PC in Secret Base

That adjustment is just super ad hoc and hard to implement. I'm not opposed to it per se, but it's a lot of work to fix the fucking non-issue of players suddenly not using repels or being able to farm in relatively sub-optimal hoenn locations. The reason I say "fucking non-issue" instead of legitimate complaint is because of the following: 1. Players don't use repels to get back to the PC: they Fly. They might use repels to get back once they've flown, but I've pointed out again and again that for the hours (assuming you have a full party of Paydayers or PP maxed Smeargles) you can spend farming on some of these obscure routes, the seconds of time you spend get back to the spot post PC is nominal. Also, as many other players have indicated throughout this thread, repels are kinda a waste of money: you're better off catching the pokemon and selling it on GTL for 5k than you are avoiding it entirely. The incentive is now there, and players are responding. Repels should be a footnote consideration in this argument. 2. Any loss of a money sink should be proportional to increases in others if my idea is implemented. If people suddenly stop spending money on repels and hyper potions, they will likely use that money elsewhere, for instance, buying 99x Ultra Balls to make farming super easy at their new secret base route. Even in the worst case, you still have bullet point 1. to refer to: few people use these weak storyline items after completing the storyline. 3. The actual location of where the Secret Base PC exists is beside the point. In an earlier post, I pointed out that there is no route with pokemon as rare and high level as Victory Road, making it the current optimal farming location. Any player who farms pokemon on one of those weird ass routes is costing themselves a huge amount of opportunity, as most other routes in Hoenn have common, low level mobs that aren't good for anything anyway. Adding a PC to the Secret Base would at best be a break-even strategy with farming Victory Road, which has the added advantage of literally being 3s of biking from a PC. Furthermore, farming shit in Hoenn really isn't competitive in terms of money/exp payout to the islands in Kanto. 4. If we're still going with the assumption that this feature will come after the Hoenn storyline, it won't allow players to alt spam or just coast through the game any easier than they can now. TL;DR - I understand you're not *as* against this as you once were, but I do implore you to give these points some thought because as far as I can see, they both individually and collectively nullify the fear of players being able to abuse PC healing functionality. If you can explain how I might be missing the point, I'll hear you out, but as of yet it seems like you and most of the other mods who've posted on this thread aren't really thinking through the current state of affairs in the game when you talk about the possible "exploits" this feature might open up.

    PC in Secret Base

Second time I've seen you use this language: "ignoring the problems with it doesn't make them go away." Rache, we're not ignoring the problems - we're asserting, with ample evidence, that they don't exist. What you are doing is ignoring these arguments time and time again, as you simply insist that there's a problem there and that's that. You claim adding PC functionality would destroy the concept of secret bases, yet that rests on the fallacy that secret bases are currently something that can be destroyed. Theyre basically useless right now. So much potential, and yet so little actual utility. You're also assuming that people will use their secret base as a portable PC (in 1 of our 2 regions, mind you) rather than as a nearly perfect battle center/tournament arena/team HQ/decoration hotspot. This is extremely short sighted, and I think it's because you're focusing so hard on what you perceive as this massive loophole. However, this isn't a discussion anymore. In a discussion, both sides are open to changing their minds if presented with reasonable evidence. You are clearly incapable of acknowledging the evidence presented by many posters on this thread that you're blowing the utility of this 'portable pc' out of proportion. Therefore, it's pointless to continue

  8. During the xmas event we were able to pick up items after fainting pokemon, this ultimately led to us getting some kind of reward at the end of the dungeon. What im suggesting is that the same system is implemented in the overworld, every pokemon we faint has a small chance to drop a valuable item of some-kind... nothing game breaking but say a 5% chance of holding a nugget or something If I was to go do my EV training right now I will spend maybe an hour doing my HP, in that time id KO in the region of 120 pokemon... at 5% I will encounter roughly 6 pokemon that will drop a nugget for me, thats 30k in my pocket for an hours work, nothing too over the top but its a passive money maker. TLDR: Wild pokemon have slim chance of dropping a nugget or item of value Passive way to make money while EV training/levelling/hunting Pros: easy way to make money without having to do an abysmal grind not game breaking a much needed cash flow Cons: Devs want us to be poor

