  1. Introduction and Usage

    Spoiler

Mold breaker is an ability that allows you to bypass the sturdy ability of Donphan to potentially OHKO it [100% OHKO with Basculin when its HA drops]

Surf will be used to handle Donphan and Dodrio that appear in the grass. The calcs will be shown in the moves explanation category. Keep in mind that Donphans can hold the Passho berry.

Haxorus is bulkier than Rampardos which makes it more useful to withstand attacks from Dodrios and Donphans when you find a shiny, however due to its decrease in base special attack (5 points less), it drops in damage output a bit thought not by much. Calcs are included in their respective sections.

Basculin, when its HA mold breaker drops, surpasses both of them. It can guarantee OHKO both donphan hordes and dodrio hordes. With a Rash nature, it will need a minimum special attack IV of 16 with no special attack EVs and can therefore maximize Defense and HP to withstand attacks. It comes with Surf for the hordes and ice beam to thin take out the non-shinies in a horde. It will also be fine with 0 for its speed IV and 0 for its speed EVs. It is cheaper to breed compared to Rampardos and requires less exp to level compared to Haxorus

    Ability explanation

    Spoiler

Mold breaker make sturdy invalid so that you can bypass it. This allows you to beat the Donphan hordes in Mt. Silver

    Nature explanation

    Spoiler

Rash is the best nature for each. It maximizes Surf damage and Basculin's ice beam damage while still allowing you to utilize the offensive damage from their high base attack stats wherever you like in other PvE aspects. The special defense stat doesn't matter in Mt. Silver with donphans and dodrios therefore you don't have to worry about it.

Basculin can be utilized with every nature and I will include the EV distribution below for special attack neutral natures and reduced special attack natures.

Good sweet scent Pokémon to bring along to pair with a Rampardos/Haxorus/Basculin

    Spoiler

I was informed about a concern when finding a shiny dodrio/donphan wherein if you're leveling 4 other pokes, your remaining two slots are taken by up Rampardos/Haxorus/Basculin and a sweet scenter.

In order to maximize your toolkit, I looked for the best sweet scenters to have on Mt. Silver. The two that stood out are Amoonguss and Parasect because they both learn Spore + Sweet scent. They can both outspeed the fastest Dodrio at level 100 to spore it. They can both resist damage from high jump kick and thrash. Using protect to prevent high jump kick damage or a ghost type pokemon won't work as it will still take damage.

Amoonguss: Dual poison and grass type for poison type damage against Dodrio. Has a higher base HP stat than Parasect. It learns sludge bomb and bullet seed. At level 100 with a naive nature, 31 speed IV, and 252 speed EVs, it hits a speed stat of 174. The fastest dodrio which is speed boosted, 31 speed IV, and at level 62 has a speed stat of 177. Sludge bomb takes out the bulkiest Dodrio. with a 31 attack IV, 252 attack EVs, and choice band, a 2-hit bullet speed will take out the bulkiest donphan. It then learns both spore and sweet scent. When paired with basculin, after calcing for back-to-back crits against Basculin, it will definitely last long enough to take out all other donphans leaving amoongus to spore donphan without the need of being choice locked into band. Clear smog is a good move to remove the attack buffs from dodrio if it gets too high. In order to handle Dodrio's ability of Early Bird, you can use stun spore instead. It pairs nicely with sweet scent so you can lower Dodrio's and Donphan's evasiveness thereby increasing the accuracy of landing stun spore AFTER you take out all the non-shinies. Amoonguss would be my pick for the best sweet scenter for Mt. Silver

Parasect. Has access to false swipe and thief. Thief can be handy if an absol swarm or froslass swarm appear at Mt. Silver

    Amoonguss

    Nature: Naive

    Ability: Regenerator

IVs: 2x31 in attack and speed. high HP/defense

    EVs: 252 attack, 6 defense, 252 speed

    Item: leftovers

Moves: sludge bomb, spore or stun spore, sweet scent, clear smog

    Rampardos

    Optimal Build

    Spoiler

    Pokémon: Rampardos
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    Nature: Rash

**You can use Mild if you roll nature for it**
IVs: 2x31 in Special Attack and Speed.

**31s in HP, Defense, and Attack are more optimal, but you can use 30s to make it a bit cheaper. Higher defense/HP helps against donphan/dodrio damage. You can maximize attack if you want if you have areas you want to deal physical damage in.

EVs: 158 Defense, 252 Special Attack, 100 Speed
    Moves: Surf, Ice Beam

Egg Moves: Hammer arm, Stomp, Thrash

**Optional, but I recommend them for versatility and maximizing the moveset**

**If you pass egg moves to the final breed, they are re-learnable. This means you will have expanded the maximum moveset of your final breed**

HM moves: Cut, Rock climb, rock smash, strength, Surf

    IVs explanation

    Spoiler

2x31 in Special Attack and Speed: Maximizing your speed IV lets you minimize the speed EVs needed which are 100. Maximizing your special attack IV allows you to maximize Surf damage and ice beam damage. M

2x31 in HP and Defense: This only considers damage from Donphans that survive as well as donphans and dodrios that attack you while you take out non-shinies if you find a shiny. You don't NEED these to be 31s. You can use 30s to save some yen when breeding.

