  1. Heey I also remember you back when I was streaming on YouTube! Thanks for tuning in ;) Twitch generally gives more pleasant experience for streaming so I took the leap and moved there. Have a great weekend man!
  2. I noticed that some have requested to see my current state of my team, but with the limitations of this forum's upload I will do so in my channel, there if you scroll down you can see my current state of Smeargles, as well as the rules https://www.twitch.tv/leeplayswithfriends/about
  3. Hey guys, sorry was not having the time to update. This week has been pretty rough IRL, so I pour all my spare time on PokeMMO. Here is some juicy, major update. Picking up from the last battle against the rich, smug trainer with his Zigzagoon, we continued our journey from Oldale Town. Now I was being more careful, knowing that in this run my shots are limited thus I had to make everything count. With that new mindset me and Zaiex could win easily against the rich boy. I was kind of disappointed, but that was not for long. Turns out the road ahead was chock full of trainers, ready to prey on my faithful, peace loving Smeargles. One by one, I defeated the trainers, but just like that, each trainer I fought came with a sacrifice; Seeger, Water~, and finally the team's powerhouse, Zaiex. After a gruesome path we finally managed to arrive at Rustboro, making my way straight to the Pokemon Center to save my helpless beagles. Luckily, our team made it somehow, against all odds. But we'd arrived at Rustboro, and that meant we need to fight our biggest enemy yet; Roxanne. I kne we didn't stand a chance against her at our current condition, but I just need to spy on her team and strategy. So there I went to the gym. I was greeted by Roxanne herself, saying that she's the first gym leader in this Hoenn region. Then as soon as we're done talking, we began fighting. Boy I was in for a surprise. In short, my team was crushed as if she was playing chess with a clueless 5 year old. A bloody chess. Her rocky Pokemon; Geodude, Aron, and Nosepass; all knew Rock Smash and Rock Tomb, so she proceeded to make a quick work of me. Pascal, Seeger, and the rest can't stand against the raw power that was Roxanne. I couldn't even make a dent on her Pokemon. And finally Zaiex fell unconscious, thus sending me running to the Pokemon center once more.. From there I was feeling defeated. Bad thoughts appeared in my mind. But thanks to my friends, I still had some hope, and fighting spirit. So I began my training and walked east. Long story short, we managed to get all of our bipedal dogs to level 11, from which we learned another set of Sketch: Water~ and PETA learned Absorb, Zaiex learned Yawn, Pascal and Seeger learned Water Gun I was thinking back in my mind that for Aron we needed some sort of miracle, so for the final preparation I was about to Sketch Magnitude for my Da Vinchi from Roxanne herself. I believe she had one on her Geodude, so there I went to the gym once more. I put Seeger up front, thinking that I might need to bait her moves somehow. But she sensed my intention, and instead came to me full force with her Nosepass. I won't get this easily. Seeger shot a jet of water from its mouth, but that bounced off Nosepass' body like it was nothing. They proceed to exchange blows until Seeger fell unconscious, Nosepass seemingly still good to fight another round or two. With no sign of her going to use Geodude, I think this attempt was botched, and I might as well try my best. Next up was Zaiex. He's stronger than the rest of them and had Yawn, so we might be able to put Nosepass to sleep. So we did use Yawn, and Nosepass punched Zaiex real good with a rock smash. Surprisingly, Zaiex stood strong! Zaiex didn't have any good moves to deal with rock types so I ordered him to use Tackle, which is unsurprisingly didn't even have any effect on Nosepass. Nosepass used Rock Tomb on Zaiex and managed to bring it down to half health. Right after that, Nosepass finally fell asleep. Knowing that the battle was in a stalemate, we both switched Pokemon. She sent out her Geodude and I sent out Water~. I was ordering him to use absorb when I realized that she's trying to choke my game. She made a double switch to Aron, thus making my absorb useless. It only did about 1/10 of its health. I knew I can't stay much longer in the battle, so I also did a switch, sadly I needed to sacrifice Zaiex so later I could send out either Pascal or Seeger. Aron sent rocks crashing down on my Zaiex, dealing a good damage and hampering my movement. Luckily Zaiex was nimble, so right before Aron dealt the finishing blow he let out a parting gift and Yawned on Aron. Aron managed to use headbutt on Zaiex, making him fell unconscious. From there on suddenly I saw Roxanne flailing. I could see a winning opportunity here, I said to myself. And somehow, lady luck was on my side! Those two Pokemon was never waking up again until the rest of the battle, where Pascal and Seeger used water gun in tandem to dispatch them away from the fight. Her last Pokemon was Geodude so I knew already that we will win this fight. I used all my best move and I don't even need to copy magnitude anymore! And just like that, I won! You can say this win was a lucky streak, which I won't argue, but this win was really unexpected because I came to her not with the right mindset, and the journey thus far had been rough on me and my team. So she handed me the Badge, and told us to go to the next gym; the fighting gym! -To Be Continued- Good job PETA, for once you make me proud.
