  1. To be honest I'm not so sure. It looks really overwhelming for sure but it seems to me that Staraptor pretty much suffers from the Darmanitan syndrome : -Both are weak to rocks -Both are very frail -Both kill themselves when they hit The priority moves calcs are especially relevant to me because as Staraptor is likely to easily lose health, it could be in range of most of these
  2. It seems now inevitable that Salamence will drop given its current usage. Perhaps it could help against Crawdaunt? Bold mence switches on it nicely If Salamence gets banned from UU, I would prefer Crawdaunt being banned too. Never has the tier been centralized that much around one mon until very recently. Porygon Z doesn't even seem close to me in terms of centralization.
  3. What is this ? This thread is being opened to discuss Staraptor in the UnderUsed Tier (UU) as it was placed in OU last month while UU was stabilizing, but would drop in December according to usage. The issue of the topic is to decide whether or not it is necessary to ban Staraptor to UUBL. Characteristics : -With its recently added hidden ability (Reckless) and great attack and speed stats, Staraptor has the potential to be a destructive force as a wall breaker as a Choice Band user, while also being able to be the hardest hitting Choice Scarf user. It would benefit from Reckless by using Brave Bird and Double-Edge, both being stabbed. When using a Choice Band, it would threaten to kill nearly any Pokemon in the tier on the switch. With a Choice Scarf, it is faster than most of the other Choice Scarf users of the tier, only outsped by the rare Mismagius and Zoroark and tying with Flygon. Its access to U-turn could allow it to facilitate a friendly Pokemon to enter the field. -However, Staraptor has mediocre defensive statistics and suffers from its Stealth Rock weakness, limiting the amount of time it can enter the field. On top of that, both of its devastating stab moves are recoil moves, limiting its survivability. Basically, Staraptor kills itself. On top of that, its mediocre defensive typing make it so that most priority moves are neutral against it, except Ice Shard that hits supereffectively and is commonly used by Mamoswine. Also, Staraptor being mainly used with Choice items means that you can usually take advantage of it once it is locked. Reckless : This Pokemon's attacks with recoil or crash damage have their power multiplied by 1.2. Does not affect Struggle. Calcs : (Note : I chose a Jolly nature for those calcs, an Adamant nature could arguably work on both Choice Band and Choice Scarf) Choice Band : Choice Scarf : Priority moves against Staraptor : Sets on Staraptor : Choice Scarf - Brave Bird; Double-Edge; Close Combat/Final Gambit; U-turn Choice Band - Brave Bird; Double-Edge; Close Combat; U-turn/Quick Attack Pursuit could arguably be used, utilizing its ghost immunity. Notable checks/counters : -Bronzong is a steel type that isn't weak to fighting type, which makes it an ideal Staraptor check. At the moment, it is the 4th most used UU Pokemon, its overall utility makes it easy to fit into any team. However, Bronzong does not have a reliable recovery move, mostly relying on leftovers and still gets 3 Hit KO'd by Close Combat from Choice Band Staraptor. It is pretty much a counter to Choice Scarf Staraptor. -Gigalith could switch on both stabs, but not on Close Combat. -Rhyperior, if fully invested in HP, can even switch on a Choice Scarf Close Combat. Beware if it is Choice Banded. -Forretress "only" gets 2 Hit KO'd by Choice Banded Brave Bird, and can tank the other attacks easily enough. It could also use a Rocky Helmet. -Dusclops can only be hit by Brave Bird but would die in 2 hits from the Choice Band version. -Bold Rotom-Heat could serve as some emergency flying resist if it is full health and rocks are not on the field. -Steelix could have a nice niche as it also tanks Staraptor's stabs very easily. But again, beware the Choice Banded Close Combat. -Druddigon with Rocky Helmet and Rough Skin could pretty much kill Staraptor by switching into one of his recoil moves, which kill it in 2 hits. Feel Free to discuss on this matter.
