  1. I can understand some people have reservations about the new breeding system. I still remain fairly active as a player in game and when I first heard about it I had some doubts too. But when I tried it out I realised that this system can be really efficient in trying to achieve what we want.

I set myself a breeding project to try out the new system, my goal was to breed a Bold Wingull with the egg move Gust. Here is what I ended up with:

    o2L7GSB.pngRnQe5Ys.png

This took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes of catching time to get the right wild Pokemon I needed and took me 4 eggs to get to this point. I used 3 everstones and some power braces and it cost me around 200-250k. In my opinion this is a Pokemon I would have no issue using competitively. I believe that this is definitely achievable and a move in the right direction.

RacheLucario also tried breeding from scratch and she was able to hatch this:

Standards of competitive Pokemon will fall inevitably but I don't feel that this is a bad thing. This way people are still able to achieve IVs they need through power braces but there wont be a fixation on having 5x31 Pokemon that I personally never liked.

    AWWWH moemon so cute ;_;

if noad can do it, I can do it 0.5x better

I had a question about shiny breeding, but then I thought "Wait lel, lets not spoil it.  I'll just wait until someone actually tries it hue."

    R.I.P. new players.

lol I dont think the idea was "make everyone able to breed godly comps with 0 dollars" but meh, we all worked our way up under worst circumstances.  Biggest issue is I worked my way up by borrowing EvilSneasels decent eevee and sold shit eevees to 500k cash and the new system wont allow it .  I'm sure there'll be different moneymaking opportunities in hoenn.

  2. Ok then I'm good to go.just bring Me the real thing and I think you guys would have done an amazing job. Sacraficibv a 4 31 ditto will be worth it

inb4 inherits all 3 IVs from the 6x10 beldum you just caught, and averages the lowest ones lel
also save the ditto, it might be worth something later

  3. That's the thing- there are no "shitty eggs" anymore
You can exactly pick the IVs you want in your offspring by choosing your breeders and have 80%-100% chance of transferring nature.
Only thing that is going is breeders.
I think this system is better, removes RNG shit.

welcome to the pro-hoenn side bishav.

    enjoy your CatchMMO <3

I would like to know why breeding was first disabled and afterwards this bomb was dropped on us.
I would have preferred to know about upcoming changes first and still be able to breed maybe for another two week with the old system to better adapt. May I know why breeding had to be disabled? (And may we just get old breeding back at least for these last days please?)

I think the changes will be advantageous for people that are set with a lot of (godly) comps at their disposal while I fell it makes it more difficult for newer player to catch up with them or even enter the comp scene at all.
The new system might be good for players who haven't started breeding yet and will now have an easier time to inherit good IVs.
But for anybody who grinded a lot to be able to breed his first comps the day breeding got disabled, this is some sort of disaster (just guess who the unlucky guy is :'D  ).

Finally, may I be so bold to ask the following:
Since (appereantly) some time and effort were spent to (maybe) improve the breeding system that was already implemented,
may I ask how far the progress is concerning the ingame Auction House which some people are awaiting more to ease and improve overall trading?
Thanks for information on that, I somehow didn't didn't see any in the post concerning the upcoming changes.

From what I understand kyu(or some other mod) said something that /could/ have caused a whole bunch of breeders to just start mass producing stuff, which would mean all of the breeders would have been loaded with 3x31-6x31s right now if they hadn't of stopped breeding entirely.  I know from experience I can get a pretty good amount of 3x30-31s in a single day, and that's with only one great parent and one decent one.  Imagine if you had pretty much most of december to breed these "consumable" 3x31s-6x31s and were able to bring about 50 of them into this new breeding system which would make it easier to breed.
That's my understanding of it, could use a mod or someone more informed than me to clarify.  Ultimately it was to protect the economy of the new game.

  4. I see a lot of people complaining about the gap between new and old players in terms of competitive play. What would you have preferred? A server wipe of some sort? The damage that was/is 5x31s comps is done and cannot be undone without a wipe, so the best method is to allow it to slowly fix itself over time. I keep laughing at this thread because people are trying to use this gap as a reason for why the new breeding is bad... well the alternative would have made you furious so I'd be thankful. Fixing the market isn't going to be instantaneous but this system could put it on the path for it.

    Just my opinion though ^_^

The new breeding seems absolutely wonderful.  Really well balanced and has a nice breeder sink so the market doesn't get flooded, the problem is that like you said the damage has been done and it worries myself (even though I have enough comps and UTs to get by) that the rich guys that bought loads of comps pre-update are going to be set for a long time, and their only competition is gonna be other guys with loads of comps from pre-update.
I think eventually our new fusion breeds will catch up to the newer ones, and if not so what.  A comp doesn't HAVE to be 6x31 to be good, a lot of my comps are welfare and work fine.  It's just learning what works and what doesn't.  Either way, I support this update even if nothing is done about pre-update comps.
If all else fails the metagame will change to suit the majority, and eventually we'll have comps that outclass pre-update ones in some way or another.  We'll always find a way (says the guy who still uses Butterfree in OU)
btw emlee thanks for your posts, I use the one about item locations practically daily  o/

  5. 1 IV from the parent holding it.

    Also to generally clarify;

3 IVs are averaged between the two parents.

The other 3 are randomly directly inherited from each.

