Make sure you're on the same channel and in the same location, you'll see them. You can change channel by going to Community > Change Channel. If you want to message them type "/w USERNAME" in your chat box :)

Don't be sorry ^_^ There's plenty of people on trade chat selling boxes of ditto, just ask there! They'll generally meet you somewhere and trade them to you 5 at a time. 3.5k-4.5k is the general price per ditto and you'll need as many as you can get, given the super low odds of finding a shiny in this game. How about whispering each other, then right-clicking their name and clicking Add Friend?

My personal favorites to use are eelektross, gengar, Kingdra and Krookodile. All of those are really good Pokemon to use on the leagues as are starmie, scizor, magnezone, darmanitan, gyarados and swampert. As for the order of the leagues by increasing level cap (which I'm sure you already know but just in case you don't) is Unova (56), Hoenn (58) and Kanto (62).

^this And AFAIK the team's working on a way for legendary Pokemon implemented in the future to be permanently obtainable while still preserving their rarity and relative difficulty to obtain. Quick question though @Darkshade, if you're allowed to disclose this information: will legendaries be breedable? Or at least have a mechanic to make the non-ubers competitively viable in terms of IVs and nature?

See now THAT'S a good suggestion! As is adding Pokemon abilities to the pokedex. They're both something that'd be really useful and have been suggested multiple times. Wish it was implemented.