  9. #newrecruits #timetoprove #6pointclub #playoffracestarting As a reminder: Sportsmanship
You will respect your teammates and above all you will respect your manager. If you got drafted by a manager you don't like or want you will have to put these feelings aside. Signing up is like signing a contract, and these are conditions you have to accept. Disobeying your PSL duties will result in blacklisting. At any point of time the host can give you a warning or a restriction based on your behavior. Don’t act like a uguu and you should be fine. Trying to purposely evade matches, or not trying to get your match done for example can result in penalties. It’s fine to have a little bit of drama, in fact in can make the whole PSL experience more enjoyable. Don’t push it though and please refrain from flaming excessively. Try to keep interaction on a human level so we can all avoid large scale drama’s. Picking on players is fine as long as it doesn’t turn in to harassment.
Ghosting & Coaching
To all managers and players I would like to say: please refrain from coaching or ghosting for someone. Ghosting, playing on another person’s account, is an officially ban-able offense. Coaching is not but it does take away from competition like it is meant to be. As a manager or a team member you should have confidence in the ability of your teammate. As a player standing from the sidelines you should have respect for a player’s ability. Helping with practicing is absolutely fine and helping with teambuilding is also good, in fact I would encourage these activities. The grey area is telling what an opponent’s Pokémon set could be or what a player should watch out for. Some battlers find this irritating as it can ruin the surprises but some are fine with it, so keep this in mind (read: ‘Revealing Teams & Sets)
Revealings Teams & Sets
Publically revealing teams before a battle by any means is not allowed and you will be punished. Do not publically announce teams. I don’t care what you do in your team PMs, but in threads or during matches do not do this. During battle do not participate in commentating about possible upcoming moves. Please let all the decisionmaking and knowledge come from the players and don't affect on the match as a spectator. Speculating really obscure moves is not harmful, yet I'd encourage this wouldn't be done at all.
Getting your battles done
This is largely in the player’s hands and there is not much to do about it. I can however try to award the player that is actively trying to get his match done as opposed to neglecting someone’s effort. Follow these guidelines to get your battle done in time or to at least secure a victory for your team in case of player inactivity. Every week will have a separate thread within it the week's match-ups and including a deadline for that week's matches. When you agree on a time you must post in the weekly thread the time and date you agreed on or ten minutes before your match starts. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS the match will be forfeit on both sides. ShowDown players are required to always provide a replay of their match, or this match will too be forfeited. Within 48 hours after the Weekly Match-Ups are posted: PM your opponent with at least 3 different time ranges you will be available, at least 2 must be at least 24 hours apart. Post in the thread stating that you have contacted your opponent. If neither opponent does this: you risk a substitution (getting put out of a team due to inactivity) or a no-contest match. Don't risk yourself or your own team. Within 72 hours after the Weekly Match-Ups are posted: Respond to your opponent either agreeing to one of the proposed times or, if none of them work for you, respond with at least 3 time ranges that will work for you When a time is agreed on, post in the weekly thread with the time of the battle If you do not respond before the 72 hour limit: you must still respond 48 hours before the deadline. 48 Hours before the Weekly Deadline: If neither opponent has PM'd with a time: The match is considered no-contest and does not count for either team. If your opponent responds but doesn't do that within 72 hours of the Weekly Match-Ups are posted you are required to respond in 24 hours. You may accept the times given by your opponent or give 3+ new times that your opponent has to accept. If one opponent PM'd within the timeframe and did not receive a response from the other player: The player who did not respond forfeits the match. It is a Win for the player who sent a PM and a Loss for the player who failed to respond. Of course after the battle is done report in the weekly thread that you won or lost. Huge thanks to Imgur for summarizing it in a clearer way and to Aldaron from Smogon for the system. As a reminder, if your opponent is not responding you have to contact your opponent's manager or host (preferably opponent's manager, though) as soon as you discover inactivity. It's also highly recommended to add both your own manager and your opponent manager in the PM so managers will know constantly where are we at. Also using your opponent's "profile wall" is a good option. This way substitutes can be used in time and matches will be done by playing. Not letting host/opposing manager let know about inactivity will result in a more likely no contest.
Note: This week onwards it is VGC 2016. Best of 3 as always (same team all 3 matches). PC in Secret Base