  4. What is this ? This thread is being opened to discuss Crawdaunt and its dominant existence in the UnderUsed Tier (UU) during this month where it has been tested in the Tier. Characteristics : -Crawdaunt's great attack stat paired with its recently released hidden ability (Adaptability) allows it to be a devastating and centralizing wallbreaker in the UU meta. There are barely any Pokemon that are able to switch without risking to get 2 Hit KO'd or chasing it out of the field. On top of that, Crawdaunt has access to 2 good setup moves : Swords Dance and Dragon Dance. -Crawdaunt is however quite frail and slow; when it is invested in speed, it is still able to outspeed any defensive Pokemon (with an Adamant nature) except Golbat. Most offensive Pokemon outspeed Crawdaunt. To compensate, Crawdaunt has access to Aqua Jet, a priority move that benefits Adaptability, and a setup move that can raise its speed : Dragon Dance (Jolly Crawdaunt outspeeds the whole UU Tier at +1 speed, except Durant) Adaptability : This Pokemon's moves that match one of its types have a same-type attack bonus (STAB) of 2 instead of 1.5. As of now, Crawdaunt has 17.18% usage for 59.72% winrate. It forced most teams to use the most reliable checks, being Toxicroak (24.89% usage for 57.59% winrate) and Poliwrath (12.17% usage for 61.01% winrate). Rotom-Mow also rose in popularity partly because it is a great Pokemon to have in order to revengekill Crawdaunt. Calcs : Choice Band : Swords Dance (+Life Orb) : Dragon Dance (+Life Orb) : Sets on Crawdaunt : Choice Band - Crabhammer; Crunch; Aqua Jet; Close Combat/Aerial Ace Life Orb/Mystic Water - Crabhammer; Crunch; Aqua Jet; Close Combat/Aerial Ace Life Orb/Mystic Water - Swords Dance; Crabhammer; Crunch; Aqua Jet Life Orb/Mystic Water - Dragon Dance; Crabhammer; Crunch; Aqua Jet/Close Combat/Aerial Ace Always Adamant nature, except for the Dragon Dance set (Jolly) Aerial Ace is an option as it allows Crawdaunt to hit super effectively a very common check : Toxicroak. Notable checks/counters : -Impish Poliwrath (The most reliable counter there is in the tier, this Pokemon rose from NU to become a defensive staple in UU. Its great bulk, Water Absorb ability and dark resist allows it to switch on Crawdaunt without much risks, but it could still be dangerous if there are hazards on the field). -Toxicroak (An offensive check that can afford tanking one hit thanks to Dry Skin and its fighting type, and can chase Crawdaunt out. It is the 2nd most used Pokemon in the tier when it was 16th last month). -Tangrowth (Its very strong defensive stats allow it to switch safely on any Crawdaunt attack as long as there are no hazards on the field or Crunch doesn't drop its defense stat). -Multiple Water Absorb Pokemons such as Vaporeon, Quagsire, Jellicent, Gastrodon (Storm Drain). These would not live 2 hits if they switch on a choice banded Crunch. -Mandibuzz (Provides a reliable dark resist that can also chip Crawdaunt with Rocky Helmet. It would dislike switching on a Crabhammer). -Rocky Helmet Druddigon, with its Rough Skin ability, can deal a lot of damage to Crawdaunt when it gets hit, while also tanking the Crabhammers nicely. Feel free to give your input on the subject.
  5. I believe Sharpedo is extremely strong in NU with speed boost, being able to run physical/special/mixed sets and not being revenge killed by any scarfer makes it a threat that I don't think NU can handle properly. The fact that Poliwrath will rise to UU would make things even worse, I prefer Sharpedo being in the same tier as Poliwrath. As for Quagsire, I voted for it to stay in NU as it is doing fine in that tier and is a good check for top tiers mons like Blaziken. In my opinion Quagsire should only rise in UU by usage
  6. I think it is outrageous that a hidden ability as strong as Gliscor's Poison Heal gets released at the start of a Shiny OU tournament. It catches everyone off guard and favours the richest players who are able to immediately get a competitive Poison Heal Gliscor to get a huge advantage for the rest of the tournament as no one is supposed to be prepared to face it. Can something be done for the timing of the releases, like releasing "weaker" hidden abilities during official tournaments?
  7. RDL being a trusted member of our community, I am still surprised to this day that he was not chosen
  8. And Sweet had one ready for the finals?? What a charlatan
  9. Are Event rewards shinies tradeable to this NPC? If so, do they have a bonus?
  10. I don't see Rotom-Wash as a problem in OU. You mentionned Hydreigon and Serperior being able to punish the defog. There are others : -Breloom -Venusaur (sure, it is not common) -RotomMow -Special defense Garchomp winning the 1v1 or any toxic Garchomp could punish it -Special attack DracoMeteor Garchomp pressures it and has very few switches -Chansey/Blissey switching for free and getting all the momentum with teleport I might have forgotten some other ways. It is indeed a top tier, if I had to rate him I would put him in S tier alongside Garchomp. What I mainly like is the ability of Garchomp and RotomWash to potentially check each other depending of their sets. In my eyes this is not a sign of an unhealthy meta. I know the thread is about Serperior and I'm sorry if I disgress, but I feel like your complaint about RotomWash and Garchomp is just not right.

  12. Oh I only used the spread that gb suggested in the previous post... Feel free to think that using defense is irrelevant (that would be very narrow minded in my opinion), but since you hate defense EVs so much you might put these 156 EVs in HP instead? 252+ Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Close Combat vs. 156 HP / 0 Def Feraligatr: 129-152 (71.6 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO It still lives even after rocks and your previous point was wrong. Furthermore I believe that most of the pokemons you listed previously are unreliable (for example Mandibuzz needs to be healthy + no rocks, Druddigon only weakens Feraligatr but dies in the process... and is scarf Roserade really viable in a tier dominated by Bronzong and Crobat?) and except Poliwrath, they can only answer one (or at best 2) specific Feraligatr set, and so in a very unconvincing way. Feraligatr's sheer power and versatility are too much for UU to handle.
  13. 252+ Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 156 Def Feraligatr: 109-130 (68.1 - 81.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO +2 252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Feraligatr Crunch vs. -1 0 HP / 4 Def Toxicroak: 153-181 (96.8 - 114.5%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
  14. Overall I like the idea of Assault Vest to help checking the uncheckable special attackers (Hydreigon) But introducing the item for the sake of helping vs Serperior seems wrong as the few Serperior checks such as Togekiss Volcarona or Chandelure would struggle vs Assault Vest users like Mienshao or Tyranitar, and I fear that the addition of the item would indirectly help Serperior instead of helping against it

  17. The post of week 1 is indeed outdated, Portugal is currently winning 3-0 and you should have checked this before posting your fraudulent bet
  18. Very honest of you to bet on two teams that already secured a tie
  19. Could you also update the scores please? nvm you just did it
