  1. Thanks for the support @OrangeManiac The fact that the viability rankings for doubles hasn't been updated in a while (although I've just updated it now) speaks to the fact that it is a very stable metagame, in comparison to the singles tiers. Please let me know any suggestions you have, and we'll consider them for the rankings as a collective effort. Here's the discord link: https://discord.gg/prUxrFNh I encourage a healthy debate about this, so let's please be as charitable as possible in our arguments. Sableye and Murkrow will be considered for ranking. All the best, Rakh
  2. Made the following changes @OrangeManiac "Amoonguss from B to B+. Regen made it certainly better but Sleep Clause prevents it becoming the monster it is in VGC formats. Im not against it becoming A- worthy eventually but it hasnt really picked up the play despite Regen yet. Arcanine from B- to B+. Because of AV, Arcanine has started to see some play. It is amazing counter to Serperior, Intimidate is always nice and priority seems like super useful in the current meta. AV also prevents Arca from dying to rain teams in a single hit and mitigates its slightly awkward defensive typing. Braviary to B-. Theoretically not all that bad, good offensive pressure, Tailwind and now Defiant. Realistically, I dont see it replacing Crobat in most teams. Shaymin to A-. I think A- is fair for it for now. Lots of amazing traits, amazing base stats. Faces competition with Serp and putting it one rank below it is fair. I think the usage for Shaymin will always be misleading due to not being so accessible to players due to high price, so low usage cant immediately be an indication of being a poor Pokemon. Has lots of potential though."
  3. Will there be Pokémon with hidden abilities that won't be released?
  4. My latest composition! It's based on the Peter Pan mythology, with references to the score of my favourite game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Hope you enjoy!

  6. Doubles Roles Compendium Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Doubles Roles Compendium! This guide is the fourth installment to my doubles guides, the rest of which you can access here: This guide aims to outline the various functions which each viable Pokemon has within the metagame. This will help new and experienced players to find the right Pokemon to fit their team when looking for specific roles, or to spice up your team with non-standard options. Use this in conjunction with the Teambuilding Frameworks to optimise your team! Threat-Specific Roles These Pokemon are necessary to deal with high-tier threats to your team. Without these Pokemon, your team will struggle against the threat they check. Tyranitar Checks Scizor/Metagross Checks Reuniclus Checks Rotom Wash Checks Togekiss/Blastoise/Crobat Checks Hitmontop/Mienshao/Hariyama Checks Porygon2 Checks Trick Room Checks Team-Specific Roles These Pokemon are necessary to fill out the remaining roles in your team. Pokemon are generally listed by the standard which they fulfill the required role. Speed Control Tailwind Trick Room Icy Wind Thunder Wave/Glare Priority Attacks Weather Setters/Abusers Sand Rain Hail Sun Set Up Redirection Follow Me Rage Powder Utility Moves Fake Out+Feint Taunt Haze Imprison+Follow Me Damage Control Intimidate Will-O-Wisp Scald Snarl Let me know what you think! Hope this helps with your team building :))
  7. Updates according to Discord https://discord.gg/MKtjuzyMkv Scizor to S Hitmontop to A Serperior to A Salamence to A- Gyarados to B+ Milotic to B+ Raichu to B+ Infernape to B
  8. I'd like to know if alpha swarms are going to be limited to a set number of Pokemon with hidden abilities, or if it will be a permanent feature to introduce hidden abilities to the game indefinitely. Thanks!