Gunthug most of everything that needed to be said on this point: I just gave you a bunch of reasons why this doesn't *destroy* anything, it enhances gameplay in a way that isn't detrimental to the economy or other aspects of the game. Even if this did become a "portable PC" for most players, overhead costs (RP, BP or $) would deincentivize players from taking it all around Hoenn. Even if they did regularly sack money or time to move around, you still have essentially plugged your ears with regards to my points above, including the fact that this mechanic wouldn't "ruin" anything. You're couching your arguments in hyperbolic language ("destroys the concept of [Secret Bases]") and ad hominem by claiming that we're "going in circles" when I explicitly asked for a reiteration of your past statements. This should go without saying but appeals to "how the game was originally meant to be" are a straight up ridiculous. You're playing a Fire Red/Emerald hybrid Pokemon game with confirmed IV's, dungeons/quests, Tournament mode, Tradeable Money, altered NPC interactions, altered payouts, altered BP rewards, altered move mechanics, and a million other non-canon features and you're going to complain about this one? It's just not tenable to hold onto this, and it seems you are. If you want to respond to my prior post in a way that actually addresses the content instead of digging in your heels, I'm all for it. If not, then you're purposely avoiding discussion, which is not why this thread or forum exists!. I considered all of the problems that you pointed out in my above post(s), now its time for you to be generous and do the same for me. I explained why almost all of your counterpoints to my suggestions do not hold up to scrutiny, and gave you an open door to show me how I'm wrong. Again, if you're not going to discuss this, you need to be using another website, because forums are made for discussions. I disagree. Generally, in software development & engineering (as well as many other sciences), the simplest solution is almost always preferable so long as nothing is lost or broken by implementing it. What I've been saying is that nothing would be lost by implementing a Secret Base PC, and I've given you a lot of reasoning as to why this is: 1. Upfront cost for PC discourages frequent moving. Loss of repel/potion money sink could be mitigated by making the PC cost money each time a secret base is relocated. These costs would promote using the Secret Base as it was originally intended: to be a stationary hideout where players can bring their friends, customize their personal space with random items, and allow for fun interactions with other players. 2. Giving players access to new areas to grind doesn't actually harm anything, as better grinding areas are already available without this feature. 3. Loss of the repel money sink is of questionable importance as catching Pokemon is generally more profitable than repelling them. Easier farming of certain species may in fact make players more inclined to visit/use their secret base. 4. Only allowing PC after completion of the storyline prevents players from abusing the secret base's healing functionality. Again, I'm giving you an open door to respond to anything I've said in a systematic and well-reasoned way.

  13. Here are some of my wacky NU creations. I probably won't use them in officials, they're more of a fun thing I like to use in random duels. This is a special wall in NU. The point of it is to come in take hits then use its utility like toxic/light screen. It has Espeed because who doesn't love priority moves, especially since Espeed is a pretty powerful priority move. My favourite part is using shed skin, when you rest, shed skin can remove the sleep immediately at the end of the turn, not only that but its great at taking any status due to the ability. This thing has huge amounts of HP+Sp def bulk. Usually you would use insomnia since it's a much better ability than keen eye, but I switched it because I wanted to use rest with stab snore lol.

    Secret bases and teleports

We were discussing the possibility of having the mail system in our bases, but that would bring a few issues. Then i thought: what if we had a way to teleport from our bases directly to another city? Maybe even a way to enter our bases while in kanto, which is currently the more populated region anyway. It would be a bit weird, but it makes sense as a gameplay choice.

A lot of stream/twitch tourneys on twitch top 8 usuaally get prizes Can have a pro bracket And non pro bracket and the top 2 of non pro can face off vs pro winners or join the pro bracket etc. If a pro loses vs a nonpro he can get pushed back a bracket or idk. But non pro bracket has like a top prize of 100k only until they can manage pro bracket with better prizes.

So is now the definition of exploit as something that makes the game towards slightly more convenient direction but anything that makes the game more grindy is balancing? E: All these counter-arguments about making the game easier base on the assumption that everything is perfect as a game as where it is right now with a canon version and that I think is a major fallacy by default. Making things harder of course can be justified by making this game a "better MMO environment".

