  1. Sunburnt Skunk Acquired OT #2 14622 encounters female, didn't phase, AND 3x31 my first shiny was raticate during johto playthrough after 55k encounters and 6k eevee eggs, so this is a major improvement
  2. Without I started keeping track after Ho-Oh battle, but only started hard searching after red/E4
  3. While making my way up to the Ho-Oh fight I ran into a shiny raticate right at the top of the tower. Because of this raticate I decided that since I would reset my encounters anyway, I thought I might as well test the suicune encounter rate. It's been said that suicune's encounter rate increases each time you don't catch it. So I was curious and decided to see if I could observe that increased rate. My thinking was that if I ran into suicune enough times eventually he would have a really high encounter rate which could then be used to find a good catching location or simply test where he can/can't be caught. The following is my experience finding him a total of 11 times (before calling it quits and catching him). This is based on the encounters on my main character starting after I beat Ho-Oh, I could have been really lucky or really unlucky with these encounters, I don't know (just like you can go above 30k for a shiny, but also below). I've seen plenty of people say they have been hunting for days for even a single encounters, so who knows. These encounters are all single encounters, but of course running into the occasional natural horde, or taking a break for a swarm or alpha, so the encounters are pretty accurate but not 100%. If I encountered suicune I would either run or kill it. The first column is how many times I had seen suicune, the 2nd how many encounters total I was at, and the 3rd how many encounters since I last saw suicune. I then plotted the encounters vs sightings. Interestingly enough, if you look at small portions of the encounters it does look like the encounter rate increases, but when looking at all the encounters together it looks like a pretty straight line, meaning not much of a change in the encounter rate. Total encounters: 10946 Average encounters: 995 Fastest encounter: 78 ~16 min (based on an estimated 300 single encounters per hr) Longest encounter: 1893 ~ 6.5 hrs (based on an estimate 300 single encounters per hr) So the question is: Does suicune encounter rate increase each time you don't catch him? Conclusion: I honestly don't know, it's been said that it does but based on my experience there is little to no change. I know it's just a game so sorry if anyone hates math, but I was pretty curious to how this new feature works so I'm hoping some other people are too. I don't know if this is of benefit to anyone, as no one will probably ever need to encounter him more than 2 or 3 times to catch him, but I guess only time will tell.
  4. With Sinnoh cleared I planned to do Unova next. I wasn't planning on doing it so soon but after starting it I had a lot of fun, and not to mention was a piece of cake compared to the other regions, so I managed to complete it a lot faster than I expected. Now although it was a lot easier than the other regions, that doesn't mean there weren't any losses. Anyways, our journey began in my own room, where me, Bianca, and Cheren were given a choice of three pokemon. I choose Surf N Turf, the oshawot, and went on to defeat Bianca's tepig and Cheron's snivy with ease, destroying my room in the process. But that's alright, I was moving out on my journey anyways. After clearing things up with my mom we went out to start out adventure. After being shown how to catch a pokemon for like the 4th time now, we were given some pokeballs and our journey officially began. CH 1: Our first encounter was a lillipup who I named Bacon. Now if I had to choose a MVP for this region it would be Bacon. Not a pokemon who I would have expected to pull much weight, but I kid you not when I say he carried us through a massive part of the region. Anyways, after doing a little bit of training, fighting a weird guy named N or something, and beating Bianca and Cheren again we made it to the first gym in Straiton City. Like I said earlier, Bacon was MVP and after learning work up and retaliate (a 70 dmg move at lvl 12?!) swept Cilan and got us our first badge. CH 2: After our first badge we had to go deal with team plasma in the dream yard, and then made our way to Nacrene city, again defeating Cheren and dealing with team plasma. We also evolved Surf N Turf and Bacon. After that we made our way to the second gym and again and fought N. Then using Bacon's work up + retaliate combo was able to sweep Lenora's team and get our second gym badge. CH 3: After defeating Lenora team plasma showed up again and stole some old fossil, so we had to track them down in Pinwheel forest to get it back. It was here we finally added another member to the team: Strawberry the Venipede Scolipede is probably my favorite pokemon from the Unova region so I was really excited to get strawberry. My happiness was short lived however, as while tracking down team plasma and lvling strawberry a wild pansear prevented us from running away and used incinerate and killed Strawberry. With a heavy heart we pushed on and caught team plasma and retrieved the fossil. We then made our way to Castelia city where we again had to deal with team plasma (man they are everywhere aren't they?) and then fought Burgh for our next gym badge. Can you guess how it went? yep, Bacon's work up + retaliate combo swept again. CH 4: We made our way north to Nimbasa city for our next gym badge, but on the way found Sourdough the sandile who was added to the team. This was a great addition as the next gym was an electric type, so we quickly trained him and evolved him. We took a stroll through the desert resort and did some training, and in the end we were ready for Elesa and her eletric gym. We did have to fight N again before we could attempt the gym, but that wasn't an issue. Sourdough helped a lot in the gym, defeating Elesa's joltik and zebstrika while Bacon came in to finish off her two emolgas using, you guessed it, work up + retaliate. CH 5: After this gym we took a stop in Lostlorn forest where I was hoping for another venipede, but stumbled upon Cilantro the Petilil instead. Now although I didn't add Cilantro to the team right away, they would return later on. We defeated Cheren one more time then made our way to Driftveil city for the next gym match, but first we had to deal with team plasma hiding in a cold storage. Can't complain though, we found a rocky helmet while dealing with them which was nice. Anyways, after dealing with that we went and challenged Clay. Sourdough took care of his Krokorok and Surf N Turf chipped away at some of his other team members, but in the end Bacon came in and work up + retaliated the rest of the team, including his excadrill. With this victory we got our fifth badge. CH 6: We started making our way to Mistralton city, but had to defeat Bianca again. At least we added Sesame Seeds to the party who sat on the sideline for the time being. In Chargestone cave we bumped into N again. Before we went to fight the gym we stopped at Celestial tower, where we found Fondue who, just like Cilantro, would be added at a later stage to the team. Once we reached the top we were finally ready to go fight the flying gym leader Skyla. Our MVP Bacon came in to defeat her Swoobat and Swanna, then Surf N Turf finished the remainder of her team. six badges down, only one loss? This is going great. CH 7: Or so I thought. We added Cilantro to the team and decided to do some training for Sesame Seeds and Cilantro before moving on. While training, a simipour was able to 1 hit KO Soughdough using aqua tail. No critical hit, and no boosted attack, so this really shocked me. Shortly after a trainer swapped in a sawsbuck when Cilantro (now Lilligant) used a grass move, triggering its Sap Sipper ability. In came Sesame Seeds (now unfezant) to finish it off, however, in the swap the