  1. And the winners are... 1) @Fermie98 As well as Gyarados, this team makes use of some very unique choices, such as Lucario, without sacrificing team composition. 2) @ThinkNicer A very well-rounded team, with creative choices like curse ferrothorn and choice scarf togekiss. Congrats to both! And thank you for all your excellent submissions :))
  2. Thanks for all the submissions! Now that we have some more entries, we will finalise the winners and let you know! Great teams guys ^^
  3. Unfortunately we'll have to cancel as there have been too few entries :( Edit: Will be continuing now there are more entries
  4. Great review mate! Straight to the point :)
  5. No problem at all, here to help <3 Just a few more pointers: Have you considered fighting gem mienshao? With Close Combat that would be more consistent against P2! Icy Wind is probably better off on a Choice Scarf Pelipper set, as you get to provide immediate speed control for a slower partner (scarf pelipper outspeeds base 120s). Overall, tailwind with Sash is more consistent - here's a scenario: pelipper+kingdra vs pelipper+kingdra. You icy wind and protect with kingdra; the opponent protects their kingdra and uses tailwind with pelipper. Icy Wind also has a chance to miss too, and only reduces speed by one stage, rather than two. As a side note because we mentioned electric types, I wonder about the viability of Rotom-Mow on rain teams, as most rain teams tend to require electric and grass coverage for gastrodon/rotom/crobat/togekiss/blastoise... Worth a try! Maybe something like this... https://pokepast.es/cfc8c2aa0473238b
  6. I think the team is generally quite solid, but will need a few tweaks! Close Combat>High Jump Kick on Mienshao. Since most doubles mons have protect, you will likely end up using half of your health every time the opponent blocks your attack. Tailwind>Wide Guard on Pelipper. If your team needs tailwind support for max efficiency, it's better to have 2 setters than 1. Consider your Trick Room matchup. None of the pokemon on your team can OHKO or taunt reuniclus, one of the most common TR setters. Perhaps change Scizor for Metagross* and give Whimsicott Taunt instead of Helping Hand Try some more move options on Kingdra, like Draco Meteor>Dragon Pulse, and muddy water (which bypasses storm drain) over scald. Hurricane is also nice for dealing with opposing rain teams with Ludicolo, which checks gastrodon Focus Sash>Leftovers on Whimsicott - it's very frail! *Metagross is your only crobat check. If you do end up switching it for scizor, you'll need to consider this. Your team will struggle against togekiss/blastoise set up teams, as you have no way of stopping follow me, or dealing significant damage to either of them. This is why an electric type is very useful on a rain team, such as modest Electric Gem Jolteon, or a Rotom form. Look at the structure of teams such as @Lactosoid's Rain team of Pelipper/Ludicolo/Rotom-W/Metagross/Mienshao/Chandelure for inspiration. I hope this helps!
  7. Some more Rachmaninoff, here is my Piano Trio performing my arrangement of one of his songs (I'm the violinist):
  8. For those of you who enjoy Classical Music, this is my performance of the Prelude in B Minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff (whom my profile is named after). It is based on the below painting by Arnold Böcklin, called "The Homecoming" (Die Heimkehr). Rachmaninoff composed this work before he had to flee Russia in the October Revolution. If Moiseiwitsch's account is to be believed, it was his favourite prelude, as it reminded him of his home, which he lost forever. I hope you enjoy.
  9. This month's Pokemon are Arcanine, Gyarados or Snorlax! Use 1 or more of these Pokemon to build your team. Here's a sample team: https://pokepast.es/c88177286f46fa41 Looking forward to seeing your submissions!
  10. And the winners are... 1st Place: @ThinkNicer 2nd Place: @isi1993 Congratulations! Check your mail inbox for your prizes! Explanation 1st place was awarded to @ThinkNicer as it was the most creative submission, without sacrificing viability. Abomasnow and Nasty Plot Togekiss are excellent partners for Mamoswine, but are not immediately obvious choices. Well done! 2nd place was more difficult to decide. It was eventually awarded to @isi1993 for an excellent submission, with interesting non-standard choices, such as choice scarf Tyranitar.
  11. Last chance for submissions! Deadline is tomorrow at 00:00 BST
  12. Glad you find this useful! Feel free to send me your team ideas if you want them critiqued!
  13. I might as well throw my own team into the mix, obviously not for any prizes though... https://pokepast.es/b4d5b18b9a66be57 I get the feeling that this is the "standard" mold that most Mamoswine teams will fall into, a standard hyper offensive team with tailwind support. With a few surprises... Scarf Mamoswine. Arash Ommati's Choice Scarf Mamoswine famously won the VGC 2013 World Championships, so I thought I'd have a go at building around it. It outspeeds base 130s like Crobat/Jolteon so that it can nail them with an Icicle Crash/Earthquake before they get a chance to move. The only downside is the power drop from Jolly nature instead of Adamant. An Adamant speed tier to hit would be 156 Spe, which outpaces base 110s with Scarf, if you want to give it a go :)) Mixed Mence. Nothing too special. I thought that a timid nature wouldn't give me the longevity that a mixed set would, so I decided to forgo protect and opt for MixMence. This Tyranitar spread allows me to outspeed Garchomp in Tailwind, as well as surviving the following damage calcs: 252+ Atk Life Orb Excadrill Iron Head vs. 188 HP / 116 Def Tyranitar: 166-198 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ SpA Life Orb Abomasnow Leaf Storm vs. 188 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 166-198 (83.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 252+ SpA Choice Specs Pelipper Hydro Pump vs. 188 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 168-198 (84.4 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Standard Mienshao *yawn* - next. Overheat Chandelure. Considering most opponents would expect Heat Wave, Overheat bypasses Wide Guard, and with a 145 base SpAtk stat, is a huge nuke. Most Metagross are EV'd to survive a 252+ Chandelure Heat Wave anyways, so this improves the matchup slightly. Light Screen Rotom-Mow. Since the metagame is becoming increasingly hyper offensive, I thought a bulkier Rotom-M set with Will-O-Wisp and Light Screen would be an excellent method of damage control (bar guts users like hariyama/conkeldurr). Without Rotom-Mow on this team, Rotom-Wash is a huge threat. I hope this competition can help diversify the doubles metagame! Looking forward to seeing your submissions! ^^

  16. Thank you! The overwhelming majority of Salamence in doubles are offensively oriented, so no, tank mence doesn't exist in doubles.
  17. Yes that's correct, the table is written in shorthand. I might add some niche picks later on, like shell smash blastoise...
  18. 19. I don't think it could be guts conkeldurr, as it didn't take life orb recoil from using thunderpunch, which is boosted by sheer force, whereas mach punch isn't. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
  20. Changes according to discord: Ludicolo -> A- Tier Mienshao -> A- Tier Scizor -> A- Tier Ferrothorn -> B+ Tier Mamoswine -> B+ Tier Poliwrath -> B- Tier Beheeyem -> C Tier
