  1. I like World Cup as an idea more because we already have team tournaments to decide the best in-game team of the game. The only issue is that as far as I'm perceiving most players in this community, they would rather play with their in-game teammates than with their countrymen/countrywomen. Generally the players who want World Cup often already share a team with people in their country, so for them it's not really an issue either way. So I think "PSL Teams" (a name which I don't like btw because for me PSL implies auctioning of players etc.) is better for this community because people seem far more motivated about their own in-game team than representing their country/region.

  3. This is definitely true, however I somehow can't seem to understand why UU is getting dumpstered while we have to wait for things to go OU by usage. Can't we make Pokemon OU that are going to go OU by usage with almost full certainty? And if in some rare instance we are wrong, then I guess we can let those Pokemon to be tested if they fall below the OU usage. But it feels weird precedent what we're having that before things are going to OU (which depends on the time of release can take multiple months), they are slugged through UU testing while everyone who has played Pokemon for more than 12 ladder games realize there is no way in the universe these Pokemon aren't getting OU usage. Why is UU being treated this horribly?
  4. I think Serp should be banned from UU immediately. Sure, it has some technical counters like Crobat and Mandibuzz but it would centralize an already messed up metagame to a ridiculous extent. Contrary Serp has been OU in Gen 6 and Gen 7, metas with incredibly high power level and it was always limited to its full potential by Chansey/Blissey, yet still was incredibly strong. I think Serp needs those special blob in the tiers to not run over things with minimal effort, or have people dedicate their full teams to make sure this thing just doesn't run them over. I'd argue it's easily Offensive Ubers in UU (sweeps a significant portion of the metagame with little to no effort) but even if that definition was stretched to the max, there is no way you could argue this thing wouldn't be at least unhealthy for teambuilding.
  5. Contrary Serperior is going to be quite nutty in Doubles
  6. Yeah well Contrary Serp has been Smogon OU since it was released and the power levels there are miles above what we have here so it's almost self-evident it'll be insanely strong
  7. wow you're mean, not gonna send a christmas card this year
  8. Took me 5954 hours for my first OT shiny. give me sympathy pls
  9. Zymogen already said everything relevant there is needed to be said about Machamp, it is quite literally the copy of Conkeldurr with 10 less usable stats - a difference so minimal that people can only tell the difference because of the Pokemon sprite in the screen. There is no reason to keep this thing in UU, it absolutely shreds down any defensive play with its sheer power and coverage and what is even more alarming is the fact that it can use Mach Punch to clean many of the frail offensive Pokemon. Let's think for a second, Conkeldurr was on the verge of being considered too strong for OU, a tier which contains the largest amount of options to keep Conkeldurr in check and has actual hard counters like Cofagrigus. So it's not really "if" Machamp gets banned from UU but "when" and no Hidden Ability change on the metagame will fix anything. Keep in mind that every good Conkeldurr counter will always become OU by usage just for being a Conkeldurr counter. And by doing so, that would always leave a lack of Machamp counters in the lower tiers. So there is no other sensible option but to ban Machamp to BL and unfortunately keep it there for good, making it suffer an extremely lonely existence forever.
  10. I decided I'll focus only on Hitmontop now, not Rotom.
  11. Some thoughts from me as well, mostly from Doubles perspective: - "Competitive" only exists XY onwards so I doubt we will get Competitive Milotic - Gyarados will also get a noticable buff in Doubles. I am still unsure if Intimidate or Moxie is the better ability (depends of your team I suppose) but if you go full on the set up, Moxie can be great. But beyond that, Raichu's Lightningrod might arguably be the biggest thing buffing Gyarados. - Regen might slightly buff bulky variants of Reuniclus, Slowking and Slowbro even in Doubles - Nidoking becomes threatening in Doubles as well. Sheer Force Nidoking has proven itself quite of a strong Pokemon with both Life Orb and Choice Scarf in VGC 2018 metagame and looking at MMO meta, it basically heavily pressurizes everything below base 80 speed. - I agree with above comment that Serperior would also become very powerful in Doubles - Adaptability Crawdaunt becomes viable especially in Singles but I'd say it has its niche in Doubles too. It jumped to Gen 6 UU when it got Adaptability which makes me think it could have potential to gain OU usage. - Sableye might have a niche at Doubles - I am also hopeful of Empoleon becoming a good pick in Doubles. It has a great defensive typing already, basically shutting down 4/6 out of Standard rain team and heavily countering things like Crobat, Salamence or Hydreigon. Accidental Defiant boost can make Empoleon quite of a threat on the field and Roost also gives it very annoying longevity, I mean Milotic isn't awful in Doubles and it would become just the better version of it. - Scrafty gets Intimidate which makes it in some cases a potential competitor for Hitmontop slot in Doubles - I really doubt they will ever release Speed Boost Blaziken due to being easily Uber, also Shadow Tag Gothitelle while nerfed by the 3 turn rule might be deemed a bit unnecessary - Oh my lord if we ever would get Moody Smeargle Doubles would become hilarious (no seriously please don't do it, I'm begging you)
