  1. Bring a lead with stealth rock and sturdy and 5 swipers. I used excadrill starmie raichu lucario and grachomp (with lvl 30 onix as stealth rock lead). You might start each battle with slight disadvantage but if your swipers are well built then it can be a cakewalk. i went all e4's in a row (except kanto) with 1 item use and 1 defeat (champ grachomp was faster).

if you are set against a tank sword dance is your bff

First I'm having a issue with my boxes, when I want to move a pokemon 1st I have to put it 1st on my team and them move it to the spot I want and also when I move a pokemon from my team to the box if its not the last pokemon on my team it just takes a random one and moves it over, does anyone else have this problem?

On my phone almost every time i try to switch pokes on party or the computer the game revert the switch immediately after. I also experienced what you described. I use one plus 6.

He is asking if he tricks the balloon and then it pops while his mon is holding it.
I assume once it pops, no matter who is holding it, it has been consumed and you will not get the item. The way to know for sure would be to test it.

If the game keeps track after each item individually you are probably right but if the goal is just to avoid something that they might consider not that important this mechanic seems much too complex codewise and they might as well just revert to the state before trick is used.

The information here is outdated as the shard tutors were replaced by 4 regional tutors in the poke centers and the prices were altered.

You need the right items in addition and it is much more expensive now.

You can try to get tutor moves and tm via breeding with the right male. If you use field pokes then smeargle is your best friend

I accidentally quoted an old post. Can i remove the quote?

  5. update:

i have just got past all e4's. the team i used made it feel like a breezer.

sharing my team to help any others that might read this:

    lead:

onix with sturdy and stealth rock.

this is a sacrifice poke to get past sashes. can be low lvl.

i kept screech in case onix is faster than the opponent. might not be neccesary

    excadrill

high attack and speed iv and max ev on both (i got speed to 115 but maxing is probably better)

item: leftovers (might not be necessary)

    sword dance

    earthquake

    rock slide

rapid spin - used to finish off opponents to pop the speed buff.

    starmie with natural cure

high sp.attack and speed iv and max ev on both

item: leftovers (probably unnecessary but it might get you just past 1/2 hp mark on crucial moments)

    ice beam

    psychic

    surf

    thunderbolt

surprisingly it consistently survived earthquakes with more than 1/2 hp. defense iv was 3 and ev was 0.

    garchomp

high attack and speed iv. max ev on both.

    dragon claw

    crunch

    raichu

high speed and sp.attack iv. max ev on both (i got speed to 121 but maxing is probably better)

    surf

    thunderbolt

signal beam - expensive but important counter

    lucario

i had steadfast but inner focus is better as intimidate is annoying

this is the same lucario from the subject

i maxed hp and speed iv and had 30 attack. probably an overkill. you might do fine with 20+ hp max ev on speed and attack

close combat (used move re-learner to learn early)

    sword dance

extremespeed (I got it for sinnoh but cant hurt earlier)

    meteor mash

sword dance is very rewarding but risky.

if you are set against a tank with low offense or weak moves use it otherwise it is probably best to attack.

i only used an item once. it was a revive and it was just to get the killing blow on the hoenn champion.

unova and hoenn was first try

sinnoh was 2nd try as the champion's grachomp was faster than mine due to being under lvl'ed on the first attempt.

if it is weaken enough starmie's ice beam might kill it.

i couldn't test this on kanto as i already got past it long time ago

Let's say you have beaten the elite 4 in Unova, earned 4 badges in Kanto, and 0 badges in Hoenn and Sinnoh. Which cap do you apply? Unova has an open cap while Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh do not. Applying Kanto's cap would allow you to take your Kanto team at their current level to Hoenn or Sinnoh and blaze through the first 4 gyms.

It wont be a problem if both caps would apply on top of each other, essentially limiting to the lower of the selected region and the current one.

And why not toggle? A setting with region selection to limit all others in the options menu

    nothing needs to scale.

  7. I am not sure if this has been asked before but an option to prevent overleveling in other regions would be very helpful. I just got 8 badges on unova shinnoh and hoenn and realized i cant play on shinnoh and hoenn without sacrificing pokes for unova.

The pre e4 stage is the most annoying an the longest of all other parts of the game in my experience.

If this might be abused on other situations it can be restricted to the pre e4 caps, being pre-epilogue for the other regions or other limitations like no Ev gain.

  8. I am trying to make an e4 strategy and maybe a value estimation for my lucario as is.

Please dont make a breeding shop out of this thread.

Anyway a quick look at the breeders threads on the market puts prefect natured 5x31 much higher than 500k. if you are going to sell for 500k you are going to break the market.

  9. Watch the level cap. if you are not carful and use pokes on different regions you might mess up the lvl cap and lose the poke until the right milestone has achieved. For instance the pre e4 cap of unova is 56. if you got past it on hoenn you wont be able to use those pokes on unova until post e4 unova.

if your goal is to reuse the same team for all e4's then the right order is unova > hoen > sinnoh > kanto.

  10. does taking a hit as lucario for a sword dance make viable e4 strategy?

as i stated before I already got 31 hp and speed iv on it alongside 30 attack.

If so, should i put any ev on hp or dump it all on attack and speed?

And can dual chop get past the scarf users and sturdy the e4 use?

  11. I am done with kanto, did that before any other region was available. much have changed since.

the 30 wasn't planned but it is probably good enough for the e4.

should i go for a physical, special or a balanced lucario?

i currently have raichu and starmie for special and excadrill for physical

i am also considering adding a salamenece

  12. hello,

    I am a returning player.

I am closing in on the e4's of hoenn, sinnho and unova and decided to train a lucario (already have a raichu, starmie and excadrill on the team with reasonable IV).

I thought that I might as well make a good half-breed to max it or sell on the market later,

managed to breed a female, Hasty, 31/30/10/31/21/31 riolu and looking for a value estimation and advice for the e4 (lucario build, party choices, ...)

    thanks in advance