sawsbuck landed a berry boosted, sap sipper powered, attack which killed him. Although this sucked there was a silver lining, as when making our way into twist mountain we found Pork Chops the tepig, a great addition to the team. Bacon would have been a more suiting name, but I wasn't expecting to get a tepig as my encounter and thus gave that name to a Lillipup early on. Although a great type to use for the next gym, an ice gym, Pork Chops actually sat out of the fight, as Bacon took out Brycen's Dewgong, walrein, and vanilluxe using his signature move, and Surf N Turf took our his beartic and cryogonal getting our seventh badge. CH 8: With Brycen defeated we only had one gym left. But before we could tackle the last gym on our journey we had to deal with team plasma's shenanigans again. In Dragonspiral Tower we defeated team plasma, and N told us about a special dragon rock or something, idk, but we also found Doritos the drudigon. We also dealt with team plasma in Relic castle, were given a round rock, and made our way finally to the last gym. Oh yeah, we also defeated Bianca again but that was uneventful. Once we were ready to face Iris, the last gym leader, I decided I would train the team a little more. Currently we had Bacon the stoutland, Pork Chops the emboar, Cilantro the lilligant, and Surf N Turf the Samurott. Although I expected the gym to basically come down to Suft N Turn and Bacon, I still wanted to get everyone on the same level in case of emergency. This was a big mistake. While rebattling trainers, we stumbled upon a tripple battle, where a kingdra and swoobat teamed up and killed Pork Chops. Although he didn't see much battle, he will be missed. This wasn't the end, oh no, as the next trainer we battled had a fraxure. In peparation for the gym I sent out Bacon who I taught ice fang. The fraxure survived a hit and in retaliation landed a Superpower, which killed Bacon. Now this one really sucked, Bacon pulled so much weight and basically carried us all the way to the eighth gym. This unexpected hero will be greatly missed. Regardless we must push on, and with Surf N Turf knowing ice beam, he was able to single handedly sweep Iris' team, avenging Bacon, for our eighth and final gym badge. CH 9: With the team now only consisting of Surf N Turf and Cilantro we needed more members. In came our next encounter: Parfait the vullaby. As the next step on our journey was victory road, I felt unsafe entering with only two pokemon, so we had a lot of training to do to get parfait evolved and up to par. Once evolved however, Parfait easily defeated Cheren one last time pretty much all on her own. Victory road itself was pretty uneventful, although we did have a close call with a Gigalith using explosion. Finally we made it to the elite four. One issue though, we only had 3 pokemon. So after much thinking this is the final team I came up with. Yes only 5 pokemon, as honestly I couldn't decide on a good sixth one and also felt I didn't need one. Anyways, I wasn't sure how this would go so I decided to go for the hardest elite four member first: Marshal with his fighting types. I started with Parfait, set up two Nasty Plots, and then proceeded to sweep his entire team in one hit. the only exception being Sawk thanks to sturdy, and lucario being neutral to flying attacks which both required two hits. Regardless, one down three to go. Next I decided to go easy and deal with Shauntal and her ghost types. Parfait came in and with only one nasty plot, swept her entire team. ok. Next was Caitlin the psychic type member, who started with musharna allowing for Parfait to set up three nasty plots, just to be safe, who again one shot her entire team. Sigilyph did manage to land a nasty hit due to his speed, but also fell in one hit. ok, now it was way too easy. Finally was Grimsley who I didn't really have a plan for. Anyways I started with Doritos who took care of his Bisharp and Scrafty (almost dying to Scrafty's rocky helmet though), Surf N Turf came in and took care of his Krookodile, and Cilantro finished off by taking care of his Perloin and Absol. And with that all that was left was the champion Alder... except N had just taken his title, so after making my way through his castle, I faced him. But before I could face him the round rock I was carrying awoke, in came Caramelized Unions the Zekrom, who thanks to Doritos, we caught and completed our team of six. Caramelized Unions took care of N's Reshiram, Doritos his archeops, Fondue his klingklang, Cilantro his caracosta and zoroark, and Surf N Turf his vanilluxe. Although not as easy as the elite four, it wasn't too difficult. Now after showing N the errors of his ways Ghetsis was our last obstacle. Now the elite four was a cake walk. Ghetsis was not. Doritos took out his bisharp and chipped away at his bouffalant, Fondue took out his Cofagrigus and Cilantro his seismatoad, but then in came Hydreigon. He was scary, even Parfait my best tank had a hard time tanking a hit. After realizing this battle would go on forever unless something was done, in came Caramelized Unions who took a bullet for the team to wear him down. Thanks to Parfait chipping away at his health, and Caramelized Unions' sacrifice, Surf N Turf came in to finish Hydreigon off. Goodbye Caramelized Unions, we barely knew you. Next was Eelektross, so in came Cilantro. Cilantro easily tanked a thunder and did a ton of damage the next turn with giga drain, but the eelektross used flamethrower and killed Cilantro thanks to a life orb. I knew eelektross would know flamethrower, as many eelektrosses I had faced prior did too, so I expected to be able to tank it as I always did, but I didn't account for a life orb. This one was probably the loss that his me the most personally, as Cilantro reminded me so much of Onion the Bellossom who who was a massive part of our kanto team. In came Doritos to finish his eelektross off as well as his last pokemon bouffalant. and with that on 6/20/22 at 11:38 pm we were the Unova champion. CH 10: Although team plasma was finally disbanding and we were the new champion, there were still a few areas left to explore. With our last four team members we explored the remaining area of the Unova region. We did have a close call with Fondue who was outsped by a starmie who landed a crit. We also sadly did lose Doritos in the Challenger's cave, when a gigalith landed a critical stone edge, followed by a critical earthquake. Doritos amazingly survived the attacks but in the end the gigalith's sand veil was the final demise of Doritos. With that final death on the team we carefully defeated any remaining trainers, and with our last encounter: Ground Beef the Throh, we had completed the Unova area. Fondue, Parfait, and Surf N Turf were the Unova survivors. Reserves (in order caught): Passionfruit, Macadamia, Sunflower Seeds, Sweet Tarts, Sandwich, Jello, Baguette, Bagel, Vanilla Bean, Pecan, Cheerios, Gelato, Gelatin, Donut, Stinky Cheese, Cool Ranch, Ranch Dressing, Hostess CupCake, Cheetos, Candy Cane, Goldfish, Fritos, Pistachio, Cantaloupe, Breadloaf, Wasabi, Peppermint, Asparagus, Fish N Chips, Ground Beef Losses (in order lost): Strawberry, Sourdough, Sesame Seeds, Pork Chops, Bacon, Cilantro, Doritos I was happy to finish off my adventure on a high note: I had the least amount of losses in Unova than anywhere else, as well as my starter pokemon survived all the way until the end for once. Although I have defeated all regions I am not done, there is still one thing left to do. There are three battles which I have been postponing until I clear every region. These battles are Steven, Cynthia (Undella Town), and Morimoto. I wanted to complete all regions and based on survivors from each region compile an 'ultimate team' to face these last three bosses. I am going to be busy coming up so I wont do it right away, but it will happen, and it will require a bit of training, and thinking of who this team will consist of. Thanks for reading, Until next time.
