  1. I think NU is out of the question at this point, even UU isn't really a thing at this point, I would be hesitant to have 2 UU's at this point in time, since there are some things in UU that are clearly getting enough usage in OU and there are probably some things in OU that could afford to be UU. Tier Council is somewhat hesitant to do any tiering until we get some more functioning moves+abilities that are important to the meta and probably eviolite/focus sash implementation. Last season of SPL, since it was so early after SM release, they only had SM OU tiers, and I think that would be a viable option here. Now some people might be like, I don't want to play OU, I prefer UU, but in reality, if you're playing a made up UU tier that has potentially OU pokemon in it, are you really playing UU? :thonking:
  2. Wow no mention of me and no SM OU for me? I guess I'll have to sit this one out
  3. According to my calculations, with your current speed, you have a 63% of successfully escaping on your first try. To have a 100% to escape, you would need a speed stat of 72. These percentages and values were made assuming PokeMMO uses this formula to calculate escape chances. Edit: To clarify: A=Your Pokemon's speed, B=the wild pokemon's speed, and C is a multiplier for how many attempts you've made at escaping (first attempt = 1, second attempt = 2, and so on). If the F value is greater than 255, then you will always succeed at escaping.
  4. In addition to this, volt switch can be blocked by ground types or volt absorb pokemon, and u-turn can be punished by rough skin/rocky helmet pokemon, and both can be scouted by protect, which can be advantageous in certain scenarios.
  5. Not really that great, unless you want to be able to revenge kill other excadrills in sand (which would mean you would also have to be sand rush and not mold breaker). Excadrill's utility comes from being able to swords dance and that set doesn't really accomplish it. Locking yourself into rapid spin is generally a bad idea
  6. Lmao " Mazar would also be punished under regular circumstances, but the TD team does not condone the beating of dead horses."
  7. I feel like I had a decent understanding of what the IRS was when I was like 11. Watching all those tv shows seemed to have paid off.
  8. gotta keep a textpad/pastebin of all the importables. I made that mistake before
  9. This is the only reason why I actually clicked on this thread
  10. Depends what the people want. People might prefer having this instead of PSL in the upcoming future. I'm also unsure of the timeline of the update at all. I think I'm allowed to disclose that there will be a UU and NU tier on launch of the update (well you/riga know this obviously, but not the rest of people) so in theory, we could have PSL as soon as the update hits (or at least in a few weeks, instead of waiting months for usage based tier formation), but the tiers will most likely be volatile and there will be a lot of changes that would probably happen to tiers, so there are a few options for a competitive league. 1. Wait until tiers stabilize. This is the "safest" option but this also takes a while and no one wants to wait that long. 2. Wade through the shit of the update and the tiers, and have OU, UU, and NU, along with a showdown tier or two+Doubles, and force players to adapt and grind new comps as tier changes happen. 3. Limit the amount of competitive preparation players need by only having OU as a tier+showdown tiers to pad out the rest of the slots. This would be similar to what SPL did this season, as gen 7 hit pretty much right before SPL was starting, so it was better to have an extra OU tier+ubers, instead of waiting for UU/RU to fully form. Obviously relying on showdown tiers to fill up the tier slots is not ideal as it seems every season has proven that the players willing to be dedicated to a showdown tier is almost always a single digit number.
  11. And these fools thought they would make good PSL hosts
  12. One final award that I forgot about and took a while to get votes from the managers. Worst Player of PSL. The prize for this award was a shiny beedrill and the existence of this award was not known until after the regular season, just so there were no players throwing to get a few more losses if their matches didn't matter. I handpicked the not-finest players of PSL this season, and had two candidates for the managers to vote on. Those two people were Tranzmaster and BlueBreath. Tranzmaster had an impressive 0-5 record in OU this season, eeking out one more loss than his fellow team mate, Kevola. BlueBreath had a slightly better record, at 1-5, but he also came as the top draft pick for the Buzzwoles, which puts higher expectations than if it was some random who went for 2-10k credits. I gave the managers the option to vote for either of these individuals, and in a 5-2 vote, they decided BlueBreath shall be crowned worst player of PSL8. (Keith died after PSL ended again, so I didn't get a vote from him). Congratulations to @xXBlu3BreathXx on "winning" this award.