  19. You should feel that the pokemon you post has some measure of competitive viability (Don't make up stuff for lols pls) You can post any tier and any uncommon Moveset, EV spread, or Pokemon. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'll start. :P Torkoal:

The good: Annoys the Arcanine/Skarmory/Forretress/Dusclops/Weezing/Venusaur of the current OU metagame No more dugtrio to trap it. Flame/Poison is decent coverage for just two attacks and sludgebomb has high posion rate along with the occasional flamethrower burn. White smoke can help annoy magneton with wish support. Enough bulk to take a hit when you need it to finish off something like a metagross or a heracross. Enough bulk to not be deeply bothered by pursuit users. The bad: Can struggle against spike cloyster if it doesn't have switch in opportunities to spin. mostly just a bulky annoyer so IMO works best on a defensive beat down type of team where it has support and its occasional lack of power is not a game changer. ~Inspired(ish) by orangemaniac's Xatu thread~

    PC in Secret Base

Ok, but as it stands bases are completely useless and nothing but a literal hole in the wall to storyliners. This is an MMO enviroment, not the handheld games. I think having a useful base for everyone is much more important than pleasing some imaginary players that should obviously be emulating the original games. This is a non-issue. As stated a multitude of times already, there is a very small number of routes that would benefit from this in the first place. Almost all routes are very close to a PC, and the handful that are not aren't good for anything that another route can't do better. Not to mention, most "big teams" would want their bases in an accessible location because they can now host events and would prefer other people to see their new base than everybody having to bike to it every time. Wow, it takes a special sort of stubborn to reach this far. A person has to be online to access their base. This is not consistent enough to rely on. Nobody is going to wait until such and such person is online just to save some bucks on some repels that they're theoretically using to save time getting to some theoretical spot that they need to get to do whatever it is they're doing in timbuktu. "Hey, buddy. I see you like this patch of grass. Boy do I have a deal for you, I'll add you to my friends list for the small price of 'x' and you can save 15 entire seconds getting here from my base rather than flying to that pc" This is about the equivalent of me saying that wild pokemon should no longer give EVs because players might trade their pokemon to randoms they see killing pidgeys to save time speed training. Might not be the best analogy, but what I'm trying to say is that it's a completely ridiculous point and is never going to happen. This is way too simple and beneficial of an idea to be held back by you being concerned a few players will save money on repels. But at this point I'm sure it's not going to happen anyway because the real staff wouldn't want to make you look arbitrary as you are, and the clique-ish nature of lower staff in general (seriously munya what are you doing). Feel like I'm wasting my time arguing this, it's doing about as much good as emailing my local congressman.

Fix pls -OT search option ( find old/known comps ) -Put a way to adjust price by decrasing it but with 24h limit to each one. New: -Search based on IV Sum What you think

  27. literally anybody who owns a gift shiny since they're all worthless.
    4 points
  28. I'll address this part first: "Commonly overlooked is the fact that competitive players have pretty much the only reliable access to shiny competitives on the server - 99% of shinies on the server are nowhere near as good as the prizes we hand out (regardless of whether they're tradeable)." This isn't overlooked, it's just insignificant. Who cares if competitive players are the only ones who have access to competitive prizes? You're also dead wrong about the 99% comment, as a shiny tradeable ratatta with 6x<10 IVs is more valuable than a comp gift shiny (in the eyes of many). If your definition of "good" is literally just about IVs, that just shows a misunderstanding of what a "good" competitive pokemon is - it's about far more than just IVs/nature. Many comps rely on their unpredictability and..well I think you have been filled in re: this flaw in shiny gift comps, so I won't rehash it. I will agree with you though that simply because something is untradeable doesn't mean it has no effect on the economy - if someone wins a gift shiny their demand for that regular, tradeable shiny goes down, and the rarity of that shiny also goes down even though the gift isn't tradeable (rarity has a lot to do with shiny values, but it's not the only factor). However, I would argue it's a negligible effect at most and bumping their quality up would do nothing to change this At the end of the day, competitive players would like two things out of a tournament prize - compensation for their hard work and skill (something that has truly gone overlooked in this whole discussion - the fact that a tournament winner beat 31 other players out and deserves a reward for that), and a trophy to commemorate/show off their victory. Right now, you guys are using the gift shiny as the trophy AND part of the compensation (arguing that it has utility), while throwing in 1m yen to the compensation pot, too. Personally, I think gift shinies are crummy trophies and have next to no utility, and I don't think 1m yen is enough compensation. For the trophy aspect, I'd love some customized vanity items, which I mentioned earlier in the thread (though I agree with noad that it's a lot to ask of you to supply one of these for every event - perhaps just the big series). For the compensation, what's the point of a non-shiny gift comp with higher IVs when you could just up the yen and give the player even more customization with their prize? The non-shiny gift comp will absolutely have an effect on the economy, as when a player receives a comp like that, they no longer need to go out and purchase/breed that version of that comp. So I don't see how a 1m yen prize boost (should someone choose to forego the gift shiny) would be any MORE harmful than that Just my two cents, sorry for rambling on a bit e: I also agree with commenters who pointed out that bumping the official prizes up to 2m isn't going to fix the economy. That's a discussion for another thread, though

