2. Fine, "pulse", I'll give it a go against your stubbornness. Let's start with a crash course into tiering, prediction should never be used as an argument. It goes both ways, and as you may predict something, your opponent could do it too. And no, unlike what you seem to believe, we do not want everything to be based off good predictions, as a match can be won in more ways than that. Teambuilding and team matchup are as important as what you do in battle, as well as how many times doing your safest and best play is better than pulling off risky predictions. The best players are the ones that can see the battle as an ensemble of long term decisions and those who manage to understand the risk and reward behind each of their and their opponent's move, so don't you dare call other people out on "not using their brain", because flailing around about predictions doesn't make you any better than anyone else, it just shows that you're an average player with some knowledge about the game. Now onto each of the Pokémons you keep talking about. Magneton is indeed a nice partner to Salamence and it aids in making it very hard to deal with, yet it is not the actual problem. I agree that trapping abilities are uncompetitive, but in the case of Magnet Pull you have to look at it from both ways. Unlike the case of Arena Trap and Shadow Tag that had got the boot to Ubers earlier because they trapped a majority of the metagame, Magnet Pull affects only the Steel type. And in case you didn't bother to check, Steel typing is one of the best, if not the best defensive typing in the game, giving immunity to one type and resisting 11 of the total of 17 types available to us. If you run a Steel type this is the risk that you have to play with: one Pokémon that may end your fun run. Magneton is not the greatest Pokémon you want to run, but its utility comes from the fact that Steel types put such a big pressure on many offensive Pokémons; and it's not how you might want it to be like, where Magneton hinders them. Magneton was used before too, and not because Salamence needed it, but because Steel types were THAT good. Salamence is crazy good, and your attitude towards this problem only shows how ignorant you are of other opinions. You did not invent the wheel by discovering Protect, you just showed yourself how much Salamence negatively influences teambuilding, yet you just don't want to give up. Salamence got the power and the movesets to break through the majority of teams, and the fact that you have to bring a bulky water plus a steel type too maybe stop it shows once again how unhealthy it is. Ban Magneton, be my guest, but Salamence has other partners than can just as easily break through your "skills". Just as I mentioned the Steel typing earlier as a good defensive typing, Dragon typing falls under the category of one of the best offensive types. It is only resisted by one type, and like it wasn't enough, it usually comes packed on a monster with huge offensive stats: 135/110 on Salamence and 134/100 on Dragonite, as an example. So can you, please, stop with all this nonsense? Salamence does not need your spam, and neither do we find any fun in reading the same repetitive argument. Roll with it, accept the change for now, because none of us want an unhealthy meta. If Magneton will rise to be a problem I am sure it will be dealt with, just as other broken Pokémons were dealt with when they had negative influence on our metagame.
3. Don't worry I'll blow you all back with an awesome submission on the 18th of this month.
4. Because "emerald" is a testing server, the split is going to be universal when the actual update goes live. Can you please stop? You keep using your own economic needs as reason why this should not happen, which is stupid. No one cares about your boxes, because we all lose something in the process, but it's for the better. Yes, it may be a rushed decision to implement it now without some moves to make up for the split, but it's a step in the right direction. I was writing more on the paragraph above but you just posted this and showed how much you know about the whole competitive scene, which equals zero. As a tip, if your Pokémons used Gen III physical Hidden Powers they don't need new EVs, they need physical moves to cover what they lost; and if your Pokémons used Gen III special Hidden Powers they are as fine as they were before.

gen IV damage ?

Welcome Crunch Ursaring.
6. You've been playing a Pokémon MMO for this year you're talking about, I call bullshit on this "valuable life". On topic, I'd be all for a wipe. Sure I'll be salty for a while about the shinies I happened to encounter and the Pokémons I spent time making, but I really believe it would be for the best, especially if the damage split happens.
7. Ah, completely forgot it got Curse for a moment there. Added that to the post, along with a Rest+Chesto Berry option for the Curse set.
8. Adding a Reversal set for Combusken. Oh and it gets Thunder Punch, so you don't have to bother with Hidden Power. I was also thinking of the CB Marshtomp set, but yeah, Piloswine was the reason I didn't bother writing one. Torkoal on the other hand; Torkoal Fire Abilities: White Smoke Base Stats: 70 HP 85 Atk 140 Def 85 SpA 70 SpD 20 Spe Total: 470
Defensive Support Nature: Relaxed Item: Leftovers EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def Moveset: Rapid Spin Flamethrower Yawn/Toxic/Will-o-Wisp/Explosion Protect Given the fact that Torkoal acts like both a defensive wall and a spinner, investing in its already impressive defensive stat is not a bad idea, as it enables it to survive two Double Edges from CB Pidgeot even if coming in on three layers of spikes. STAB Flamethrower hits hard enough to punish most switchins. The last two moveslots are a matter of teambuilding; Protect is useful to gain extra turns of Leftovers recovery that may come in handy, and the status move of choice can aid the team with either passive damage or setup opportunities given by Yawn. Explosion can be a last ditch effort to take out an opposing Pokémon late-game when Torkoal has done its job. Choice Band Nature: Brave Item: Choice Band EVs: 252HP/ 252Atk Moveset: Explosion Rock Slide Earthquake Overheat Most of the time this set won't do much, as Torkoal's speed won't give it the chance to finish the job if it doesn't 1HKO its opponent. At best, it can be used as a lure to draw in a defensive Pokémon that your team has trouble with and 1HKO it on the switch with Explosion. Curse Nature: Relaxed/ Sassy Item: Leftovers/ Chesto Berry EVs: 252HP/ 252SpD Moveset: Earthquake Rock Slide Curse Fire Blast/Rest As Torkoal doesn't have the worst special defense and it doesn't lose anything by lowering its speed stat, a Curse set is also viable. Investing in its special defense helps it survive some hits if it needs to while setting up and the lack of physically defensive investments are rapidly backed up by the Curse boosts it gets. The last move slot can either use a STAB Fire Blast to get past physically defensive Pokémons that might try to stop Torkoal, such as Tangela or Mawile, or it can use the popular Resto-Chesto combination to get rid of any status ailment that it suffered while boosting up.
