I had a simliar problem. Did you catch the other Snorlax?
No, I didn't catch the other snorlax. My encounters with snorlax were very similar to virt's here.

While battling the wild snorlax outside of Celadon City, I encountered a bug which froze the battle.
I used a pokeball, Snorlax broke out and finished off my pokemon, which caused the game to freeze.
I assume it has something to do with the need to switch pokemon and the inventory window not closing automatically after using an item.
The consequence of this bug was that I lost my chance with that snorlax, which I've been looking forward to catching since i began the game =*( . Please fix it so that nobody else has to suffer a similar tragedy!

How it currently is:
Revenge seems to have a lesser priority. My machamp attacked second while fighting a snorlax with half its speed.
How it should be:
Revenge does lose priority in gen IV onward, but not in gen III, apparently.