  5. Yeah my mistake, has been a while so mixed up E4 members
  6. Hey, it's been a while. After Hoenn came Sinnoh. This region was anything but smooth sailing, probably the worst region so far. This region also took me a lot longer to finish as I was busy with other things at the time. Regardless, our Sinnoh adventure started with Barry trying to kill us off by running into some tall grass without a pokemon. Of course Professor Rowan saw this and felt sorry for the guy and decided to give us a pokemon. Barry took chimchar so I got Tortilla the turtwig, and with that our Sinnoh adventure began. CH 1: When looking at this region the encounters they were actually pretty decent, so after finding Sherbert the zubat and Peking the psyduck it looked like it would be a good run. I was wrong. While lvling the team a shinx was able to thundershock an already low hp Peking and finish him off. This was honestly my own fault as I did not expect that low a lvl shinx to know an electric move. Regardless we made our way to the first gym and easily defeated Roark for our first gym badge. Honestly up until the fifth gym nothing really eventful happened. CH 2: On our way to the second gym we stumbled upon Sprinkles the beautifly who was hiding in a honey tree and Conch Fritters the shellos. These were two great additions to the team, but we sadly lost Sherbert in the effort of catching Sprinkles. Our new trio was able to make quick work of team Galactic hiding in the Valley Windworks as well as all trainers on the way to Eterna city where we defeated Gardenia and easily got our second badge. CH 3: Fantina, the third gym leader, was easily defeated using Tortilla, now grotle, who learned bite. While fighting the trainers in the gym we did have a close call with Conch Fritters though. CH 4: On our way to the next gym we stumbled upon Sugar Cube the ponyta. This was actually a crazy good find, seeing how Sinnoh only has a handful of fire types you can encounter. Next was Maylene and her fighting gym. Honestly I was quite worried for this gym, but ended up not needing to worry at all, the team made easy work of her pokemon. CH 5: Next was Crasher Wake and his water types. But before we could go inside we had to deal with Barry again who was waiting outside the gym. Did have a close call with Barry tho as a critical hit flamewheel left Sprinkles burned on the verge of death. Regardless we were victorious, and we made our way to challenge Wake. As I overestimated Maylene, I underestimated Wake. I thought with Tortilla, now a tortera, and Conch Fritters, now a gastrodon with the ability storm drain, as well as Sprinkles in reserve, this gym would be a piece of cake. Sadly, after Conch Fritters easily defeated his Floatzel, Wake's Prinplup knew grass knot and was able to kill Conch Fritters. Tortilla came in to finish him off and then came in gyrados. As prinplup had grassknot, I expected gyrados to have ice fang, so I swapped in Sugar Cube to tank the hit, however I was wrong, the gyrados used waterfall instead and 1 hit KO'd Sugar Cube. In the end Tortilla came in and finished the gyrados and quagsire off and got us our fifth gym badge. CH 6: After getting our fifth badge we made our way north to Celestic Town. On the way we ran into a double battle which ended up being one of the worst battles I think I have had so far: a gyrados raichu tag battle. I sent in Sprinkles and Tortilla, and after Sprinkles was defeated in the first turn thanks to an ice fang + thunderbolt combo I knew I was in trouble. Tortilla could tank an ice fang, but only one, so with a heavy heart in order to win the fight I knew my best bet was for Tortilla to survive at all costs. In the end we lost Sprinkles the beautifly, Tangerine the floatzel, Almond the bidoof, and Fruit Snacks the staravia. Honestly after this tragic loss I had to take a break for a little bit, and rethink my team and strategy. After a bit of thinking I reworked and lvled my new team: Tortilla the tortera, Jelly Bean the quagsire from the Great Marsh, Oreo the houndour from route 214 (another rare sinnoh fire type), Duck Grease the psyduck from Celestic Town, Frog Legs the croagunk from route 212, and Gushers the zubat from route 209. With this new team we were able to easily beat Cyrus in Celestic Town, as well as make our way to the 6th gym: Byron. Although this gym was looking like an easy win with 2 ground types, a fire type, and a fighting type, we ran into Barry again right before the gym. This fight was a lot tougher than before and in the end we lost Jelly Bean, Oreo (now houndoom), and Frog Legs (now toxicroak) to Barry's team. This sucked. we literally lost 3 out of the 4 aces up our sleeve for the steel type gym. Although this sucked, there was a silver lining: Blue Rasberry, a riolu we found on Iron Island (a rare spawn). Although he would not be a Lucario in time for the gym I was happy at this rare encounter. In the end we did defeat Byron with our remaining team and get our 6th badge, but did lose Duck Grease (now Golduck) to Byron's magnezone, I know it was a bad matchup, but I thought he could handle it. CH 7: Next was Candice the 7th gym leader. Her ice types made me worried for Tortilla and Gushers (now crobat). We lvled our team and got some new additions and when it came time to face here we had: Tortilla the tortera, Gushers the crobat, Blue Rasberry the Lucario, Red Velvet Cake the Sneasel from route 217, Cauliflower the Abomasnow who was a snover from the Acuity Lakefront, and Drumstick the golduck who was a psyduck from Eterna City. In the end Candice was defeated and we got our 7th badge but did have a close call with Cauliflower to her mamoswine. CH 8: Finally we were ready for the 8th gym. Before we could make our way tho we had to deal with team Galactic trying to summon a legendary pokemon, you know, the usual. we have to face Mars and Saturn? should be a piece of...... and Barry is here.... gg. Seriously tho, probably 50% of my losses this region were because of double battles, and when having to fight together with Barry lets just say it never goes well. In the end thanks to Barry's incompetence we lost Red Velvet Cake to Saturn's ambipom knowing