1. Or, just create an option to stop rendering the people in the background when you are battling.
 2.
Maybe 350 hours or 200 active posts on the forum? Numbers can be discussed of course.
An hour requirement is much easier. The game would just check a value that already exists.
 3. Basically, making walls stronger, without even giving sweepers everything they should have in generation 3.
 4.
Thank you sir, for pointing out the obvious.
That was really funny to me. Also, refer to the first post about the veteran jargon.
 5.
350? I only have 244 hours.
I can only please so many people. 350 hours sounds good to me becuase it keeps the spirit of the idea more intact. It encourages people to keep playing and provides a small goal to the community.
 6. 100 hour suggestion in the OP changed to 350. Remember that this number is changeable.
 7.

It was never funny in the first place, stop.

>Sees Darshade post >Expects answer >Sad me >Kinda lol'd >Srs what's going on, Darkshade?
 8.
I don't see this benig necessary. You can just turn of Global and if you don't like channelchat you can chat with your team. If you don't have a team go find one (yes I know ).
Yes, but I want a good channel chat. Wouldn't a channel chat feed where experienced players a actually want to talk be a great improvement? Also there are many people I would love to chat with, outside of my team. I'm sure you thought the same thing.
 9.
Because the correct value is contantly changing, the longer the game runs, the more time can be spent in game and the higher the hours the cap should be at to appease more veteran players. If you're making an example of a specific perk, you must use one in the same perk type. Allowing access to a place once a criteria is met is a different kind of perk then granting extra items for buying items or getting something cheaper time and time again for meeting a criteria. They're inherently different.
Once again, this is not truly a "Veteran" channel. Please refer the first post. Channel 9 Is meant as a perk to players who stick around and to supply them with a higher quality channel. The hour requirement does not need to be raised as time goes on. You're also severely confused about how a perk system must be set up; You believe it must fit into some mold that you are comfortable with for some reason. That's very illogical. If a system works, the mold is unnecessary. However if you need a real life example, here goes it : After some months were spent working for the Disney Company, my uncle was able to take me to any Disney theme park for free and go anywhere I wanted. You're not going to win this argument.
 10.
The staff decide stuff, I know this and still don't see your point with that list. It's not impossible to find the correct value, it's just impractical. I'm sorry if you find the words I type to be 'flowery', but I don't really see the link between the way I type normally and the point I bring to the table. Nothing silly or theoretical about something already in the game. The big difference between your real life example and the game is that the real life stuff keeps giving you perks, you get more and more the longer you stick with them. And you're not buying the channel, but you are buying the sandwiches to get the free ones.
There is nothing impractical about deciding what works and implementing it. You have yet to say why the correct value is impractical. You just expect me to believe that it must be. And to the sandwich example, who cares? Not every perk has to be on a ladder system. If you're old, you get a senior discount at Denny's Diner. I don't gradually get better discounts every 10 years.
 11.
You didn't actually address my point at all. I never said veteran players shouldn't get any perks. The problem comes when you address at what point the player has invested enough to get the perk. I'll put it this way, I'm almost at 1000 hours of gameplay, I've been playing the game since last August. Those at 100 hours, I consider as new to the game, unless ofcourse they've been mostly around the forums this whole time. Giving a channel whos only restriction is 100 hours of gameplay is negligable to me, I do not consider this channel a perk. Similarily, if someone had 10000 hours of gameplay they would consider me new to the game and a restriction of 1000 hours of gameplay would be negligable to them. Proof of this? Global. You need to have a number of badges before you can post there. Those with 100 hours of gameplay find this negligable so this is suggested, why? Because the perk of Global doesn't feel like a perk to them.
This is pretty ridiculous, to be honest. It's a lot of flowery language, and it's worded quite well. But, you're really just saying that it is impossible to find the correct amount of hours as a requirement, and even if you do, it is unfair to people with more hours that don't get additional perks. Well, here's some information for you : 1. The staff decides when you can post in global 2. The staff decides when you can post in channel 3. The staff decides when you can post in trade 4. The staff decides when you can post in the suggestion forum 5. The staff decides when you can view certain subforums 6. The staff can decide when you can join channel 9. Lets seperate these silly theoretical models from reality. Is it impossible, anywhere at all, to give a small perk to the people who stick around? I get free stuff from movie theaters, coffee shops, sandwich shops, restaurants, and sports venues for free, because of my continued purchase of their services. I don't think anyone has complained about requiring me to buy more sub sandwiches. And getting a free sandwich does feel like a perk to me.
 12.
"Channel 9" is basically team chat WITHOUT microphones. The whole purpose is to separate the more "experienced and intelligent" players. At least, that is what I've gathered from this.