  13. >playing this game when update hits
  14. Sluaghmmo was a total random afaik so if you took bets with him and didn't middleman, you done fucked up
  15. I love how many scenes are cut off right before he does something horrible
  16. Rhydon more banworthy than charizard obv. JJ ultra bias supreme. Not banning rhydon after its been dominating UU for a month, gotta preserve that "meta"
  17. Smeargle definitely should have won, quite innovative, unlike camerupt which has been around since mid 2015 (iirc some people used it in OU some then to check gengar, while also beating electric types). VVVV trashbois are bad at voting
  18. When did I ever do that lmao? I don't mind if people want to criticize some of the actions I take, but don't try to make up blatant lies that never happened. I had the opportunity I suppose, but I don't know why I would ever try to do it, as a) I don't care about the money and b) if anything, managers would probably vote for enchanteur if I tried to persuade them because that's a real scum move. As for the dnites, I think it is weird to quantify something like that, as the first pick is obviously going to have a bigger role in the team than other players (typically anyways). Most of the draft pick players played a big role in getting wins or helping other team mates get wins.
  19. It's what everyone has been waiting for, PSL 8 Awards, which have totally not been spoiled already. The managers voted on best players for each tier, as well as a breakout player (defined as a player who performed "exceptionally" and this was their first season participating), and the best overall player (defined as a player who performed exceptionally in multiple tiers). The best player for an individual tier will receive 500k and the breakout player along with the best overall player will receive 1mil. Managers were not allowed to vote on players from their own team, thus the max votes a player can have is 7. Without further ado, the best players of PSL 8. Best OU Player: Enchanteur - a unanimous 7-0 vote from the managers as he went undefeated for another season. Best UU Player: ZDFire - a close 5-3 vote, narrowly beating out Axoa as the best UU player of this season. Going 6-1 in UU was the best UU record out of all the UU players this season, unfortunately we did not get to see him in playoffs. Well deserved. Best NU Player: SejuaniSupport - another 7-0 unanimous vote from the managers. He outperformed the rest of the NU players this season and without a doubt deserves it. Best Doubles Player: GBWEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The true lord of doubles, beating out Strider and JIce who both received 2 votes, while gbwead gathered 4 of the manager's votes. Although gbwead's reign of terror in doubles was short, he made sure to look cool while doing it. Best DPP Player: XPLOZ - Although the DPP competition was "tough" this season, XPLOZ still pulled out with the best record in the regular season, along with 6 of the 7 possible votes for him. Best SM OU Player: Raptori - some may argue that SM OU was weak this season, but maybe Raptori was just making it look easy, only losing to myself and Telf in the regular season. Raptori received 6 of the 7 possible votes, with Telf picking up the last 2 votes with his fairly surprising performance this season. Breakout Player of PSL 8: moisessss - it wouldn't be a good award ceremony without some controversy over one of the awards. After some confused voting, the first round of voting resulted in a tie between moisessss and Cogeid for the breakout player of this season. A tie break vote occurred (managers were allowed to vote for their own player in this if they pleased) and moisessss won with a 5-3 vote. Best Overall Player of PSL 8: the coolest guy around town, your favorite zoo animal... TheFirelion.. wait no. It's me, BurntZebra. This was another close vote that required a tie break vote (3 votes for enchanteur and myself in the preliminary vote. In the tiebreak vote, the vote went 6-2 or 7-1 (I believe it was 6-2, but I just checked again and it was 7-1). I will be mailing the winnings out shortly. Congratulations to all those who have won awards.
  20. Life is a bit busy currently. Will post congratulations+award thread+send out the cash money once I get off work today (12-14 hours from now)
  21. PSL Activity Announcement: As Mlhawk vs Kanzo will not get played by the deadline, I have decided to grant them an extension to Saturday 11:59 PM EDT, since no one wants the finals to be decided by one of my glorious activity calls.
  22. Rock slide is probably the best. It gets poison jab or x scissor, poison jab is only really useful for tapu bulu, which generally doesn't come in vs excadrill anyways as its slower than offensive sets and gets hit hard by iron head. Rock tomb is an option I suppose as it can probably outspeed some interesting stuff at -1 speed and the chip damage probably helps it get some kos on threats as well.
  23. I haven't tried it in gen 7 yet, but back in gen 6, there was usually the split decision Of running vest with attack evs (since you're forced to only running attacking moves) or go with a max sp def leftovers set that gets to utilize toxic/stealth rock for pesky sableye teams. I'm not sure if it's worth running max sp def vest now or not, as excadrill mostly relies on its typing to check a lot of threats. I guess vest would be most useful for gengar/lele (assuming it can tank a stab attack+focus blast)
