Open information is good, but in VGC the greatest thing is that no one can see what you brought no matter how much they know your team, they will only know the leads from the beginning, the other two in back do not

You can play without team preview im pretty sure.

This may be worth a poll, some mons it’s not a big deal, but being able to move EVs around based on your opponents team could be an issue… namely mons like Garchomp who can drop down speed tiers  without the likes of Hydrei etc

Yeah this is definitely an issue. But hosts can keep an eye on matches and if mosf stuff gets recorded you can kind of look for suspicious damage calcs or speed from game to game. If you know what I mean. Anyone caught changing EVs should then immediately be banned from the tournament.

  2. Disagree with most of whats been said

You don't even know if legends will bring balance because our meta would look completely different from bw or even oras. So that's just flat out wrong. Second, pokemon balance is pretty meh and tiers like bw ou have underwent some major changes due to their poor balance. Even with legendaries. If not for a very active and passionate council + community some tiers would be utter trash.

The devs should allow the council more power though, so that together with the community it has more tools to try and find balance in the tiers.

We started with 3v3 catchmmo back with Slowbro with CM + Rest and Snorlax being on every team, but I digress. Old times, hope this actually never comes back lmao

We had a power-based system I think up to 2014 or 2015, which was putting pokemon in respective tiers based on their "power", based on community's input and TC's judgement. For our smaller community (uncomparable to showdown, from which the usage-based tiering was taken) I believe that might be way better, not only because of the uniqueness of the system itself- of course there is an argument, that it can become heavily biased, but first of all- we will not have things like monthly usage-based moves, which will not fuck up big tournaments like it did many times in the past. Pokemon moves in the tiers would happen only after a collaborated discussion between community and TC. Secondly, we will be able to avoid situations where even a small group of players is spamming a certain pokemon in a higher tier to get rid of it from the lower one.

Obviously, this kind of system is putting a lot more pressure on TC and increases their workload, as the moves between tiers would be fully dependant on them, instead of usage.

Imo, it's worth discussing if such an option is even a possibility.

Time to dial up Amanu and get back to work

  4. I think you should even consider if usage is still the best way to go about defining the lower tiers. The strength of usage based tiering is that you have so much objective data to form tiers with, that it gets difficult to argue for more subjective approaches. Now though, we don't have the benefit of plenty of data anymore. Making it easier for stats to get skewed in the lower tiers. IMO TC should look at other options to form the lower tiers.

  5. Gym rematches are the most consistent way to make money in this game and it pays around 250k an hour, which you have to be active in. Now let me be VERY generous and say you consistently bring in another 100k an hour while flipping items on GTL during gym rematches. You make 350k an hour. To have made 8.4 mil in 3 days you would have to spend 24 hours playing this game doing nothing else but gym rematching and flipping.

With 8.4m you can make around 3 good IVd teams. Nice, except your team probably needs tweaking after a few runs of testing and then some more tweaking, and some more tweaking. Now you need to balance out gym reruns while also grinding ladder for BP to you can breed cost effectively.

Dude, I have like max 8 hours a week to play this game. Not everyone is in high school.

they really should add better rewards for lower tiers at this rate uu is going to die. i heard that you guys were planning on giving more bp for lower tiers or somthing like that. i don't think that's the best solution cuz i dont think people only play for the bp rewards

There will never be enough rewards because it just takes too much time to make comps for different tiers. Its a fundamental problem in game design, balancing and philosophy, which cannot be solved by upping rewards here and there.

Can I get community to share their inputs (respectfully) about P2?

I've been running ladder for the past few days, and across all tiers this Pokemon is probably the only one (Apart from Dugtrio) that may warrant a discussion.

I don't want to elaborate much for now, but I'll just write a starting point:

First it is a mon that is terribly hard to switch into with an offensive team thanks to its coverage options, an already solid special attack and access to download. Not only that but its gargantuan defenses allow it to pretty much switch against anything that doesn't pack a stabbed and powerful Fighting move. This by itself may not be considered banworthy but there is something I realized upon spectating plenty of late rounds tournaments in UU: A lot, and I mean a lot, of teams are actually awfully built and weak to a lot of common stuff, except P2 is there to fix all those flaws without any major drawback whatsoever and I don't believe that is a good thing.

In sum, P2 is way way too good not to be used in bulkier teams, and even a really viable option to serve as a pivot in more offensive ones. Is it too good for UU? I am not so sure yet, although by experience I can state it is really really a pressuring point in any battle that shouldn't be considering its absurd bulk capabilities, as well as deciding games in its own commonly once the enemy runs out of their Fighting mons (Which isn't hard to do since the tier has plenty of options of those) or if they simply do not possess them.

Feel free to add into this.

    Dugtrio should be still banned

Maybe read the past two discussion threads and the talk about p2 like half a year ago in uu viability discord. Its all still valid, nothing has changed..