brick break, and Cauliflower thanks to octillery knowing flamethrower. Regardless we won, but our troubles wernt over, Cyrus decided it would be a good idea to go summon the shadow pokemon so off he went to the distortion world we went. Before we left I made sure we were ready for the fights ahead and added Coconut the abomasnow, another snover we caught on route 216, and Spinach a bronzor, now bronzong we caught in Wayward Cave. After the help of the three Lake guardians we made our way and faced Cyrus. we defeated him in the end but had a close call with Gushers. after defeating Cyrus it was time for Giratina. Honestly this was another case of overestimating the enemy, as Tortilla, Spinach, and Blue Rasberry had an easy time with him. Tortilla spammed razor leaf, damaging both Giratina and his minions, while Spinach helped chip Giratina's health. All while Blue Rasberry was targeted and able to stall Giratina and his minions due to Giratina's move picking him up and making him invisible. finally we had dealt with team Galactic and were free to continue our journey to the 8th gym. Before this we decided to fight some trainers on mt Coronet, where again thanks to a double battle we had some losses. We lost Coconut the abomasnow and Drumstick the golduck, so in came Starburst a starly we caught way back on route 201, and Marshmallow Peep a psyduck from Lake Valor. No I did not learn my lesson with psyducks, they just ended up being one of the better options available from my encounters. Anyways, we lvled and evolved the new members of the team and went to face Volkner, the last Sinnoh gym leader. I know I am very smart, choosing to add 2 more weak to electric types on my team right before the gym, but don't worry about it, it all worked out in the end (but not without a close call). And with that we were ready for the elite four. CH 9: Once we finally made it to the pokemon league we were ready for the elite four, here we go. But of course Barry wanted one last rematch so I was happy to oblige and destroy his team as payback for all the losses he caused me. Now we were finally ready. First was Aaron and his bug types. Gushers and Starburst made easy work of him. Second was the ground member Bertha. She wasn't as easy as I thought she would be, but in the end Spinach, Marshmallow Peep, and Tortilla took her out. Third came Flint the fire type, who thanks to Gushers, Starburst, and Marshmallow Peep was easily defeated. Finally came Lucian the psychic member who Spinach and Tortilla made quick work of. Then it was finally time, Cynthia. She was tough, her garchomp was terrifying, and her togekiss so tanky. Eventually she was down to only her togekiss vs Starburst. Starburst was able to wear it down but in the end was defeated. With the loss of Starburst in came Marshmellow Peep to finish it off. In the end on 3/10/22 we were the champion of Sinnoh. CH 10: After becoming champion we wern't done, we took a boat to the fight area where we were met by Barry and challenged by Flint and Volkner to a double battle. This battle was Barry's revenge for crushing his dreams at the pokemon league. After a lot of thinking I went with Tortilla, Gushers, and Marshmallow Peep. In the end Tortilla alone barely made it out alive. We progressed through the area and added a few members to the team: Taco the hoppowdon from route 228, Mustard the pelliper from the Fuego Ironworks, and Fig the Dustox from route 229. Honestly I wasn't planning on keeping Fig on the team, but after looking at the IVs I changed my mind, I mean just look at it Anyways we continued our journey. Although we were nearing the end it wouldn't be a good ending. When fighting a trainer with Blue Rasberry, they sent out a Dugtrio with arena trap. This meant I could not swap out. Not being able to swap out Blue Rasberry, combined with his weakness for ground moves, dugtrio's speed and earthquake, as well as a held focus sash, spelled the demise of Blue Rasberry. This sucked, nothing feels worse than loosing a valued member that you couldnt do anything about. To add icing to the cake, shortly after Tortilla was hit by a critical hit starmie blizzard and was 1 hit KOd. At this point I was devastated and took some time off. After a long break I returned to complete my Sinnoh journey. We fought some more trainers and got our last encounter: Mud Pie the rhydon, ironic since for Kanto my final encounter was also a rhydon. Finallly after clearing all the trainers on the island we went to snuff out the last remnants of team Galactic. We faced Mars and Saturn one last time, and although not a double battle we did lose some members. Taco was killed by Mars' porygon's hyperbeam, and Mustard by drifblim's thunderbolt. We ended up victorious but were now down to just Fig and Spinach, but our troubles were not over. We were accompanied by Buck who wanted us to make it to the end of the cave and stop team Galactic for good. With both my last remaining pokemon being weak to fire, Buck's drought powered torkoal meant it was only a matter of time until one of them would perish. In the end it was Fig who was killed in a double battle thanks to torkoals drought powering the enemies pokemon's fire moves who both targeted Fig. Finally we made it to the end of the cave and put a stop to team Galactic for good. And with that our Sinnoh journey had finally come to an end. It was a long journey, longer than the rest, but its over with now and in the end only Spinach survived. Reserves (in order caught): Walnut, Parsley, Puff Pastry, Icing, Dumpling, Cough Syrup, Skittles, Cream Puff, Hazelnut, Alphabet Soup, Date, Chicken Tenders, Chives, Fruit Loops, Mandarin Orange, Berries, Lingonberry, Cashew, Wings, Peanut, Toast, Tater Tots, Rice Noodles, Noodles, Meatloaf, Cheez It, Teriyaki, Tuna, Smarties, Mud Pie Losses (in order): Peking, Sherbert, Conch Fritters, Sugar Cube, Sprinkles, Tangerine, Almond, Fruit Snacks, Jelly Bean, Oreo, Frog Legs, Duck Grease, Red Velvet Cake, Cauliflower, Drumstick, Coconut, Starburst, Gushers, Marshmallow Peep, Blue Rasberry, Tortilla, Taco, Mustard, Fig Thanks for reading. I don't know when I will complete Unova but I do plan on doing it eventually.