Your thoughts on new players joining and leaving after beating the storyline is true to a certain point but there are always new players joining. We just need to work on player retention which will increase our overall growth.

I cannot believe how hard the staff is arguing against this. Pros: Adding purpose to a currently useless mechanic of the game Added money sink in people customizing their now useful base Fun factor (A point long lost to this staff team) "Cons": A ridiculously small portion of players farming a ridiculously small number of relatively useless routes will possibly use a few less repels in the game Are you fucking kidding me? How is this even a debate. I can't help but get slightly irritated reading through this thread and seeing the staff make utterly stupid points against an overall great addition to the game.

    PC in Secret Base

what if instead of a pc, it was a battle box, and you can put up to three different teams in it. make it a base item. you cant take mons out the battle box out of the base.

    PC in Secret Base

This is frankly embarassing for you, so it's probably best we stop. I just gave you several opportunities to respond to an itemized list of why the unlimited PC feature (outside of storyline) would not harm the game and you're refusing to answer, instead saying "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!!! LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU". You need to address my points if you want this statement to be taken seriously. I've reiterated them several times in list form for you. I'm not saying we have to agree to have a discussion, but we do have to have some ground rules. One of those rules is engaging the subject matter directly and not falling on your predetermined opinions, "this is not happening", instead of explaining your reasoning to the group. I've literally given you three walls of text that show that Secret Base PC's, when made available after the storyline, have 0 actual economic/gameplay consequences that we should worry about. I assume you disagree, but without explaining why, it's a mystery to me how this is so. If you fail to address my posts, this will be my last response to you in this thread, and I'd encourage others to do the same. LF Darkshade.

  38. Wow I had an idea of this kind of a thread but didn't exactly know how to implement it, this is perfect! Alright, here's my other uncommon creation for OU tier.
Max the overpowered Flareon is back! Now in the OU tier. Alright, why Flareon might you ask? It is a really good corebreaker of Weezing + Blissey/Umbreon to begin with. Superpower + Fire Blast/Overheat takes care of that. Toxic takes care of any incoming Slowbros or quite rather, any incoming water-type (Gyarados, Kingdra) and Toxic them or at least make them eat their Lum Berry. Last move for Flareon is a cleric move. Either Heal Bell of Wish depending which your team needs more. I like Heal Bell more. EV Spread is 252 HP 252 Atk for maximum longevity. Pros: + Can take advantage of the overcentralization of the Weezing + Umbreon/Chansey core + Forces a lot of sure switches on these Pokemon and can give you a surprise Toxic attack on opponent, remove status or support a teammate with Wish + There aren't a lot of offensive team based clerics + Offensive and immune to W-o-W (can even take advantage of it) Cons: - Obviously not the best Wish user out there - Underperforms against offensive teams (Ursaring, Heracross, Flygon etc.) - Needs heavy teambuilding to counter these Pokemon - There exists other core-breakers - It's a damn Flareon. Ps. Waiting for comments about bias because of my signature.
41. Official comp events are a small sliver but the overall competitive PVP aspect is much greater. I personally believe PVP and PVE are equally lacking in the end game should both be developed which one goes first is still yet to be seen.

  42. That's how is it gen 6, go use a ditto on showdown. It even copies stat boosts and what not Also, why would a lvl 100 dragonite give a ditto the chance to use transform? Just 1shot it.

  44. Would you take your shitty little comment off this thread. Nobody cares if this game is free, nobody cares if we're not owed anything. We're simply making a suggestion to help the game. I'm pretty sure the staff like to know the players opinion about their game. So please.. Shut the fuck up.
