uber:
    4ed7092439532fef3dc95ebffda606b0.png

P2 was not banned as unhealthy. You know it was not banned as unhealthy. I'm not a big fan of Caoix, but you can't blame the guy for his confusion over the awful precedent you set for the community by banning p2 for the wrong reason and then ignoring the mistake pointed out to you.

I have no idea why P2 is being mentionned at all, but I had to say something after seeing that blatant revisionist lie for which you got me in trouble.

-Pokemon Species and Item clause has been added. No same items, no same pokemon species (ex: no Jolteon and Vaporeon on the same comp).

Is Pokemon Species clause different in PVE compared to PVP? I'm asking because Jolteon and Vaporeon would be allowed in the same team in PVP.