  7. With Kanto cleared it was time to move on to Hoenn. Once I moved in to my new home in LittleRoot Town I went and introduced myself to the neighbors. On my way home I heard someone screaming for help coming from route 101, so I did the reasonable thing: I went to eat dinner because I was hungry. Once I had a full belly I went to solve the screaming crisis and grabbed the treecko sitting on the floor and saved Professor Birch from his zigzagoon attacker. After being his savior I was given the treecko as a reward and after easily defeating May, me and Greenbean started our adventure. CH 1: After the great success I had with encounters in Kanto I was excited to see what pokemon I would find in Hoenn. Sadly when compared to Kanto the encounters from this adventure were very disappointing. After helping Wally take 2 seconds to catch a Raltz and saying hi to my "Dad?" I made my way to Rusboro City. The trip there was very uneventful, encountering mainly zigzagoons (including one named Poptart on route 102) and poochyenas and a silcoon in the Petalburg Woods where I also saved a mushroom enthusiast. I did however manage to find a nincada named Kit Kat on route 116. Although Kit Kat would be nice on the team he would be a liability for the first gym so was put safely in the PC with the rest of the reserves. With Greenbean being the main pokemon at the time it didnt take him long to evolve into a Grovyle and easily defeat Roxanne and get our first badge. CH 2: After beating the gym we fought and defeated may again using Poptart, rescued a guys kidnapped bird, and was sent off as a delivery boy. The guy who's bird I saved now owed me and offered to drive me around the waters in his boat, which we quickly used to get to Dewford town. Once there we completed our delivery in Granite Cave. We also found Beetroot the Zubat there too. With this delivery completed we made our way back to Rusboro City where we were rewarded for our delivery with an exp share. With Beetroot still a low level Greenbeen again easily defeated Brawly and earned us our second gym badge. CH 3: With badge number 2 secured, we went to Slateport and liberated the museum from team aqua, and continued on to Mauville City. On the way there Poptart evolved into a Linoone, and Beetroot into Golbat. Once evolved Beetroot single handedly defeated May's team on route 119. Originally I would have liked maybe an aron, but when preparing for the fight with may I realized that an aron would have been the death of me. Beetroot was the only pokemon at the time that stood a chance at taking on May's combusken. All other pokemon on our team and in reserves were weak to either fire or fighting. After Beetroot mopped the floor with Wally we took on Wattsons gym for our third badge. Greenbeen and Poptart easily won this badge for us. CH 4: On our way north to Fallarbor town we bumped into a maril we named Blueberry who then evolved into an azumaril. Once we passed through Fallarbor town we made our way to Meteor falls where we bumped into team magma and then looped back to Mt Chimney and defeated Team Magma and their leader Maxie. With this victory we went to Lavaridge town for our fourth gym battle against Flannery. Her Torkoal did a lot of damage due to its drought powering up its moves, but once the sun faded Blueberry was able to easily defeat her and earn us our fourth badge. CH 5: With this new badge May gave us some goggles to go into the desert where we got Artichoke the sandshrew who quickly evolved into a Sandslash. We made our way back to Petalburg City to face our father for our 5th gym badge. While clearing the trainers in the gym we made sure to avoid the "1 hit KO" room, for reasons I think we can all understand. Although we had a team of five (Poptart, Greenbean, Beetroot, Artichoke, and Blueberry) I was very concerned. Although most of my dads team is easy to deal with, slaking hits like a truck. The fight started off really well, with Greenbeen taking out his vigaroth and catching Slaking mid swap for some free damage. Slaking was in the red, but managed to land a critical hit facade and killed Greenbeen in a single hit. Artichoke came in to finish the fight to get us our fifth badge but the damage was sadly done, Greenbean was gone. CH 6: With surf now owned we went up north and found a Swablu we named frosting on route 115. We also restored power in New Mawville for Wattson and found Cranberry the voltorb while where. We also caught Colgate the wingul while surfing through Dewford Town. We then made our way east and liberated the weather institute from team aqua, defeated may one more time, and made it to Fortree City. It was around there on route 120 we managed to find an absol. This absol and frosting looked like this could be the turning point with our encounters.... but then poptart crit it and killed it.... so no absol for us. Regardless we evolved frosting into an altaria, and Cranberry into an electrode and defeated Winona. Originally the plan was to use Frosting to sing her team to sleep and use ice beam we taught him from the abandoned ship, but after missing 5 out of 6 sings and taking way too much damage, Frosting came back and Cranberry came in to defeat her team. and with that we got badge number 6. CH 7: With our new badge we continued east and went to Mt. Pyre to defeat team aqua again. Sadly when fighting the last trainer in the tower at Mt. Pyre their wobbuffet was able to mirror coat and kill Blueberry. Wobbuffet truly is the bane of my existence and in came Colgate (now pelliper) as our new water type. With Mt. Pyre cleared we learned of team magmas hideout and went to deal with them there. Once nearing the end of the hideout we fought a magma admin. This was a disaster. Artichoke was able to defeat his Camerupt, but the burn left behind sadly killed Artichoke. After this Frosting was sent in to allow the rest of the team to heal, but was killed by a critical hit ice fang from the admin's mightyena. The rest of the team was able to defeat the admin but we had lost 2 great members and realized we had to do some leveling before we were ready to face Maxie up ahead. Once trained we faced and defeated Maxie but were forced to sacrifice Fritters and Pomegranite, two tentacools we had caught on route 106 and route 122. Once we released Groudon (whoops) we made our way to Lillycove where we defeated May one last time and entered the team aqua hideout. We cleared the hideout and retrieved the masterball, but an admin was able to prevent us from getting to the submarine by killing Colgate. With no idea where the submarine went we made our way to Mossdeep city for our seventh gym battle. As this was a double psychic battle I needed some pokemon to deal with them. We flew back to Petalburg and used a super rod we got in Mossdeep city to catch Lobster Ravioli the corphish who evolved into a crawdaunt. we also caught Chowder the Sharpedo on route 124. While leveling Chowder he was killed in a random trainer battle..... so in