  1. It should be pretty obvious to anybody who has played the actual pokemon games that the ai in pokemmo is a lot smarter. Which while being a breath of fresh air for those who have been playing pokemon since the late nineties, it can also be a source of frustration when the ai becomes a challenge again and you're left with lot less handicaps than most are used to in the handheld games. Most people i've seen in this board suggest dumbing down the NPC trainers ai, and it's only after talking with some community members that i think a better solution might be to teach the player to play smarter. There are already trainer schools in at least two of the three regions (correct me if im wrong) available that more or less go unused beyond trainer battles or grabbing any items. My suggestion is to revamp the dialogue and add new trainers inside the schools as necessary to teach players new to Pokemmo more common things the new AI can do that are a lot less frustrating when taught ways to counter them. such as This will not only benefit new players by potentially making their start less frustrating, and could potentially benefit players who've been around longer by raising the average skill level of players by the time they start entering PvP. I'm sure there are more examples other than the one above, heck you could even add in trainers who teach you about the major changes to mechanics like berries and breeding when compared to main games in the series. I'm of course open to any suggestions as to that kind of thing too. Thoughts?
  2. That's... actually a very good idea. While probably easier to do once you're a bit further in than you'd typically get frustrated by such a tactic. But that's definitely something that would be useful to be told in the trainer schools early on in the different regions.
  3. For the record, i have little to no problem with the ai not being as dumb as a fencepost in pokemmo, i feel like that's a breath of fresh air when compared to the actual games. I do object to the idea of trying to make PvE emulate and prepare you for PvP, as i'm sure i'm not the only one who's not the slightest bit interested in PvP. In addition to that, there are small quality of life tweaks that i could see being implemented without compromising the balance or difficulty of the NPC trainers and gyms. Such as getting locked in a back and forth pokemon switch with a computer when trying to counter their pokemons type/moveset. Seriously, on two occasions i've had an NPC go back and forth with me trying to counter my pokemon after i just countered his long enough for both the ai and i to nearly rotate through all six of our slots twice! That's both not fun and a great way to indicate that certain things in the pokemon games we're never designed for human versus human intelligence when they came up with those mechanics 20 something years ago.
  4. Yeah, im going to stop reading there, because while i'm sure you have a point in the context of what you're arguing for. You're still still barking up the wrong tree, and being blatantly condescending while doing so. Again, no part of what i was replying to or what i said had anything to do with player versus player content. Which is besides the fact that you're using long winded (but often valid) explanations that are clearly going to go over the heads of the majority of people who just want the pokemon in the damn game, and then getting pissy when exactly that happens.
  5. Oh by all means, please, continue to accuse me of not reading when both the quote i was responding to and what i was talking about had nothing to do with PVP. Again, scaling the difficulty of everything (Think a kind of ironman mode) when ubers are in your party would likely negate any and everything you just said. If not make it more profitable to not have them in your party if all you're interested in is money running as fast as possible. at this point i more or less agree with RichardZheng, it's not that they can't balance it. It's that they don't see any money being made from doing so as opposed to other content, which i can at least understand.
  6. Because having the difficulty in PvE scale if you have an uber in your party just like other MMO's have dungeons or enemies scale up to your level doesn't negate everything said in that quote? Honestly now, enough is enough. Every time someone comes up with a solution to one of the issues that are claimed to make it impossible i see someone else against the idea (dev or otherwise) interject with a brand new reason that it wouldn't work, often times being a slightly different version of the reason just debunked. I'd understand if the reason was 'we just don't want to add ubers', i wouldn't like it, but i'd understand. But this whole pretending that adding anything, ubers or otherwise, would make the game unbalanced when theres nobody forcing anybody working on pokemmo to just shoehorn them in without a proper solution is getting plain silly. Seriously, If the values pertaining to difficulty are properly encapulated. Add an if statement based on an uber pokemon id being in the party and if it's true apply a multiplier to said values.
  7. Generally a large volume of people complaining about different things and the same six or so people coming into each thread to argue in circles with them isn't indicative of "fine". But if you feel it is then i more then respect your right to that opinion.
  8. Even if someone is wrong, or you're sick of hearing a complaint. This suggestion helps nobody, well, unless your objective is to eventually have the game and the community become a dead echo chamber. Which if that's the case, by all means keep telling people to leave because they don't universally love every change.
  9. I can't say for certain, but it's very possible the field of view is so narrow to make it playable on as wide a range of android devices as possible. As the larger the field of view, the more the phones processor has to render and handle associated data with objects on the screen. However, if the difference in power (im not too familiar with android and linux architecture) is large enough between models, a slider may make sense so that users can get a larger field of view without dropping performance on their specific device. You'd at the very least need quite a bit of engine work and QA testing to make sure there isn't any major bugs. You'd also likely need a big disclaimer by the slider saying something along the lines of 'do not touch if your phone is a potato'.
  10. Make the items obtained from the underground untradable then, either that or suck it up. There are already enough games, MMO or otherwise, already on the market that have made fear of touching/implementing anything that could affect the game economy a feature in its own right. which i'm happy to say they are at least not doing now, considering the nerf on berries.
  11. Arceus is one of the few pokemon i can entirely agree with being too powerful to actually have a meaningful place in any balanced gameplay without major changes. Though it would be nice to at least have some kind of custom event/discoverable lore about why it completely disappeared.
  12. Would nerfing the ubers themselves to the point where they're not ubers work? Or is there a problem with that too?
  13. From what i've seen so far, it honestly looks like theres a portion of the community that doesn't give a shit if being able to catch legendaries like a normal pokemon game 'makes them less special', and another portion that will defend whatever the most logical reason they can come up with to the death. I think it can safely be said however that unless the dev team magically changes their mind over night or the code goes open source, there's no number of people that are going to make them budge on the issue regardless of how they suggest it be implemented. At the end of the day, while i strongly disagree with how they feel about legendary pokemon, i'm not the one making the game, and for that reason i think as users it'd probably be best to just agree to disagree.
  14. You don't, it's a joke that's stopped being funny and started confusing newer forum members.
  15. Theres obviously more going on between you people than i'm aware of, but if you're so sick of repeating yourself then why are you? The conversation is obviously pissing you off, so why respond at all?