CB Torkoal new meta I'm telling you.
9. Sweet then, here we go then: Combusken Fire / Fighting Abilities: Blaze Base Stats: 60 HP / 85 Atk / 60 Def / 85 SpA / 60 SDef / 55 Spe Total: 405 Working similarly as a Blaziken in OU, it boasts noticeable wall breaking capabilities.
Swords Dance Nature: Adamant / Lonely Item: Leftovers, Lum Berry EVs: 128 HP/ 252 Atk/ 128 Speed Moveset: Swords Dance Sky Uppercut Rock Slide Overheat The given EV spread maximizes Combusken's attack. The speed EVs allow it to outspeed uninvested base 70s at level 50, namely Dewgong and Onix. With this spread Combusken is able to 2HKO even the most dedicated defensive Dewgong if it decides to switch in. Overheat gives the chance to get past physical walls that would otherwise put an end to Combusken's run, such as defensive Tangela and Intimidate Mawile. Sacrificing bulk over power for Overheat by using a Lonely nature is not entirely suggested, as the only things it may be noticeable on is not grabbing the clean 1HKO on 252HP Piloswine(in which case it does 90%-107% damage) or on specially defensive Roselia, which loses to Rock Slide if it lacks the physical bulk. As increasing the speed even further is not profitable, the rest of EVs are invested in HP, extending its longevity and enabling Combusken to take some hits from defensive Pokémon if ever needed. Choice Band Nature: Adamant / Jolly Item: Choice Band EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed Moveset: Focus Punch Sky Uppercut Rock Slide Overheat This set maximizes power and speed, as it will act as a hit and run Pokémon rather than a sweeper. As reminded in the Swords Dance set, using a negative defense nature is up to the user's choice, yet not entirely needed. Predict right and get the rewards, predict wrong and pick fodders. Endure + Reversal Nature: Hasty/Naive Item: Salac Berry EVs: 252 Atk / 56 SpA/ 200 Spe Moveset: Endure Reversal Overheat Swords Dance/Thunder Punch With a positive speed nature and 200 speed EVs, Combusken manages to outspeed Jolly Raticate after the Salac Boost. As defenses are not important on this set, using a Hasty or Naive nature allows Combusken to hit harder on the special side too. The SpA EVs maximizes its damage against Pokémons that are immune or resist its Reversal, such as Sableye and Pelipper. Blaze boosted Overheat can 1HKO 252/0 Sableye and Thunder Punch hits hard enough to ensure a KO on Pelipper with only a bit of prior damage. Unlike other sets, Rock Slide is not needed, as STAB Reversal at full power hits just as hard as Super Effective Rock Slide. If Pelipper is not a problem for the other team members to deal with, Swords Dance can boost Reversal's power to insane levels if given the chance to be set up.
I know Combusken may be able to run a specially offensive set, but that is outclassed by many other special attackers, and unlike its bigger version in OU, a Salac + Endure set won't even allow it to outspeed Persian at max speed. -londar'ed Marshtomp Water / Ground Abilities: Torrent Base Stats: 70 HP / 85 Atk / 70 Def / 60 SpA / 70 SpD / 50 Spe Total: 405
Utility Nature: Relaxed Item: Leftovers EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def Moveset: Earthquake Ice Beam Surf/Toxic/Curse Protect Marshtomp is a great pivot against physically offensive threats, as it can take on and punish the common EdgeQuake combo. It also has a decent offensive presence so it can threaten out boosting sweepers such as Combusken. This set greatly appreciats Rapid Spin and Wish support, as it lacks a form of instant recovery. RestTalk Nature: Relaxed Item: Leftovers EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def Moveset: Earthquake Ice Beam/Surf/Hydro Pump Rest Sleep Talk A Rest Talk set is the only way to give Marshtomp more longevity without being dependent of its team mates. The drawback is that you lose either coverage or utility from Toxic/Protect.
I was about to write one for Torkoal as well, but I am not sure if we will get Rapid Spin on it, as it is a level up move in later generations and I cannot remember how that worked here. Breeding, perhaps.
10. Well as long as we know they are available, would it hurt to put up their basic sets? It's not like we need to officially get them first in order to know that Torkoal is a spinner and that Luvdisc sucks.
11. Eh, doesn't sound like that bad of an idea.
12. Lead Breloom without Focus Sash. Iron Ball Rotom. Dark Pulse Rotom. Dragon Rush/Tail Garchomp with Life Orb. Dragon Dancing with a Latios on the Rotom that Will-o-Wisped half your team so far. The 1000s are so much fun. Also onto building a team around Mega Pinsir, I usually go with two hazard removers tagging along, because as it is, Stealth Rocks are everywhere and it puts a lot of pressure on you, forcing you to obvious plays.
13. So now that I got my LYLE tag, I'm in for the fun. \o/ http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-152216534
14. Ditto Timid 24-27/31/28-30/4-7/31/8-10 I'll take this. You don't seem to be online now so PM me whenever you get on? IGN: Arkhelien