came Star Fruit, another sharpedo we caught on route 131, but when fighting the gym's second trainer's kadabra was killed in 1 shock wave..... so in came T-Bone Steak, a duskull we caught at Mt. Pyre. Once evolved into a dusclops, T-Bone Steak and Lobster Ravioli went in to fight Tate & Liza for our seventh gym. Although we had the type advantage this gym was tough. As it was a two vs two fight it meant that one pokemon would most likely get targeted, and with T-Bone Steak and Lobster Ravioli being really slow I had to be really careful. However once into the fight it wasn't looking good. Immediately T-Bone Steak was burned due to a fire gem boosted heat wave, and then his defenses lowered due to a shadow ball. Once T-Bone Steak was swapped out for Poptart they immediately focused on Lobster Ravioli, who was able to buy time using protect. In the end I had to swap pokemon to constantly change the enemy's targeting, but both Cranberry and Beetroot were killed after being double targeted by psychic. Their deaths were not in vain as we sadly claimed our seventh badge. CH 8: With the last gym in sight we stopped at the research station in Mossdeep and together with Steven defeated team magma (with some close calls) With dive now available we found the stolen submarine and faced Archie. Lobster Ravioli was able to set up some swords dances and able to defeat him, but did have some close calls. With Archie defeated, Kyogre awoke (double whoops) and started chaos with Groudon. We made our way to Sootopolis and learned of Rayquaza who we went to go have this mess sorted. Once Rayquaza silenced the fighting all three pokemon left and we were good to fight the final gym. Although we were at the final gyms doors we had to work on replacing our lost members to deal with this gym. In came Lemon Drop the Electrike from route 118. But sadly while training Lemon Drop was killed due to a Breloom landing a critical bullet seed after a long battle. With no more electric type and grass types countered due to ice attacks, we went into Juan's gym with Cruton the Golbat (from the Seafloor Cavern), French Fries the Peliper (from route 107), Lobster Ravioli, Poptart, and T-Bone Steak. This gym ended up being incredibly tough due to my lack of preparation as many pokemon on Juan's team ended up knowing moves I wasnt expecting, mainly close combat which prevented Lobster Ravioli from setting up swords dance and sadly crited Poptart. By the end of the battle we lost Poptart, Cruton, and French Fries. With this last gym badge we were able to make our way to the Hoenn League. CH 9: With the disaster of the last two gyms I decided I wanted a full and prepared team before entering victory road. After thinking long and hard on a team to deal with the elite four, and then taking an even longer time to level them we ended up with this: Smoked Brisket the Torkoal from the Fiery Path, T-Bone Steak the duskull from Mt. Pyre. Kit the Ninjask from route 116 (who split from Kit Kat into Kit the Ninjask and Kat the Shedninja), Fun Dip the Sabely from Sky Pillar, Ice Cube the Walrein from Shoal Cave, and Nachos the Sandslash from route 111. Although Lobster Ravioli was still around and won many battles, his low speed and weaknesses caused me much stress during our fights and ultimately decided not to use him on our final team. With this team we easily defeated Wally one last time and made our way through Victory Road. We did have one close call with Fun Dip after a critical gem boosted earth power left him on one hp. In the end we made it to the Pokemon League. Once everyone was up to lvl 58 we were ready to face the elite four. First up was the dark type member Sidney. Originally Kit was planned to set up a swords dance and single handedly sweep his team. However plans change, and after almost dying multiple times from a single hit, was swapped out. In the end Smoked Brisket, Fun Dip, and Kit were able to defeat him. Phoebe the ghost type member was next, but after T-Bone Steak used willow-o-wisp to burn her dusknior and weaken its attacks, Nachos came in, set up three swords dances, and was able to one hit KO her entire team. Next was Glacia who used ice types. Ice Cube and Smoked Brisket were able to deal with most of her team but then in came her walrein. This fight wasnt tough, but it just ended up taking so long. Walrein's defenses were too high to one or even two hit KO, while also having strong attacks preventing Kit or Nachos from setting up swords dances, not to mention the constant rest/sleep talking she did. In the end T-Bone Steak won by stalling out all of her moves using her pressure ability. Finally it was the dragon type member Drake. Not much to talk about here, Ice Cube + aura beam + nevermelt ice = 1 hit KO his entire team. Finally came Wallace and his water types. Smoked Brisket was constantly swapped in to trigger a drought and weaken any water attacks and Ice Cube had learned toxic who was able to take care of his milotic and wailord. Gyrados came in and T-Bone Steak was able to burn him, which provoked Wallace to swap him out for tentacruel, so in came Nachos. Nachos was able to defeat tentacruel but had a very close call with death. When ludicolo came in out went T-Bone Steak again to burn him and then swap out to Kit. But Kit ended up getting hit by an unexpected ice beam mid swap and killed in one hit. T-Bone steak came in to hex the ludicolo to death. Finally came wiscash who T-Bone Steak easily burned and also hexed to death. And with that we were the champion. CH 10: With the league defeated we went home and were invited to go to the battle frontier. While on the boat we happened to find some leftovers to go with our T-Bone Steak, and eventually made it to our final destination. Once at the battle frontier we got our last encounter: Waffles the pelliper. We also attempted to catch a smeargle in Artisan cave, but after failing to sketch due to T-Bone Steaks slow speed, refused to get caught and struggled himself to death. and with that our Hoenn journey was completed. Although this journey started way better than our kanto adventure, we had terrible luck with encounters and had chaos occur near the end. Overall Hoenn was way more stressful than I would have imagined and will probably take my time before attempting Sinnoh next. Survivors: Smoked Brisket, T-Bone Steak, Ice Cube, Fun Dip, Nachos Reserves (in order caught): Licorice, Twizlers, Strudel, Cotton Candy, Kat, Popcorn, Vegemite, Pastry, Molten Lava Cake, Leek, Rocky Road, Bear Claw, PB and J, Tilapia, Boysenberry, Lasagna, Wine (since the original name grape is not allowed?), Radish, Lobster Ravioli, Pork Belly, Angel Hair, Rib-eye, Tomato, Parsnip, Short rib, Ribs, Tenderloin, Oyster, Rock Cod, Ring Pop, Carmel Corn, Waffles Losses (in order): Greenbean, Blueberry, Frosting, Artichoke, Fritters, Pomegranate, Colgate, Chowder, Star Fruit, Beetroot, Cranberry, Lemon Drop, Poptart, Cruton, French Fries, Kit Thanks for reading. To be continued? (again?)