  9. Hey everyone! Long time no see :)) After the new updates to hidden starter abilities, as well as the introduction of some new balancing abilities, here are some of my thoughts on cores which I predict will be quite popular in the doubles metagame: Weezing+Slaking Thanks to the new "Reactive Gas" ability, Slaking's Truant can now be cancelled on entry, and until weezing faints (assuming this is how the ability's mechanics work). This means that Slaking is now viable in the competitive scene, and with its 150/160/100/95/65/100 base stat distribution, it has the highest available BST (670) of any available Pokemon. Weezing @ Sitrus Berry / Payapa Berry / Focus Sash Ability: Reactive Gas Level: 50 EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Calm Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Sludge Bomb - Taunt - Will-O-Wisp - Protect The main goal with this set is longevity. With its base 65/120/70 bulk, a Calm nature is needed to balance out its Special Defense. For these reasons, a defensive item such as payapa berry can also be used in order to survive Reuniclus' Psychic, which it otherwise can't endure. Focus Sash is also an option to guarantee that it survives any single-targeted attack. This moveset was a pretty standard go-to in the VGC metagame (weezing+regigigaas), and aims to provide some basic support for Slaking in Taunt and Will-O-Wisp. Other options may include Haze or Clear Smog. Slaking @ Life Orb / Chople Berry / Focus Sash Ability: Truant EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Double-Edge - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Protect All-out offensive Slaking. Because Truant is only suppressed whilst Weezing is on the field, Slaking needs to make the most of its few turns in the limelight. Life Orb is to increase its offensive capacity. Chople Berry may also be an option to guard against super-effective fighting attacks, as with Focus Sash. Other options include Hammer Arm, Night Slash, Return/Frustration, Low Kick... You may also want to consider an Adamant nature, with a bit more bulk on the SpD side, or even Slack Off, to give Slaking some more longevity. Otherwise, Jolly nature is pretty ideal. Other Options: Slaking @ Chople Berry Ability: Truant Level: 50 EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe Adamant Nature - Double-Edge / Return - Hammer Arm / Low Kick - Slack Off - Protect Torkoal+Venusaur Another familiar face from VGC. Now that venusaur has chlorophyll, it is able to provide a "fast mode" for sun teams which utilize Trick Room. Previously, chlorophyll was only available to pokemon like lilligant and exeggutor, but now venusaur is perhaps the most balanced among the chlorophyll users, with bulk, speed and offensive capabilities. Torkoal @ Charcoal Ability: Drought Level: 50 EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD Quiet Nature IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe - Eruption - Heat Wave - Solar Beam - Protect Standard Trick Room set, so not much to explain here. Venusaur @ Life Orb / Focus Sash Ability: Chlorophyll EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Sleep Powder - Leaf Storm - Sludge Bomb - Protect Access to Sleep Powder means that Venusaur not only has good offensive capabilities, but it also functions as a supportive lead, and is able to neutralize one of the opponents pokemon with one of the fastest Sleep Powders in the game. Other Milotic @ Leftovers Ability: Competitive EVs: 244 HP / 220 Def / 4 SpA / 36 SpD / 4 Spe Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Scald / Muddy Water - Icy Wind / Ice Beam - Recover - Protect Previously milotic was outclassed by most bulky water types, like rotom-wash and blastoise, but now with its access to the competitive ability, it provides the perfect counter to intimidate users like hitmontop, salamence and arcanine, which means that it is the ideal support for a pokemon like swords dance scizor, which fears salamence+hitmontop leads. The EV spread allows Milotic to survive 252+ Rotom-Mow's Leaf Storm. Serperior @ Focus Sash / Life Orb Ability: Contrary EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Leaf Storm - Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ice] / Dragon Pulse / Giga Drain - Substitute - Protect With contrary, Serperior is able to fire off Leaf Storm after Leaf Storm, quickly building up momentum thanks to the +2 SpA boost it receives per use. Unfortunately, its coverage is terrible, so Hidden Power is used to hit opponents which resist its grass type STAB. Giga Drain can also be used to regain HP, and substitute can give it some extra longevity. Pair this with a follow me user, and you'll have a powerful combo. Light Screen and Reflect, as well as Glare, can be powerful support options. Sample Team: https://pokepast.es/63b566dcab7e573c And that's all for now! Thanks for reading :))
  10. Hi! I hope my guide does a good enough job of distilling some common roles for doubles teambuilding - on top of this guide, have a think about whether your team has enough ways to deal with every common pokemon on the viability rankings: You'll also want to ask yourself whether your team has enough ways to deal with all of the frameworks listed in this article, too. So, rain, trick room, set up and tailwind counters most likely. Suggestions Rain counter: something that can change the weather to something that isn't rain, like tyranitar, gigalith or abomasnow Trick Room counter: something that can operate in trick room, or stop it from being set up and can OHKO reuniclus and porygon2, such as scizor, crobat (taunt), mienshao, tyranitar etc... Set Up: spread moves, imprison+follow me, taunt, fake out, counters to togekiss, blastoise and electabuzz etc Tailwind: your own tailwind user, or a trick room mode
  11. My pleasure. If you need any advice on teambuilding for doubles, please feel free to send me a message and I'll do my best to offer critique :))
  12. Completely agree with you @OrangeManiac I hope this suggestion gets the attention of the devs :))
  13. I think this would likely be an over-complicated solution to a menial problem - you can already target the kind of pokemon you want in advanced search in order to get the lowest price.
  14. And the winners are... 1st Place: Fermie - 5th Generation [pokepaste] A very well balanced semi-TR team, with excellent options for both inside and outside of Trick Room. 2nd Place: YJos - 4th Generation [pokepaste] An interesting team which makes excellent use of the Toge/Chomp/Rotom-W core, with Abomasnow as a great choice for countering weather based teams. We weren't too sure about gastrodon's synergy with the team however. Congratulations to both our winners, and thank you to everyone for taking part! Let us know what you want to see in future competitions ?
  15. I'll be writing up the results later today... I had some problems with my laptop, sorry for the delay!
  16. I'm on holiday this week so will get back to you all soon... Great entries guys ❤️
  17. To reiterate, please submit your team with a detailed explanation of the teambuilding process