It's not team chat at all. I can talk to anyone I want to, especially people from other teams.
 13. You guys keep forgetting that teamspeak is almost entirely private. It is team chat with microphones. Channel 9 is for everyone who meets the requirements.
 14. I have yet to see a con for this idea or a reason as to why channel 9 would not work.
 15.
Point #1 I can agree with. You say you want a global experience yet youre wanting to exclude the majority of the global community due to lack of experience or maturity. There is a restriction on global already, Instead of suggesting a new channel, why not suggest tighter restrictions for Global Chat? Why do long time players need perks? The people you are referring to are usually on team speak or communiciate with each other in the forums. while its not in-game, what you want for the most part already exists, whether or not you take advantage of this is up to you. It wasnt a terrible argument, it's just the truth. They arent going to implement a new channel for select people, #1 its pointless to try and exclude the cancer of the community due to the shear amount of it, #2 if you dont want to be involved with those people there are already ways to get around it. For example, do you know Statius? Your requirements in the OP, he meets them. Can you imagine him on Ch. 9?
TL;DR We can talk about theory all day, and go back and forth forever. In reality, channel 9 would be used and loved. If you personally don't like it for some reason, don't use it, just like any other completely togglable feature.
 16.
There's not really any perks for having your own channel as well...and the whole purpose of this Channel is to segregate the "intelligent and experienced" players...you can easily do that in TeamSpeak.
Once again, not with channel chat, and not with the in game interaction. In reality I can't chat with 95% of the people in team speak due to private rooms. It's just team chat with microphones.
 17.
Not everyone has teamspeak - easy to download... Not everyone has a microphone - you can type.. Not everyone wants to download and use teamspeak - Dont be lazy... Most teamspeak rooms are private - Isnt this the whole point? Due to real life issues speaking is not possible - dont have to speak Due to real life issues speaker usage is not possible dont nead to hear a typed msg Anyone can use teamspeak, including complete noobs - not if you password protect your channel. This argument is invalid due to the fact that if you can play pokemmo, you can use team speak. and it accomplishes basically everything youre asking for.
These are all terrible arguments. Like I have said many times in this thread, there is a big difference between theory and reality. Biggest of all, team speak does not do the following : Provide in-game interaction Provide "global" experienced chat. Rooms are private in team speak. Provide a perk to long time players Team speak is meant to fulfill a different role.
 18.
Team Speak does this for us does it not?
Not everyone has teamspeak Not everyone has a microphone Not everyone wants to download and use teamspeak Most teamspeak rooms are private Due to real life issues speaking is not possible Due to real life issues speaker usage is not possible Anyone can use teamspeak, including complete noobs
 19.
A lack of game-play time has nothing to do with it. The lack of initiative is the problem.
That's a nice little theory, but people learn and get experienced over time. Also, people almost always get the initiative to learn more about the metagame after they have beaten the storyline. That takes quite a few hours.
 20.
My eyes are open, that is why I can see what you have typed and posted on this thread. New PokeMMO players can be experienced as well, in terms of competition.
I lol'd. Opening your eyes was a metaphor. And, sure my 13 year old little brother immerses himself in competitive sports and video games. That doesn't mean he's experienced enough to be a channel 9 player with his 28 hours of gameplay. He still doesn't know much of anything about this game.
 21.
I highly doubt that. Sorry for being a pessimist, but this is an MMO. You're playing with HUMANS. We are naturally stupid, and giving people online services like social networking and MMOs (great examples are Runescape and WoW) only helps to amplify said stupidity. Now, I'm not saying that everyone is an idiot, but there's not a lot of intelligent people on PokeMMO. (No offense, but it is kinda true. :l)
I'm not even being optimistic ; I'm being realistic. If you have a channel that requires experience, you get chat from a more experienced perspective. Besides, i see tons of intelligent people in this game. You just need to open your eyes.
 22.
Intelligence is subjective.
Sure, that's true. However, channel 9 chat would be more intelligent and experienced relative to what we have now.
 23.
Then back to my first point in that post, fill your team with those type of players. That was part of the reasons teams were implemented wasn't it? I started playing not too long before they were implemented and I remember that being a big deal.
Channel 9 is a place where I could possibly talk to Compuboys, VVVVs, EVs, etc. Having an more intelligent channel chat for people from many teams would be great. I have many friends from other teams.
If this channel were to be moderated, my support may be slowly shifting, not that it matters.
Channel 9 being moderated is implied. All channels require moderation. In fact, I imagine that some of the community managers would rather hang out in channel 9 than the others.