  8. Hey everyone, Rated here. Before I start my story I want to give a little background about the topic and myself. I have been playing Pokemmo for almost a year now by the username Rattadda. I usually stay pretty quiet but some of you may see me participating in events or trying out my luck in the NU pvp field with my unique team compositions. I have always wanted to do nuzlockes of my own. I like the ideas of being limited on what you can do, using pokemon you may never use before, and having to play really strategically (especially in pokemmo). I had attempted ones in the past but never sat them through till the end, so with the new year and being at home I decided it was finally time to complete my first nuzlocke. I don't know if I will continue my story or if anyone is interested in this kind of adventure but personally I enjoy hearing about other peoples nuzlockes. So even if nuzlockes arn't your thing I hope you enjoy my story so far. The rules I am playing by: - Only the first pokemon from each area can be caught - All pokemon must be named (I went with a theme, can you guess it?) - no GTL/trading with players/trade evolving (trading with npcs is ok) - no gift/static encounters (starters are the exception. static meaning guaranteed encounters, like the sleeping snorlax or cubones mom) - if a pokemon faints, it's 'dead' and can't be used again - starters are based on the rivals true starter (in other words: Gary is known for having a blastoise, so I will take charmander) CH 1: Our story begins on Saturday, January 8th at around 11 am EST. I, Rattaddatoulli, was ready to start my pokemmo adventure. After trying to go on a suicide run into tall grass Professor Oak was kind enough to offer me a pokemon of my own. Gary was there too, and when Oak offered us our pokemon Gary would take squirtle so naturally I took charmander who I named Carrot. Gary of course challenged us to a battle but was no match and brought us our first victory. We then went on an errand for Professor Oak to retrieve his parcel, and were rewarded with the pokedex and some pokeballs. And with that our adventure began. Our first encounter was a ratatta named Cheese Puff. For our next encounter we managed to find a female nidoran, Raspberry, on route 22. Raspberry was the start of the crazy luck we would have with out encounters. After leveling we bumped into Gary for a rematch, again being no match for my and my team. We made our way to Pewter city, catching S'mores the pidgey in Viridian Forest and once Carrot evolved and learned metal claw, we had a pretty easy and uneventful first gym battle (unfortunately having to sacrifice Cheese Ball and Cheese Puff the ratattas from route 1 and route 2 to safely heal Carrot). CH 2: After beating Brock we managed to get our running shoes from our mom and made our way to the next gym in Cerulean. On the way there we stumbled upon another rare encounter: a jigglypuff named Marshmallow. Although our run was going pretty well, we would face our biggest tragedy: the nugget bridge incident. On our way to nugget bridge we bumped into Gary again. Although we again beat him, Gary didn't go down alone, as a critical hit managed to take down S'mores, our first major loss. This was only the start of the tragedy at nugget bridge. While battling through the trainers we encountered a sanshrew who knew magnitude. With no supper effective moves against it and most my team being weak to ground this ended up being tough. Raspberry weakened him down but was forced to swap out after a high roll magnitude. Carrot came in tanking a magnitude to finish him off with a fire fang and that was that. But carrot missed and was killed by another high roll magnitude. Meatball the mankey, Cheddar the sandshrew, and Watermelon the psyduck all came in to try and weaken him, but being under leveled were all killed by high roll magnitudes. finally it all came down to Raspberry, who in the end managed to survive another magnitude on 1 hp, and finish off the sandshrew and win the fight. These losses hit hard. We went from a pretty good rounded team to just Raspberry. But there is always an up with every down, as on route 24 we caught Onion the oddish, and on route 25 Keloggs the abra. Both of these pokemon would end up being a vital part of out team until the end and Keloggs made travel so much easier with teleport. With Onion evolving into a gloom we were able to get our second badge from Misty very easily. CH 3: On the SS Anne we bumped into Gary again for some good old fashioned pay back and got cut from the captain to fight LT Surge for our 3rd badge in Virmilion City. In the time between Misty and LT Surge we got some more encounters, but nothing of interest other than a magicarp, Fish Taco, we caught and dumped in the day care. In our fight against LT Surge I was planning to use the moon stone we got from mt. moon on Raspberry to become a nidoqueen and be immune to electric types. However I forgot to do this and i the fight against LT Surge, Raspberry was able to tank a couple hits, but after getting his magnemite in the red and activating his Petaya berry to raise his special attack, Raspberry was killed. In the heat of revenge Onion came in and was able to sweep LT Surge's team and get us our third badge. CH 4: On our way to Celedon City and our fourth badge we stopped at Lavender town and beat up Gary for old times sake. On our way there we managed to catch Crab Cake the krabby on route 10 (another rare spawn), but he faced a similar fate as Raspberry: activating a horsea's Petaya berry, which raised his special attack and killed Crab Cake with a hydro pump. After mourning the loss of Crab Cake we found a vulpix named Banana (a rare spawn in the day when i caught it) on route 8. We also went back to the day care for Fish Taco and evolved him into a gyrados to easily clear the rocket hideout in Celadon and get the Silph scope. Once Banana evolved, he and Nugget (a pidgey now Pidgeot we caught on route 11) made quick work of Erika and got our fourth gym badge. CH 5: With the Silph scope we went back to Lavender town, made it to the top and received a pokeflute which we used to remove the snorlaxes blocking the paths. We unlocked both Fuschia City and Saffron Ciry, and with our new super rod flew back to any routes or cities which had water for any missing encounters. It was then we got Escargo the slowpoke in Viridian city, and Sashimi the lanturn (guess what? another rare spawn) in Virmillion city as well as other water types from other cities. As we could now fly and didn't need teleport as much Keloggs was traded for a Mr Mime named Cupcake, who was then dumped into the day care and forgotten about. In Saffron City we defeated the dojo master. He was tough, and required Papaya the victorebell (a weepingbell from route 13) and Sushi the seaking (we caught in Fuschia) to