Giving a parent a brace item allows you to select one of the 3 directly inherited IVs.

so breeding was buffed in the sense that if you stick 2 6x31s in the fusion chamber you're guaranteed to get a 6x31, but nerfed so that it'd cost 2 of them to do it and only makes one.  This actually seems like a pretty decent balance, I dont see the market getting flooded so quickly this time because there's a pokemon sink.  Now the race to be the first one to become a god tier Hoenn breeder is on, I'll begin my research c':

  6. Well I'm a comp player so I need everytime new comps and if I can't breed easily or if I need to sac my breeders to hatch an egg , or even take the risk to sac some godlies breeder to hatch a shitty egg then yeah I don't have any reasons to stay there.

Wait until I get these mechanics down, or someone else does.  Someone is gonna make a guide saying "This is how you breed" and everyones gonna git gud.  If I happen to be the first one to get good at it, I'll make a guide as soon as I can lel.  If not i'll just dedicate an insane amount of time to perfecting someone elses and we can all have godly comps again

  7. I think this is not the breeding system we need right now. With 200 hours of play now i have like 40 Comps with great IVs moveset etc.. . How many players can make all this with this new system ? I don't really care ' cause i have still loads of UTs in the box but this isn't the point. It will lock the competitive play with always the same players that have like 3-4 Lax, 2 Skarm, 4 Gengar etc.. . Even with like good Iv wild pokes etc.. none will ever sell comps , I if i breed a great Starmie i'm gonna keep it for myself instead of selling it. This will also slow greatly the Hoenn Meta.

this is something that's bothering me too about this /nerf/ if it is a nerf.  Honestly I think I could do better with this breed system than the other, but I'll just have to try it out and see.

  8. I'm talking long term here, the game as a whole, these changes had to come sooner or later, just continuing the way it was would've been much worse, even if it means that certain players that already possess godly comps are now well off with the pokes they've bred before the comming update

Maybe the difference between people like you and me is that in my opinion pokemmo isn't just about PvP and winning against other players, I'm trying to see the big picture and I'm excited how the game evolves

except that now the people who were god tier at competitive play are going to win all the shinies (frags, im talking to you) because they are not only better, but have comps better than anything the newbs will have.

  9. There is a spot in Hoenn called 'Desert Underpass' where Ditto has an encounter rate of 50+%

I can imagine people are just gonna camp dittos from now on, as they're the safest investment with Fusion breeding.  I dunno this seems interesting, if it doesn't turn out good just quit.  I don't think the Devs would have taken so much time on it if they didn't feel it was at least somewhat fun.

  10. The only way I can see this working "well" is if the wild pokemon have better iv's than just random. Cos right now those with old breeding comps have a huge advantage and those that latched onto them like leeches to borrow their breeders *cough* can no longer do so w/out losing their pokes. This has become a "single" player game rather than a team effort imo.

Also if something gets an egg move that needs to be transfered through more than 1 pokemon, its going to take a long time to get a good child with said egg move, should either make wild encounters have a chance to have a random egg move (like oras) or have an egg move tutor for money/ another colour shard.

if a server wipe were to happen, it would become an independent game instead of a "hang out with the rich kids with a 6x31 in every group, or suck at this game.  take your pick" game.  if no server wipe, eh the downside to old comps is they'll never be able to get new eggmoves/natures without fusion, which takes a lot of risk.  can't say if this is gonna be a good or bad update, but may the RNG be ever in our favor

  11. I'm thrilled about the breeding changes, breeding pokes with perfect IV's and what not kind of ruined the game for me anyway, this balances the whole game perfectly and makes it so much more fun and worth playing

I like that I have a reason to go into tall grass again lol
I wonder if shiny values will drop because everyone is camping grassy areas

    • Storyline-given party members are now considered 'Gifts'.
    • These party members may not be traded and may not be bred.
    • This encompasses: Starters from trainer's respective region, NPC Trades, and freely obtained gifts (Lapras, Eevee, etc.)
So rip breeding Hoenn starters and Metagross for comp play, why is it that you tease new toys then don't let us have them?

darkshade said how this is gonna work over on my post, spread the knowledge \o/

    - The entire Gift section. Does this mean it's going to be impossible to breed/get any kind of Eeveelution as they're considered gifts? The issue I see with this is that pokes that can't be copied means a low supply, and in the case of Eeveelutions and Aerodactyls a high demand. Are we just going to deal with whatever we get on our playthrough? The easiest fix I can see to this is an area where Gifted pokemon species were able to be caught fairly regularly. Swarms seem too unreliable, but it would bring more value to swarms than just praying for a good shiny.

That is a 'this point on' sort of thing.
Gift Pokemon now also have renewable sources.

this means any pokes pre-update are fine, perfectly breedable and tradeable.  anything gifted by say oak, untradeable and castrated.  wild caught charmander, tradeable and breedable.
correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding.

  12. Now this does sound pretty cool in regards to breeding for hidden power. To be honest, I won't mind the more mathematical approach to being successful in regards to the new breeding process, however I'm sure a lot of other players will unfortunately.

I already got super complex into my breeding when I was going for 6x31 wooper from near scratch, so this is second nature to me.  I like the idea of actually having to have some skill to breed.  NO MORE 10 YEAR OLD BREEDERS \o/
also darkshade server wipe pls to make it fair