  12. Yes. I am valuing a Shiny Top with bad IVs at around 130 mil, the better the IVs the more I value it.
  13. Okay, a more serious post for a change. A large part of leading a team correctly is having the right kind of people around you. In other words, what is your team for? Lots of teams in my opinion struggle to take off because they lack a vision or identity. And the identity has to be believable and realistic. If a person with no or very little competitive background is trying to make the best competitive team in PokeMMO, that is not a very believable goal unless that person already managed to get in bunch of known players. Competitive players want to be around other competitive players and they only bother joining when they feel like the team has enough players with a similar level of understanding of the game. What I'm getting at is that some competitive teams fail to take off because they aren't believable. So on the flipside, I think there's great value in building a team that isn't based on "being the best comp team in the game" but rather having a chill and relaxed atmospheare. I think the biggest reason these kinds of team fail is the lack of proper advertising of it. Most of PokeMMO players are casual players, so advertising a team that focuses on casual play will certainly be in demand. And many players want to join a team that explicitly has a more laidback-vibe to it, even some competitive players. So in my opinion it is important to establish a clear theme and aim for the team. It doesn't mean that comp. teams can't do casual events and vice versa (there's only a limited amount of things to do in MMO really), but in my opinion picking a theme will be important to attract the people with the right kind of mindset for your team. To me, this is by far the most important and hardest hurdle to having a successful team - filling your team with similar people. What comes to leadership, it's not really that good leadership attracts players but bad leadership can push away players. In other words, I really think you really need to fuck up badly as a leader of a team to be the reason a team failed. There's some traits that I think are damaging to the team as a leader: - Complete lack of responsibility. The leader must speak up during an important decision, whatever it is. Agreeing with the rest of the team is completely fine, taking leadership does NOT mean you always push your own will at everything. The worst thing you can really do is just say "idk' or "I dont care" about everything. - Being too self-centered. Sometimes I feel like the leader of a team wants to be the spotlight of the team a bit too often and relates everything going on in the team to themselves. The team are the people in it, not the leader. - Thinking people joined the team because of you. This is extremely damaging. While having a reputation you aren't a complete asshat certainly is useful, no one joins a team solely because of the leader unless that person to join happened to be a close friend. This also goes to the "self-centeredness" but being humble enough to understand some other members may have attracted others to your team is important. (And the general theme of your team) - Not listening your team members. This is pretty self-evident but I've seen teams where the leader iron fisted everything. Surprisingly, none of them exist anymore. So that's about it really, that's my perspective as someone who has lead/co-lead MMO teams for a good while now. A lot of it is very basic but imo leading is mostly just doing basic stuff consistently.
  14. The title. Primarily looking for Shiny Hitmontop or any Hitmon/Tyrogue. Willing to drop everything below to one, especially if good IVd. Here's everything I'm willing to pay for one. Currently items worth 224 mil according to GTL prices but I'm willing to consider 10-15% value discount from the fact that selling everything could be a chore. IGN OrangeManiac Edit: The better the IVs the more I'm willing to pay. Won't pay this all for badly IVd Hitmon
  15. Your approach to this sounds unnecessarily dramatic. I don't want this for the simple reason that if I ever have to play someone in Team Tournament that I have blocked, I don't want to be oblivious to the fact my opponent is standing in front of me while I don't see anyone in my screen.
  16. "Sweepers with low defenses don't need high defensive IVs" is one of the most common misconceptions in PokeMMO and it's just straight up wrong. Every Pokemon in the game besides Shedinja benefits from good defensive bulk. Even for glass cannons, there are always some attack you can switch in for and the defensive IV defines whether you live or die from that switch in. The glass cannon surviving an attack can be the difference between a sweep or just straight up dying. It is understandable not everyone has the necessary resources to make everything perfect and that's fine. And it's okay to make small sacrifices somewhere if it saves a lot in your budget. But every Pokemon will always benefit from maximized IVs at everything it uses and going for maximum IVs should always be the goal (before your in-game wallet tells you otherwise).
  17. IGN: OrangeManiac Preferred Tiers: LC Dubs (I can play others too if needed) Competitive accolades: nothing really Discord contact: OrangeManiac#3028 Fluff: Based on the currently planned event calendar I'll be traveling at least two of the weeks in this event so don't rely on me to play every week Preferred Potential Manager: Anyone is fine but no one else is Cali except Cali. Working together with Forfi has always worked well too, especially when he's drunk.