  4. Can't disagree with this to be honest, haha. But that's why I wanted to do this run in the first place, and I'll still try it until the end.
  5. Thanks man, I really need all the luck in the world for this run.
  6. Hey man, appreciate the opinion. For HMs obviously we're going to use slaves, and for other obstacles we will get by. Baby steps! But really, thanks for sharing, this makes me think about double battles. Eventhough it's hard, in my opinion it's still doable :D
  7. Wow, thank you guys for all the input! I mean yeah to be honest this run is horrible to do, I'd advise others not to do this and just see how it goes. With that being said, let's do some update, shall we? So I have created all 6 Smeargles that I need for this run, and I have leveled them up to level 5. With that and some help from friends, I managed to start my journey on Hoenn region with my cute little Smeargles. For reference, here's their stats at level 5 so you can have some idea how bad it is (Image 1) But what's a Smearlocke if we're not going to name them all right? So please say hi to the team: Seeger, Pascal, Water~, PETA, Zaiex, and Da Vinchi We proceed to fight our first battle with May and turned out that we're doing pretty okay for Smeargle standards. Zaiex is the strongest of them all, and I managed to give it Tackle. Out of curiosity I also let Pascal learn Sand-Attack from Zigzagoon because why not? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Along the way PETA also learned Thief from some random trainer's Pokemon. What a coincidence. Somehow Seeger also decided to learn Growl, so from now on it can only yap cutely until it got to level 11 Then we walked our way through Petalburg Woods, and with the help of Zaiex we can pretty much made our way through easily. I think the fact that this cute beagle has Technician as its ability helps a lot. Here's the memento of our journey (Image 2) But the journey was no joke, Zaiex has taken some beating and even PETA got fainted from all that Thieving. As we walked outside the forest, the worst thing happened. We got distracted and a trainer came to stop us right on our tracks. He demanded battle. He demanded blood. All this happened while my Smeargles were in a bad shape, and the others are just not fit for fight yet. Zaiex tried his best but ultimately perished. It was all my fault.. (Image 3) Defeated, we all ran back to Nurse Joy so we can get patched up and rest for now. Checking on my team, turned out they all have learned new moves: Da Vinchi had learned Shock Wave, and Water~ had learned Covet from that disastrous encounter. Looking at them I could see that they are tired and wants some rest for time being, so I let them sleep until the next day.. Hopefully we're able to do more action! That's it for the update guys, see ya tomorrow!
  8. Oh thank you for the suggestion! I think I might try Hoenn to soften up the difficulty slope a bit. As for moves, your suggested moves are amazing! The hard part is to actually get the moves, because one of the rules I'm gonna use is I will be only getting moves from wild Pokemon/NPCs. But that being said, I might want to reassess the viability of my rules after 4th Gym. I will keep you guys updated!
  9. So today is a nice day, I have some time to prepare my 6 Smeargle run by catching some Smeargle and breed them pretty much randomly so I get 6 lv1 Smeargle pups. I decided that the best place to catch Smeargle is from Artisan Cave located in Hoenn. But just when I was going there from Battle Frontier, I just realized that I don't have a proper Pokemon catcher (Level 100 Parasect with Spore and False Swipe or something similar), so I used my level 30 Venomoth which knows Sleep Powder and went there. It was atrocious. I didn't remember that catching Pokemon in this game could be so hard. On average to catch a Smeargle I need to waste 10 balls and 10-15 minutes. Don't ask me why, It just happened so laugh at me I guess. And when I catch one, this is what I got (Image 1, nice total IV there) After some thinking I decided that catching would take a long time, so I thought to myself, why don't I just buy from GTL? So I did. And boy they have lots of Smeargles laying around. But I was broke, like really broke, so I did some trainer rebattles on Sevii Island. It's not much, but hey it's an honest work! (Image 2, that's how much I get roughly from one battle) Doing trainer rebattles sure bring back memories, it almost felt nostalgic and at the same time I couldn't help but notice that lots of things have changed from before. But it makes me thrilled to think about the upcoming challenge, just to see how far can I go with this silly run. (Image 3, I felt bad for them, but nothing personal) I haven't got all my Smeargles yet because I can't play anymore for today, but tomorrow I will finish the Smeargle 'hunt' and hopefully start the journey soon!
