Alright, this is supposed to be some sort of a conversation opener (again). I honestly don't get the untradable shiny comp prizes. The "issue" before used to be that most tournament winners just sold their shinies so they could get resources for competitive play. Now the winners are stuck with their shinies so people cannot get those resources. What I'm asking is that how does this make really any sense? You can clearly see comp players do not care for shinies as prizes, so why to supply them with further shinies they're now stuck with? "But the shinies are competitive now!" That unfortunately won't fix the issue at all. Even if you were to change the prizes to 6x31. The whole fact those prizes are comp shinies is completely irrelevant. The problem is that these Pokemon are shinies and untradable. That alone makes them barely competitively usable, especially if they have a Hidden Power. Because that comp's nature and Hidden Power are now known. It doesn't make any sense to bring this shiny comp to a real competitive battle because the surprise factor of that Pokemon is completely ruined. What I'm saying that don't force people to take these shiny comp prizes which they don't need. Change the prizes to something comp players would benefit from. Additional PokeYen, or 1 mil + some number of Everstones/breeding braces or something for winner that the winner most likely will actually use. The shiny can still be optional, sure. But there honestly is no true demand for it. Before we used to have a "breeder's package" which didn't get people too happy but the problem was that those were almost worthless. You could honestly grind more value during the same time with just average luck. So just buff up the prizes for that regard but the whole prize centralizing on the comp untradable shiny just honestly makes no sense to me. So, I thought it would be better if the whole discussion of the prizes could be re-initiated because the current prize system needs work and I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way.

We have had a lot of new members in the past year, and a whole lot of things have happened and changed. I cannot believe how hard the staff is arguing against this. Pros: Adding purpose to a currently useless mechanic of the game Added money sink in people customizing their now useful base Fun factor (A point long lost to this staff team) "Cons": A ridiculously small portion of players farming a ridiculously small number of relatively useless routes will possibly use a few less repels in the game Are you fucking kidding me? How is this even a debate. I can't help but get slightly irritated reading through this thread and seeing the staff make utterly stupid points against an overall great addition to the game.

Electrical Base! Here is why I am purposing this idea, the player is taking advantage of the fact that he/she could heal pokes (PC in Secret Base) and at the same time, I want to have a useful base so I agree with both RacheLucario and Robofeind on certain points. I have an alternative to having a what I call a "floating PC" that I thought deserved its own suggestion thread. I was kind of toying around with this idea and wanted to see if this worked, instead of the plates and monitors, you all remember your electric bills? I have an idea, make electric bills (someone has to pay since you are providing the service). Electric bills pay for your ability to heal, but this also opens the door for other items to be installed that would cost less (like a treadmill for those gym enthusiasts who play PokeMMO *cough* *cough* *DoubleJ*, or have something less gym like that requires power like the ability to turn on your TV that you bought at the Battle Frontier)! Here is the thing I am getting at, it will cost LESS than the recovery item or the computer, here is a chart I am going to make and I'll call it Noad's Electrical Company named after one of my good friends in the game, so lets get started....... Disco Ball = 5K per month Refer to Noad's Music Company Noad's Music Company Standard Music (PokeMMO Tunes) = 1k per month Unique Music (Like Eggplant's songs for example) = 10k per month Tune of the Day (any tune staff chooses to air per week, I think this would be a fun assignment for the staff lounge) = 15K per month All Tunes = 30K per month Treadmill = 10K a month Refer to Noad's Cable Company Noad's Cable Company: Standard Cable: 1k per month to keep up Swarm Alert: 15k per month to keep up Official Alert (letting players knowing when the next offiical is and location): 10K per month to keep up All Cable Services: 30k per month to keep up Climate Control Machine (to make your base rain/snow/and give sunshine) = 80K per month Heal Machine = 50K per month The Computer = 100K per month I think have an electrical base would be a nice luxury for those who want something "extra" for their base. I could see numerous amount of possibilities like a "Team Base" or a "Tournament Place" for example. This could also work for that one person who wants to have a "cool" base to show off to friends. Overall, I think that a "power base" option would be a good idea for people who want to use their base as their own personal homes.

For the PC, which has been a topic of recent debate; it's not as easy as just placing one in there and making it available as item, because the tilesets are entirely different and lack the required backgrounds. A custom one is not out of the question though, it's something to discuss.

Leaving making those comps aside, which is very boring and takes days just to make a single team that will be too expensive to re-moveset afterwards anyway, you spend hours training with team-mates, calculating and making additions to your team in order to win. Then you spend a good few hours in an official, where out of 32 players who put in this insane amount of effort, only 1 wins that useless shiny. Of course, the whole competitive scene is very hostile to the new players, punishing them with counterbuilds, hence we have the same players winning officials most of the time. This is because absolutely no shit is given into making the competitive scene fair for everyone (no locked battle box during turnaments, no secret bracket, everything geared towards helping the big names). As a competitive player in both real life events and pokemmo, I can tell you this: there is nothing worth grinding for here.

I did try to take only money back then when I won Lanturn and apparently I was also forced to take that shit as well. Took me an additional minute to take it and release.

I don't think the money is a fair amount, in fact, I never asked for the money in any tourney I won, I always asked for the rps for extra boxes in the pc or vanities or stuff cause I think that amount of money is a joke for all the effort u need to put into an official in order to win it and the ivs, I don't understand why can't be all 31s or to have the opportunity to choice the hidden power u want for a Pokemon that could be useful, it's for ur own anyway, u wont be able to make any profit with it and it wont give u any advantage cause u can breed it anyway. Also I agree with oldkeith we should work into trying to give more opportunities to new people to win an official with secret bracket or whatever we can think of because even when the same people will won the tourney most likely we gotta try to balance things out for new people trying to participate and NO, having ridiculous ivs in the shiny prize is not balanced at all, it's just a dumb decision

But no one fucking wastes their money on repels/hyper potions etc. in the first place. They're useless items and 9/10 if I need a breeder, trainer battle, whatever, there's a PC within 15s of surf/grass from it. Players are smart enough to know where the most optimal farming locations are for every item in the game and this reduces the need to even waste that money. Adding a PC to secret base creates a new money sink (assuming the PC costs money). Idk if there's available economic data, but I'd bet players spend 10x the money on pokeballs that they do on repels - catching pokemon is literally more economically incentivized than avoiding them. Furthermore, I pointed this out earlier in the thread, it's not like running into fucking Tentacools is a central element of this game that players would somehow be avoiding if we just implemented the secret base, and the advantages to this feature are very obvious: 1. Players spread out away from main hubs -> different pokes because easier to obtain -> more diverse market with lower prices 2. Easier comp play in bases 3. PC becomes a money sink to replace costs that players would *maybe* spend on repels or whatever. TL;DR - this is not at all related to inflation as long as the cost of a PC is high enough to prevent abuse and low enough that a player could/would choose to move it elsewhere. In fact, players may even spend more money on pokeballs with a secret base PC because then they can more easily farm different sorts of pokemon without the high overhead cost of flying/healing/emptying boxes all the time.

The staff of this game is filled with armchair economists, it's hilarious watch, i'll do it too: By putting PCs in secret bases, you'd be breathing life into what is currently a useless mechanic, and more people would in turn buy secret base decorations since they'd be relevant again. Zebra and Nik have been going back and forth for 4th place and now Nik again takes it back. Meanwhile DestructX gained up to tie 9th with Amanu.