    EVs explanation

    Spoiler

Maximum Special Attack EVs to benefit Surf against Dodrio and Donphan and a potential fourth move

100 speed EVs to outspeed the fastest donphans and dodrios

158 Defense EVs to take hits from Dodrio and Donphan when attacking non-shinies

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mold Breaker Rampardos Surf vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0+ SpD Passho Berry Donphan: 170-200 (84.1 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO [specially defensive boosted nature Donphan]

@c4v For introducing the build to me.

There are several others that worked with caav to make this build, but unfortunately as the build was made through people pitching in here and there according to caav, I am unable to identify all the authors.

    Haxorus

    Optimal Build

    Spoiler

    Pokémon: Rampardos
    Ability: Mold Breaker
    Nature: Rash

**You can use Mild if you roll nature for it**
    IVs: 1x31 in Special Attack

**I prefer 31s in HP, Defense, and Attack, but I use 30s to make it a bit cheaper. Higher defense/HP helps against donphan/dodrio damage. Haxorus will outspeed Donphan and Dodrio even if it has 0 speed IV/EVs**

EVs: 6 HP, 252 Defense, 252 Special Attack
    Moves: Surf, Dragon Pulse

    Egg Moves:

**Optional, but I recommend them for versatility and maximizing the moveset**

**If you pass egg moves to the final breed, they are re-learnable. This means you will have expanded the maximum moveset of your final breed**

HM moves: Cut, Rock smash, strength, Surf

    IVs explanation

    Spoiler

1x31 in Special Attack: Maximizing your special attack IV allows you to maximize Surf damage and dragon pulse damage.

2x31 in HP and Defense: This considers damage from Donphans and Dodrios that survive. It's negligible so you don't NEED these to be 31s. If you get a shiny dodrio or donphan and need to thin the horde, you can expect to take damage so higher IVs in these would be ideal. I personally use 30s to save some yen when breeding and get use out of them. If want to strike a balance between caring about these IVs and special defense, you can do 18+ which is extremely doable with spending much extra if that with breeders.

    EVs explanation

    Spoiler

252 Special Attack EVs to benefit Surf against Dodrio and Donphan

0 speed EVs to outspeed the fastest donphans and dodrios

252 Defense EVs + 6 HP EVs to take hits from Dodrio and Donphan when attacking non-shinies

    Moves explanation

    Spoiler

Calculations for Rash/Mild Haxorus using Surf against Dodrio

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mold Breaker Haxorus Surf vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0 SpD Dodrio: 177-209 (107.2 - 126.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO [neutral nature]

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mold Breaker Haxorus Surf vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0+ SpD Dodrio: 163-192 (98.7 - 116.3%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO [special defense boosted nature]

Calculations for Rash/Mild Haxorus using Surf against Donphan

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mold Breaker Haxorus Surf vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0 SpD Passho Berry Donphan: 177-209 (87.6 - 103.4%) -- 25% chance to OHKO [neutral nature]

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mold Breaker Haxorus Surf vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0+ SpD Passho Berry Donphan: 163-192 (80.6 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO [special defense boosted nature]

Compared to Rampardos against the worst Dodrio, there was only a 1.3% dropoff in chance to guarantee OHKO the hardest build.

Compared to Rampardos against the strongest Donphan, there was about a 3.1% - 4% dropoff.

With the marginal difference in offensive power yet nearly twice the bulk, Haxors mold breaker is a strong mold breaker contender for leveling at Mt. Silver and does much better at taking hits from dodrio and donphan while thinning out the hordes with a chance for a shiny

hi there, i was trying to get the battle tower lvl 50 and 100 ribbons, but i won and i didnt get it. i tryed many chellenges without get the ribbons. which is the trick?

Once you have defeated 50 battles on each level without losing, you will get the ribbon. Each set is a battle of 7 so it's more like 7-8 sets to get the ribbon. Then if you go back into tower while your streak is above 50 and you still haven't lost, every 7 battles will give you another ribbon

I follow this guide but i have noticed from two Alpha encounters that after several turns with Contrary the minus skills turn into + from some reason (Yup had +6 in all stat alphas)

That’s an alpha mechanic meant to prevent us from making alphas too easy by lowering stats. Normally you’re able to catch it before it does this, but if it does, you can eliminate stat changes with an unaware quagsire with haze especially since it can take hits and use yawn

If you have a 31 HP iv breloom, giving it 16 HP evs puts it to 265 hp, if you drop that to 12 hp evs your hp will be a multiple of 8, thus poison heal will heal back a substitute in 2 turns instead of 3

Great suggestion, but I just tested and Breloom heals fully within 2 turns. I added the details into the EV distribution section as an explanation with numbers. I appreciate you letting me so I could add that info in!