  10. Ok guys, thanks for the input, now I can start the first step which is to get me some Smeargle pups. But of course this will be an evolving challenge, because I am walking on the unknown territory here. I know that most of the NPC have their battle redone by the developers, so I imagine this might be one of the hardest challenge in Pokemon world. I hope I don't lose my sanity along the way. And as always, any input will be taken into account!
  11. Oh wow, thank you guys, I didn't expect someone would be interested at all with my endeavor. I have read both BlueZacian and Rachel's feedbacks, and you guys give me some important insight regarding how I will approach this challenge. So here are the first few steps I will do before I started the challenge: 1. I will either buy/catch 6 Smeargles and breed them so I get 6 Smeargle eggs 2. I hatch them and level them up to level 5, so some EV gained are unavoidable. Or I can just use rare candies, but I will see if that could be bought/gained without paying/investing time too much 3. I assume that trainer rebattles are valuable asset here, so I need to start in a region where they allow trainer rebattles every day 4. I will play the game up till the point where I can trade (in PokeMMO means after you get your first Pokemon?) Then I will trade all six Smeargle cubs which only knows Sketch 5. From then on I will try my best not to use in battle items except held items. I will also not use GTL for Pokemon buying purpose. 6. I know limiting moveset will be a challenge of its own, but to learn aa specific moveset alone will impose a problem of its own. For example, even though Endeavor + Sucker Punch is a sure kill move, the process to get those moves are not an easy one. One miscalculation and I might be stuck with the wrong move for the next 10 levels. 7. I will try to play up until 4th gym and from there reassess our next step I will post updates on my challenge run here, and start looking for my Smeargles soon. Of course any input from you guys will be valuable!
  12. Oh hi, thanks for the feedback BlueZacian! Reading on it gives me some more insight on what I want to do, and yeah I think it's important to start slow on first 4 gyms. No item during battle probably gonna be hard, but I respect the point of view. As for streaming I might do so, but I will keep my journey updated through this post. So what I want to do is breed me some Smeargles for my run, or probably buy it if one is available for sale. I think nature and EVs will be important so somewhere along the playthrough I need to take EV training seriously. What do you think? And of course, more feedback would be great!
  13. Hello there guys, returning player here. I was thrilled to see that this game is still up and running, and even grow in size. I wanted to enter the game again, and I definitely can't get into PvP because as you can see life happens to all of us and for me that means less time playing. So what I want to do is to have a fun, chill, but extremely challenging playthrough. There is a good chance you might remember that someone with YouTube channel Pikasprey had attempted 6 Smeargle Run on both Pokemon Crystal and Fire Red. To sum it up quickly, It was hell, mainly because: 1. Smeargle has in total 250 Stats altogether. Yep, it's half the amount of pseudo-legendary total stats, which in world of Pokemon means that it's unusable 2. Smeargle can only learn the move Sketch every 10 levels. While in PvP battle this might be great because it adds to surprise element, in PvE this will be a nightmare because that means you are locked to only certain moveset for at least 10 levels, and most of the moves you're going to use doesn't have STAB 3. While Smeargle can literally learn any moves he see, he cannot learn it via TM/HM. This ramps up the complexity even further. That being said, I think it would be interesting to attempt this run in PokeMMO, mainly because I believe this game is stable and I can trust my progress in this game will be somewhat safe. Playing online this also will be some kind of proof that I'm not cheating during this playthrough, unlike in ROMs/Emulators where you can use cheat codes/speed up. So, I want to ask you guys for some input: 1. Do you think this run is possible to finish? 2. Where should I start my journey? 3. Should I use in-battle items or no? And generally any feedback will be appreciated! I am hyped to start this challenge soon, but first I want to hear you opinion on this run. Good day!