sadly perish, but luckily with Onion being a bellossom now and knowing quiver dance, was able to carefully set up and defeat him thanks to their sacrifices. With our team now consisting of Onion, Fish Taco, Nugget, and Sashimi we went to save Silph Co from team rocket. Gary was there again and while fighting his blastoise Fish Taco set up 4 dragon dances (getting low hp in the process) and went for the 1 hit KO. However blastoise survived with a sliver of health and was able to kill Fish Taco, another big loss. We managed to beat Gary and Giovani and received the master ball but had to say goodbye to Fish Taco. Escargo then joined the team and quickly evolved into slowbro. Sabrina gave us our fifth gym badge and another easy win thanks to Onion's quiver dance. CH 6: With our fifth badge we went down to fight Koga. This was another uneventful fight and gave us an easy sixth badge thanks to Escargo's psychic, and Banana's extrasensory. CH 7: Now being able to use surf we made our way to Cinnabar Island and beat Blaine who gave us again a pretty uneventful fight and our seventh badge. However on the way there for BOTH our route 20 and route 19 encounters we stumbled upon a lapras, again a rare spawn. crazy luck CH 8: Once we got our seventh gym badge We were then invited to go visit the Sevii Islands. Once there we had to rescue an island from a biker takeover, however, during the fighting a ursarang using a burn boosted facade was able to 1 hit KO Nugget. Once we cleared these islands and got some more encounters we made our way to the eighth gym, Giovani for one final rematch. All of Giovani's pokemon would hit hard, but again Onion was MVP setting up quiver dances and 1-2 shot his entire team. With this victory we had our final gym badge and was ready to prepare for the pokemon league. CH 9: Of course Gary wanted one final rematch before the league so I happily destroyed his team. Once clearing the way to the pokemon league I had to go and decide on what my team would be for fighting the elite four. Currently I had Onion, Escargo, Sashimi, and Banana, but was missing two. After much though I had decided who my last two would be: Toothpaste the magnemite who I got from the Power Plant and Cupcake the Mr. Mime I traded Keloggs the abra for. When I picked up Cupcake he had gained a whopping 46 levels from the day care, meaning he didn't need much leveling to prepare for the league. Toothpaste on the other hand did need leveling, but luckily by this point I had 51 pokemon in the pokedex, enough to get the exp share from Professor Oak's assistant. After leveling the team and going broke on TM's in Celadon City, I was ready for the league. Lorelei was easily defeated using Banana's discharge and Sashimi's flamethrower, and Bruno was defeated easily using Cupcake's and Escargo's psychic and quiver dance boosted giga drains from Onion. Agatha was going well, until Toothpaste (now magneton) was sent in to deal with her last pokemon: arbok. I knew arbok could learn ground moved and expected something like mud bomb or mud shot, so sent Toothpaste in regardless as the rest of the team was low on hp and he had good special defenses. However I was not ready for arbok to know earthquake, which was able to 1 hit KO toothpaste as he did not have sturdy. Escargo healed and was sent back in to finish the fight with psychic, but we had lost one of our 6 members for the league. Finally it was time for Lance who started with aerodactyl. My plan was to start with Cupcake who was fast, set up a substitute to test the waters and swap if needed. Aerodactyl was unfortunately much faster and with a power herb was able to 1 hit KO Cupcake with sky attack on the first turn. Sashimi came in and killed the Aerodactyl with discharge, and the rest of the team finished off the rest of Lance's team using mainly ice beam. Now all that was left was the champion, Gary, with only a team of four. Incredibly Gary was defeated by playing very carefully without any more losses and with that on January 13th, 6:54 PM EST we were the champion. CH 10: With the league conquered there was one last thing to do before completing our adventure: finishing the Sevii Islands. We made our way there to help Celio complete his machine and collected the gems he was missing. In the process we fought many more trainers and encountered many new pokemon. I also lost Chicken Finger, a fearow we caught on treasure beach, to one of our encounters: a wild gyrados, who landed a crit with take down, taking both of them down in the same turn due to recoil. While in Ruin Valley on six island I encountered a wobbuffet, my biggest fear. Onion came in and paralyzed him and then got her low using giga drain. However the wobbuffet predicted this and using a crit boosted mirror coat, 1 hit KOd Onion. That one hurt. Onion had been with us for so long and pulled so much weight, only to be ended by a crit wobbuffet right at the finish line.... curse you Blue Cheese. After this I though it couldn't get any worse, but when fighting a smeargle with focus sash (one of the last trainers to fight on the islands) endeavor and ice shard was used to kill Banana. I was still upset about Onion at the time and foolishly didnt heal Banana after endeavor, this was the cherry on top. To lose two pokemon who had been on the team for so long to stupid mistakes felt terrible. With revenge on the mind Escargo and Sashimi went into the rocket warehouse, and ended team rockets reign on kanto. With that I also retrieved the last gem for Celio, who completed his machine which connected to Hoenn. And with that there was only one thing left to do: Cerulean cave. We flew back to cerulean city, and entered the cave. We made it to the bottom of the cave but Mew Two was not home (thankfully) and on our way out our repel wore off and we got Pound Cake the rhydon. And with that our Kanto adventure was complete. We flew to Virmilion city to look back at our encounters and losses, and made our way to the harbor the take our shot and hoenn. Survivors: Sashimi, Escargo Reserves in order displayed (not order caught): Whipped Cream, Cheese Cake, Tender, Raisin, Miso, Corndog, Blue Raspberry, Mango, Bubblegum, Fish Stick, Friend Snapper, Poprocks, Horseradish, Swiss Cheese Slushy, Popsicle, Snow Cone, Turnip, Protein Powder, Plantain, Rigatoni, Lemon, Penne, Jelly, Prune, Plum, Tortellini, Beer Batter, Spaghetti, Cream Cheese, Halibut, Pound Cake, Alphabet Soup, Muscles, Crab Melt, Clams, Peanut Butter, Lobster Bisque, Calamari, Clam Chowder, Cornmeal, Cheese Stick, Blue Cheese, Kebab Losses in order: Cheese Puff, Cheese Ball, Marshmallow, S'mores, Carrot, Meatball, Cheddar, Watermelon, Raspberry, Crab Cake, Fish Taco, Papaya, Sushi, Nugget, Toothpaste, Cupcake, Chicken Finger, Onion, Banana Thanks for reading, I had a blast doing this and helped work on my pokemon knowledge.
