  1. I believe that team preview should be an option along with changeable leads. With the changes in the meta a lot of threats can pose different types of threat to a team. Cb heracross can be threatened by differnt things than swift band one. Also threats that were already scary are even scarier such as gyaradose. You can keep gyara in your back pocket until the opponent's counter/check is gone and bring it out, which is a fine strategy sure but with team preview you can run much more shakey counters to things like gyara, such as ludicolo, and know to keep it healthy meaning there are less restrictions on team building

The difference is kanga had never been test banned from UU, whereas we've done this same song and dance with snorlax several times (albeit without some key new items that could make chansey a lot more exploitable)

Also, if the argument is that lax fits support uber, it wouldn't warrant a test ban as what the metagame looks like without snorlax has no bearing on how well it supports its teammates.

Personally I don't think lax fits uber support (or any of the uber categories), but here's what I do think - lax is one of those Pokémon that comes dangerously close to meeting all three uber criteria. That right there is a huge red flag for unhealthiness, and I do think that usage indicates it may be overcentralizing. I'm in favor of a test ban because I think the meta without snorlax will take a significant amount of pressure off teambuilding, freeing up several team slots for more creative builds and different ways to utilize special attackers. And if we test ban it for a month and things look essentially the same, then I think it's time to come to terms with the fact that Lax is just a necessary evil in our OU meta.

I 100% agree with this. I would for 2 months bc you know... mmo. But we have already had laxless meta b4 so ppl have pokes for it already assuming a lot of the old comp players stuck around so a month might be good. Its certainly better than nothing.

    Okay.

What I said is based on experience via 30+ seperate battles against this person.

It's not a personal attack its just truth

It becomes an attack when you assumed that he is only defending lax because he uses it in every match and cant live without it. Had you simply said he uses lax in every match then it would have just been truth, but still rather irrelevant to the conversation.

  4. Honestly if it wasnt for the bslam para lax wouldnt be that bad to deal with. If it wasnt for how hard he hits he also wouldnt be that hard to deal with. If it wasnt for his bulk he wouldnt be that hard to deal with. If it wasnt for his access to curse he wouldnt be that hard to deal with. You take any of these things away and lax isnt broken. But think about it for a second, what are snorlaxes main weaknesses? He is physically squishy and he has a low speed. But he can negate his speed problem with parahax. He can negate the fact that parahax is only 30% with his ability to switch in on most any non-physical pokemon pretty much guaranteeing a para on something. And he can negate his physical squishyness with curse. What other pokemon do you know has the ability to negate all of its weaknesses the way lax does? To put the icing on the cake, he easily rests off any status due to his high health allowing him to switch into anything that doesnt hit like a cannon and he cant even be poisoned to help wear him down.

  5. p2 and gard can both switch in on and kill jolt easily. Venue makes pretty light work of him alos (although idk if he has lifeball how he does). Espy and zam are usually pretty well taken care of by umbreon if no signal beam or metagross if no hidden power. They are also pursuit trapped. All of them can becked by a scarf physical attacker. Miltank and arcanine can somewhat come in on these things and threaten them too. Thats with out even mentioning chansey.

Sorry man, I can see that you're eager to contribute here but your arguments and reasoning for wanting snorlax banned don't really match with how things work. I'd suggest giving this a read before continuing to make posts here on comp alley:

Specifically, the focus of this discussion is whether Snorlax is too strong for this particular OU metagame. Waxing poetic about the original intentions of gamefreak when they hatched this fat monster is all in good fun, but it has absolutely no bearing on our unique metagame and how snorlax does, or doesnt, fit into it. Consider for example the legendary birds, like Articuno and Moltres, in the gen 4 metagame. While their base stats are incredible, they both suffer from a crippling weakness to Stealth Rock (50% damage upon switching in). This is an example of how the particulars of a unique metagame can dictate a pokemon's effectiveness in the tier, and how comparing a pokemon's situation in another metagame can often be irrelevant

Likewise, you can talk about base stats and abilities all you want, but as long as theyre in a vacuum they are pointless - there are many pokemon with high base stats that aren't nearly as good in practice as they may appear on paper, and vice versa. I'd suggest including some calculations ( http://pokemonshowdown.com/damagecalc/ ) with your argument to back up your claims, they are usually pretty convincing.

Yo i would like to take a second to applaud Gunthug for this post. It is much more professional than the posts new people to tiering use to see from the TC.

As for snorlax, i had always thought that the meta where chansey ruled the scene was much more healthy than snorlax. Even if chanseys usage was just as high, or maybe even higher, team building didnt suffer as much imo. Where with snorlax, if you were going to build a team that can deal with everything lax can throw at you you would dedicate half your team to just dealing with lax.

Ya'll just haters. The Young Bear is #1.

Thank you JJ. She offered her men for the battle of the bastards, she was there with snow when meeting ramsey before the battle and just stared at him with the "I will fucking kill you myself" face, she pretty much anointed snow the king of the north. What other 12 year old do you know that has the power to get entire houses to follow her lead with just a speech?
